John 3:14-19:
"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

Eph 2:8-9:
"For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

My sister, the way of salvation is CLEARLY spelt out!

10q so much for this apt and concise response. I was wondering how people did not realize that Christ died for the whole world. And it’s whoever and not just the Jews.

1. Jesus Christ Himself told you He was sent to the Lost sheep of Israel. That mission was concluded on the cross when He shed His blood and did to pay the ransome necessary to buying them from the Old Covenant Law which they were born into as Children of Israel. undecided

2. When Jesus Christ defeated Death, after His resurrection, He then threw the gate of the Kingdom of God open to even the Gentiles. undecided

3. Next time, If you see me twist scripture, let me
know at that point what you dont understand and I will try to explain what I mean then. Accusing me without substantiation is akin to saying nothing at all? undecided

Let's hear from the Judge of all the Earth, Himself, what He has to say about this:

Matthew 16:27 (KJV)

For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Matthew 25:34-40 (KJV)

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:
For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

So if the Words of Jesus, the One who paid the price for man's sin was anything to go by, good works could indeed qualify one for heaven.

God bless.

God words cannot take you to even but it's a prerequisite for christian growth and development. Some of you don't really understand scriptures so you give interpretation that are not exact.
Eph 2;8-9. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
The judgement of God is for all men For the righteous and the unrighteous and it's for either reward or condemnation. However been saved is of grace.

NO
Good works doesn't qualify anyone for Heaven
If good works was all we needed to enter Heaven then Christ didn't have to come to die for our sins, but the problem isn't our 'works' but our nature
Christ came to die for us,so we could be birthed into a new nature (Christ's nature/identity),after being born again our works now become Valid

But faith in Christ is what gets us to Heaven
But this is for Christians only , it doesn't apply to non Christians. And it's not only Christians that will make heaven. What this means is there is a separate heaven for christain and separate heaven for Muslims separate heaven for Buddhist and so on..

paxonel:
you terribly misunderstood that there is time for everything and that what qualifies people to heaven as at the time Jesus was yet to be crucified is totally different from what qualifies people to heaven today that Jesus has been crucified.

Long after the crucifixion, Paul mentioned

Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

And that stands in Christianity today. It wasn't so at the time before Jesus crucifixion that is why you can afford to quote those scriptures you quoted without this understanding
When correcting another person, do not be too harsh, else you make mistake and expose your own ignorance.
Romans 3:28 say that a person is justified (put right with God) through faith. This is the same thing as saying Salvation comes through faith in Christ. But what you fail to understand is that the condition for Salvation/justification is different from the conditions for making heaven. That is because Salvation doesn't mean making heaven.
Salvation means being saved from the power or effects of sin. It comes through faith in Christ. The same Romans 3 verse 31 says: "Does this means that by this faith we do away with the Law? No, not at all. Instead, we uphold the Law." The same Paul who wrote this epistle also said that Faith without action(works) is dead.
As far as making heaven is the topic of this thread, the person you corrected earlier was right. Jesus himself told us that when he comes (future tense) to judge the world, he will REWARD us according to our works. This statement was made in future tense, so time doesn't change anything about this. Before Jesus died, the yardstick he said he will use to reward us WHEN HE COMES is still the same today because he is still yet to come.
Assuming you have a brother that travelled to America about 15 years ago, and before he left, he promised to buy you a car immediately he comes back. Now, your community had developed over the years, and the government had built an airport there. So because times and things had changed will you start believing that when your brother comes back he will buy you an aeroplane? Even if he will do this, God is not a man that can change. What he said he will do when he comes, is exactly what he will do.

Take note of this...
Salvation is different from making heaven. Salvation is achieved through faith, while you are still alive... Heaven is achieved through your good works when you have finished your life.
A certain rich man once asked Jesus: "What shall I do to enter the kingdom of God?" Jesus gave him only two conditions: 1. Keep the commandments.
2. Sell your riches and use the money to help the poor.
In summary, keep the law and do good works. Those fake preachers who tell you to ignore the law and good work and just have faith in Christ are the ones spoiling this world.
BE WISE!

Everyone is not going to the same heaven.

So yes.
Re: Can Good Works Qualify One For Heaven? by OllyDiamond: 12:53pm On Dec 18, 2022
First of all, we should know that there is no righteousness without works and so also it is with faith.

Going to heaven entails acknowledging Jesus Christ Who was born of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Who died and Resurrected on the 3rd Day, as your personal Lord and Saviour, believing it in your heart and confessing it with your mouth. This forms the basis/foundation.

The next step is simply holy lifestyle and your good works because no one, I repeat, no one will go to heaven without good works.

In summary:
Salvation = foundation of the building
Holy living = the structure of the building
Good works = both the roof and interior
of the building

Good works alone will not take anyone to heaven otherwise, even unrepentant drug peddlers, armed robbers and murderers will all go to heaven for these people and all other evil people also do good works through giving or through their act of kindness

Read this.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

John 3:16-17 (ESV)

Jesus came “to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 9:10). Jesus saves you by dying in your place. He became your substitute by dying on a cross. He became the sacrifice for your sin to pay the penalty. Jesus died so you can have eternal life.

(Acts 4:12). Jesus says in John 14:16 (ESV): “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
(it is not through your good deeds)

To repent means to see things differently. Repent doesn’t mean to just feel bad about your sin our your life. It means seeing things from God’s perspective. In the Bible, repent literally means to “think differently after.” After you hear the good news of Jesus, think differently about God, the world, and yourself.

How would your life be different if you saw things differently? If you believed that God really loved you enough to give you His only Son? If your sins are forgiven so you don’t have to live in fear, shame, and condemnation anymore?

Would you have a peace that can carry you through the difficult times in life?
Would your life be filled with gratitude?
Would you begin to live life in God’s design and not be the boss of your own life?
If you repent and see from God’s perspective, you will live life differently. Jesus will become the Lord, or boss, of your life. To trust God means to surrender to Him and to live life in His design.

And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.

John 17:3 (ESV)

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Rom. 10:9 (ESV)

John 5:11-13 makes it very clear. “And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life

Very very important, believe first and accept Jesus and call upon the name of the lord and be baptized (Go to a church that does the baptism accurately, total immersion in water)

If you trust in God and accept him, then he will come and live in you, because you will become the temple of the living God.

We can only be saved By Jesus Christ, it is very clear. That is why he is the Savior or Messiah. The light of the World.

We cannot be saved by our goodness. We need Christ in us. If Christ is in us, then we would love God with our whole heart and love our neighbors as we love ourselves.

First and very very important, don't let anyone dilute the power of the cross or the promises of God
Believe that Jesus died for you sins, and that he rose again on the third day.

We die to our old self by believing in Jesus and we are raised up together with him. At the cross Christ nailed the requirements that held us down.

We live and Christ live in Us.

And if you should sin, then the Holy Spirit will convict and you should ask for forgiveness. The wish of God, is for us to be more like a child of God (the image of Christ), growing from glory to glory, although we are not yet perfect, but we should always depend and trust in the Lord Jesus.

People who said yes are right. A rich ruler asked Jesus what good will he do to have eternal life. The reply was to follow the law. Then he told him to be perfect which is an extra, he should take away distractions and follow him.

Exactly. Sometimes we forget to follow Jesus and we become lost to ourselves.

Good works can never qualify anyone for heaven because any good work we do or render to anybody is for our profiting and not to God. Luk8:36- give and it shall be given unto u. The only ticket to heaven is salvation. Pls take note of this points .
