But Messi has destroyed every top teams in epl yet you guys still say he should come epl to prove himself. Una hypocrite too much and I’m glad Messi catch Una handicap this time so nowhere to run to.
If cr7 was the one that has been successful in every international tournament you guys would’ve been running Wilde with that but to you guys it is normal because it is messi. Cr7 didn’t win any player of the tournament at international level, he is a club legend and it end there. Eder won their euro for them while Ronaldo celebrated and take the glory from the bench after being substituted. Bernardo Sylver was the best player when they won nations league.

My point is anyone can put either pele or Messi as the greatest footballer of all time and they will be right. Cr7 is the 5th best player of all time due to longevity.

Having 16 teams means they didn't habe to play group stage.

Na competition be that?

They play Group stage, then straight to QF

No 2nd round

Of course the less teams in a World Cup, the stiffer the opposition

Or you mean to tell me it will be more difficult to perform when FIFA expand to 48 teams and start giving people like New Zealand automatic entry from Australasia, probably 7 teams from Africa and Asia, reducing the quality of opponents

Increasing number of game play open more chances of getting eliminated easily. See it from this angle too.

It'll be more difficult because best teams will still get to play against each other later on when smaller teams get eliminated.

Nonsense. It just means players can statpad against weaker opponents in group stage and 2nd round

As it stands, the only top tier teams Messi has scored open play goals against in 5 World Cups are Holland and France

Rest of his records are against useless teams like Bosnia, Iran, Nigeria that won't qualify for World Cup in Peles time

Exactly.

The number of participating teams will still get reduced to 16 after weaker teams get knocked out leaving the best teams in the competition.

It's bot about start stat padding. It about the number of times the best teams will have to play which makes it harder.

For example, there'll be 48 teams in the next World cup. If Argentina still goes on to win the competition, it means they'll play more matches plus even having to face the best teams later on in the KO stage before getting to the final.

Now compare this with what happened in 1958, 62 and 70 where Brazil didn't have to play many matches to reach the final.

They're not the same at all.

It's 6 games in Pele time Vs 7 games now

The only missing link is 2nd round

All 6 games are tough because you are playing the top 16 qualifiers in the World and can easily get knocked out in group stage

You don't have an argument. Imagine Brazil, Holland, France and Mexico in the same group, that's the equivalent of what used to happen in Pele days, every group is group of death

You are capping nonsense. Check out these groups in 1966 World Cup.

Imagine Messi have to play France and Holland this World Cup after losing to Saudi instead of Poland and Mexico, tell me how he will smell 2nd round

Honest question....

You've made valid points but why is CONMEBOL maligned so much because of having lesser teams?

The logic here is that having lesser teams means the competition is tougher which I kind of agree but why isn't this applied to the South American qualifiers/Copa America?

In what context? It must be in relation to Europe

CONMEBAL has only two heavyweight teams (Argentina and Brazil) as opposed to Europe that has Germany, France, Spain, England, Holland, Italy, Portugal, Belgium

2nd level down, you still have Croatia, Denmark, Switzerland vs Uruguay, Chile and Colombia

Did he beat them in 90 mins or with help of penaltying Goalkeeper

If he faced them in Group stage instead of Poland and Mexico, he will be out with 2 points from Group stage

Some of these teams were not actually great as at this time, e.g Spain, Mexico and France.

Those teams in that group you posted were not great as at the time. Spain won their first wc 2010.

What matter is that he scored and assisted against them and winning is winning. Remember we are discussing Messi and pele here. Pele had better players than messi too.

Spain has always been good, just not put it together. You can't have Real Madrid dominating UCL and say Spain aren't good while playing Madrid stars, DiStefano and co. The reason they didn't win anything is exactly the point, inability to escape the tough competition

France was good and prior World Cup semifinalist

Mexico has always been Mexico

I used that example for indomie generation. The toughest group was actually Brazil group, but because this indomie generation won't know about the Mighty Magyars (Hungary) of Puskas generation, I decided not to use that group as example

The bolded is the reason FIFA is assumed to be backing Messi to win the trophy because the referee ought to had given him second yellow card but he looked away. Very obvious.

Many fouls were committed by the Argentina players but the referee refused to give the second yellow card. Very obvious fraud.

The reason many will never regard Messi as goat of goats. Everything about him is fraud.

Took banned substances in athletics to succeed in football.

U sure say u no go need see therapist on top this Messi matter like this ?

The ref should give a keeper yellow card during penalty shoot-out because he dropped the ball for the opposing player to pick from the floor ? U for just say make he wrap the ball in the best of Persian silk and go on his knees and hand the ball to him. Later una go dey give imaginary commentary on still image dey claim say na since 1972 una don dey play as striker undecided

Messi took banned substance in athletics to succeed in football. I'm guessing u are the lab technician who attended to them the day Messi drug tests results came out. smh

U better don't let the GOAT's massive W turn u to something else. Even PENDU wailing sef no reach ur own since sunday night.

It'll take some time before they(CONMEBOL) win it again.

Like Ibime pointed out, there are only two heavy weights in CONMEBOL; Brazil and Argentina. Against Europe; Spain, Germany, France, England, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Italy and even Croatia.

I think it's only logical that it took that long.

Is that why or does it justify Argentineans burning effigies of Mbappe KKK style all over Buenos Aires?
