Government of lies. The reports were submitted. In fact when the registrar refused to collect, the legal reps of ASUU & NLC President were then involved. I WATCHED THE INTERVIEW ON CHANNELSTV WHERE FALANA CLEARED THE AIR ON THIS ISSUES. The FG is just being childish.
Another strike is smelling in the air.Its stench lies heavy on the air,yet some fools who would suffer from the strike, and their parents are planning on voting in the devil's party in the forthcoming elections.
FreeStuffsNG: Oshundun said, “Constitutionally, there is a provision of the Trade Union Act (Section 37, Subsection 1) that says every year ASUU must render an account of money remitted to the body. All ASUU members get a monthly deduction, which is usually given to ASUU every month to run their secretariat.
“They are also to submit an audited report of this money every year, but for four consecutive years, ASUU didn’t do that.
“The ministry wrote to ASUU, asking them why they haven’t submitted the audited report of monies collected for four years. ASUU got that letter and didn’t respond to it. They didn’t even write to acknowledge the receipt of the letter. A reminder letter was subsequently sent to ASUU, which was also ignored.
“Then the ministry decided that the check-off amount due, deducted by IPPIS for November, should not be released to ASUU. So, when they respond and explain how they spent the money released, the money held by IPPIS will be released to them.”
But Bolarin faulted the ministry’s position on the audit report.
He insisted that ASUU submitted the said report.
If after the ASUU Chairman was informed that ASUU is yet to submit its audited report for 4 years and he could not provide a contrary evidence and the mediocre journalist still could not demand from the ASUU chairman for proof of acknowledgement of the report he claimed was submitted then I really do not see why ASUU members should keep their current leaders in office.
Everything is so horribly wrong with ASUU that it is so disgraceful that such a body of folks who should be intellectuals are so intellectually inferior to the govt's team. ASUU so far lacked the right strategy and moral authority to take on govt. This is so so embarassing.
I am sure that within ASUU some members would have been complaining about their seemingly mediocre leadership and must have been protesting against the missteps of their leadership but they should not stop at that, they should elect new set of leaders who understand the seriousness of the responsibility upon ASUU members as intellectuals.
Now that you have said yours. Did you also consider the other side of the story too? What if ASUU submitted the said report but the Ministry is also looking at ways to frustrate ASUU as a body. When has the FG including the Ministry of Education ever been honest in anything?
So the Government that allowed doctors in just 1 state go on strike for 13 months is forgiven
Or the one that sacked the VC because oF ASUU strike is forgiven.... you people talk as if ....everybody has selective Amnesia like you
ASUU is a union created by law... The law says...unions should give an audited report of their finances... and on this the FG is right with holding their dues until they submit the report...
The university can suspend the student union Government based on the same principle and refuse to remit the SUG dues to it ....so why can't the federal government do the same
somebody must cure this madness...After ASUU..then move on to NMA,NBA,NURTW, PENGASAN, ICAN Then this union's too can fight back by demading for audited reports of the government finances....
Let the unions and the Government fight to the finish..till they get to the supreme court..so that we can set a precedence and end this rubbish once and for all
its so easy to point accusing fingers at others when we are guilty of the same thing If we all want a great nation...this are the kind of fights we should support. And not say because you hate the government their now...you abuse all their moves(good or bad) ...If the people you like gets there...they will face the same problem
Did you forget to read the report completely? Did you not read that part where ASUU said the report has been submitted?
. I know some ASU members will not vote APC especially IGBOS among them. Yet BAT will win the election. Let go to February for the defeat of the IGBOS In election!
its not only ASUU check off dues that are being withheld, various cooperatives on campus too have been denied their monthly remittances despite up to date audit reports. what concerns ippis with members who join cooperative groups? now people cannot access loans that they need urgently, seems to me that FG is simply trying to frustrate the tertiary university workers at all costs.

They did sir. The attached is a video interview granted by Falana in that regard.
HigherEd: This is a good decision by the fg. If ASUU can't be accountable on past funds, then they should be denied access to members money. Alternatively, the FG can make the dues a voluntary pay. If ASUU refuses to cooperate.
When will you guys learn to realize the lies being peddled by the FG aims to weaken ASUU while they hike the fees in public universities? Well the video below offers clarification

The report was submitted, sir. The interview by Femi Falana is an affirmation.
CUMIN: what federal government is demanding is legal and within the law.
why's ASUU refusing to release her audited report. intellectuals behaving like rascals.
Sometimes reading comments on NL do make me laugh because some of you guys just read for reading sake and not to comprehend or even read and get the fact out of it. I'm very sure you didn't base your conclusion on the whole article because if you do, you will definitely include the last part of it in your conclusion
frank14011991: ASUU is one of the most corrupt union.
One of the most corrupt? How much is the budget allocation for education again? The politicians stealing the bulk of the money should be the ones to blame. This is akin to the case of monkey dey work, baboon dey chop. The educational sector needs a more robust budget to match what is obtainable globally, otherwise we'll keep going in circles.

to
The said audit has been submitted since last year June/July..... I remember Femi Falana saying this on tv..... This govt just wants to keep causing unneeded wahala.... The audit was submitted...but they refused to receive it...so Femi fakana advised that ASUU should send it in by post office..... because in the court of law anything sent by post before or on the due date is acceptable as having been submitted and meeting deadline.
That they still intend to cause issues over this is simply stupidity to me..but let's wait and see
You can't blame FG for lawlessness and close your eyes on ASUU's lawlessness. This ASUU leadership must explain how they have been spending union dues for the last 4 years.
ASUU is an arrogant body, no accountability and no transparency. They have met their match.
The good thing is that ASUU can no longer go on strike as it is now. Any attempt would be contempt of court. And this APC Govt. that I know, will just disband them immediately.
After locking up ASUU leadership members that called for the strike. And ASUU leadership members knows this fact. They will lock them up in prison.
ASUU have lost public sentiment, Nigerians don't want to hear pim.... from ASUU again. This last strike was a miscalculated mistake by ASUU. And I blame ASUU's incompetent leadership.
So ASUU should go back to the classroom and teach.
Validated: FGN dey find trouble be that. Anyway, Buhari and Tinubu children do not school under ASUU lecturers, so no problems.
I can only pity urchins whose family members will suffer another elongated strike by ASUU.
ScamHunter: Vindictive government Vote a government that would represent Nigerians for once.
Not every issue should be looked at through the partisan politics which all of you are used to. How will Nigeria be better if everyone keeps being lawless?

You didn't read the last part were ASUU member said the financial report or audited report have been submitted to FG. ASUU should give a copy of the report they sent to FG to journalist to post it for the public to see.
