FLASH: The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) @MetroLagos has announced that the infrastructure for the first phase (Marina to Mile 2) of Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LMRT) BLUE LINE Rail is Ready.

A release signed by the Consultant, Corporate Communication of LAMATA, Mr. Kolawole Ojelabi said the completion of the infrastructure is in fulfilment of the promise made by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. @jidesanwoolu that the project would be completed in the last quarter of 2022, ahead of the commencement of passenger operations slated for the first quarter of 2023.

He explained that the LRMT Blue Line is one of the six rail lines and monorail prescribed for Lagos in the state’s Strategic Transport Master Plan (STMP).

According to him, the LRMT Blue Line is a 27-kilometer rail system from Marina to Okokomaiko. Construction has been divided into phases for ease of implementation and is expected to move more than 500,000 passengers when the entire line is completed.

In his words, "Governor Sanwo-Olu had, while campaigning for the office of Governor, promised to complete the infrastructure for the first phase of the LRMT Blue Line

"The first phase is a 13-kilometer stretch from Marina to Mile 2 and has five stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina. It is expected to move about 200,000 passengers daily", he added.

Ojelabi pointed out that the rail system would be powered by electricity from an independent power plant to be purposely built for its operation.

Similarly, the Managing Director of LAMATA, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo averred that the completion of the infrastructure for the first phase of the LRMT Blue Line is a testimonial of the importance of public transportation to Governor Sanwo-Olu's THEMES agenda.

When you tell them about the role played by Tinubu, they will downplay it and say it doesn't matter.

They said raising IGR is nothing but hogwash, to them, IGR means nothing and should not be used as a yardstick to measure the performance of a governor.

This makes me wonder why everyman including Tinubus critics strives to grow their income. Every worker wants a pay rise, and a businessman wants a higher profit, but Tinubus critics say IGR doesn't reflect in the standard or the people.

How do you raise your standard of living if you can't generate enough income to meet your needs?

They are so delusional and fancies the feeding bottle arrangement where every state depends on the FG to meet its needs. No wonder their forefathers were the ones that truncated regional autonomy while the children keep maintaining it.

How do you rationalize people that are against the state's collection of VAT?

Now we are seeing the wonders that a high IGR can do for a state. Today, Lagos is setting another record in sub-Saharan Africa by modernizing its transport system.

Let other states increase their IGR so they can embark on transformational projects, I'm sick and tired of people defending mediocre when they should be talking, a state like Anambra should be on the course if the foundation laid by Chris Ngige to generate income for the state have been kept by the subsequent governors, today, Anambra has dropped on that ladder and it would take the state 7years budget to do what Lagos will do in a year with its budget of 1.7 trillion.

Let's all charge our state governors to perform and stop celebrating mediocrity.

If Tinubu has done it in Lagos, he will do it again at the federal level.

Vote Bola Ahmed Tinubu,

The developments in Lagos are good, but that will not make Nigerians vote for the APC Presidential candidate.

He is not the one carrying out those developmental projects in Lagos but various successive Governors.

If we ask them to check Lagos and confirm the works being done there despite all the allegations of corruption and Lagos full of touts, they will reply that, Lagos was once the country capital.

Like, was Lagos the only country capital?

The state that wasn't full of corruption and wasn't full of touts and with nothing to show for it will just be behaving like touts on the internet.

I wonder how some people called Obedients, Batified, Atikulated or Kwakwansiyyah will feel if they wake up to realise their candidates has lost.

Some people are simply bitter and haters by DNA. Nothing good is good enough for them.

No country succeeds with such people in majority

I must confess that those people are very useless people. They went to Libya to organize people to condemn Gadaffi and we all see the end result till date.

They will never appreciate but to condemn your efforts, if you like be feeding them 4 square meal per day, they will still complain that you are not doing anything.
