With all the people wey dey make thousands and millions on a regular basis doing legal business here for street for Naija here...and some people still dey plan to Japa to Kazakhstan and Antigua and maybe Greenland for Greener pastures?

Kazakhstan is to Russia what Canada is to the US. It's a very huge country, almost three times bigger than Nigeria but less than thirty million people, they majorly speak russian and are within the Russian sphere of cultural influence.

It's a place you'll go and feel like you're in a different world. English will become obsolete and everyone looks different. Black people there are a novelty, so you'll be stared at everywhere you go. They are Asians.

If you have a legal residency and a good source of income, in my view, it's better than lots of Western countries. Kazakhs are known for their hospitality, and they are majorly Muslims.

And their women are very feminine, so those bosse b!tch, masculine, cursing, feminist morons ain't the norm. Family is really important to them and you'll hardly marry their citizen not because they are racist, but because their parent won't let you leave Kazakhstan with their daughter.

But if you can learn the language, and integrate, you'll love it. It's truly a beautiful country. I have a friend there in Almaty. He always visit western European countries but goes back to Kazakhstan. He loved it there and he is Kenyan, an English teacher. He lives in Almaty.

Make sure you go legally, integrate and respect their culture. Then you'll come to love it. And if you like horse meat, it's a typical food there. Choose Almaty, it's like the Lagos of Kazakhstan and most importantly, it's warmer.

Found the thread about the nairalander that ran away to Kazakhstan. He got there in early May, he was so full of excitement about how "developed" the country was. What he didn't know was that the development started and ended in the airport he was posting from.

Reality hit him when he realized that the visa agent fraudulently collected $2000 for a useless six months visa which couldn't be used to find work anywhere in the country (not that there were jobs flowing everywhere, the language barrier made it impossible to get any type of work). He did a thread about his horrid experience in the country and warned Nigerians not to be fooled by any agent into coming there.

He eventually returned to Nigeria in July with nothing and went to hide in a friend's place in Abuja. He couldn't tell his people he was back due to shame I guess. Few days after his arrival, he committed suicide while he was alone in the friend's house. The story was reported in this thread below

Although I don't subscribed to all these japa stuffs but I can gladly tell you that Kazakhstan is an excellent place. I got my first breakthrough there. Don't mind the kids talking rubbish here. They know nothing. However everything depends on what type of Visa you are entering with. Make sure you have skill in furniture or flooring.

Nigerians has been moving to anywhere in the world very long time ago. I know people who have lost thier lives thank God I did not follow that path about in 2005. Then it was mostly illegal migrant, now it legal migrant unlike before. Is just that social media is bring it closer to us by the day.

Kazakhstan isn't that bad. It's per capita income is about 4 times Nigeria. It matches that of Russia.

There's nothing to gain there for a Nigerian. A nairalander went there and committed suicide.

It's a very beautiful place, it's just like United Kingdom, the cost of living is very sheep, the people are very friendly, the weather is very friendly too, their standard of education is just like that of UK and it's very easy to get a job there. My landlord lived there for 25 years before relocating to Afghanistan after all members of his family were killed by the people.

True. He borrowed money from several people for the visa processing, flight tickets and pocket money when he gets there. He quit his job and suspended his master's program to chase greener pastures in a poor country where it's citizens are also looking for means to japa. Honestly it will take a very strong person with a strong support system not to be suicidal considering what that guy went through. If only he had reached out to his people when he returned, they would have rallied round him to help back to his feet. It's been over 4 years now and the shame would have been a thing of the past

In 2013, an agent conned one of my juniors. The agent promised to find him employment as English teacher in Kazakhstan. This boy doesn't even have the qualifications to be able to teach as English teacher, then. His highest qualification was an OND.


We knew the agent was lying; he was only after his money, but we were unable to talk this boy out of his plan.

When he arrived in Kazakhstan in 2013, he was unable to find employment as a teacher or in any other field.


He spent almost one and a half years there without a job. His mom sent money to him more than five times. Later, he visited their immigration office to request deportation, but they turned him down because they claimed they didn't have the funds to do that. Family members contributed to help him come back home in 2015. Now he is married and lives in Europe.

Note: Don't base your decision on this write-up because this incident happened in 2013. The country's economy might have changed by now.
