Hello House. Pls who knows why my CV shaft(not sure if that is the right name but pic attached) for my 2011 accord keeps going bad. It's driver side.It has not yet failed completely but i have had to change it three times(diff mechanics) in 6 months. It starts with a cranking noise when i turn right and progressively gets worse then i have to replace. One mechanic suggested i change the lower arm but i am not sure if that will fix it. Also the road to my house is a bit bumpy but i'm curious if that is the reason as i don't have issues with the one on the other side.

Good evening House.... Pls is it normal for engine oil level to drop after about 1000miles of car usage? |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by jceesquare(m): 9:16pm On Jan 04, 2023 |
WycliffeSMB:No it's not normal. |

BoyiBernard:Take your car to a competent computerized alignment shop and ask them to take a proper look at your wheels. Might be that your wheel is not properly aligned and it's transferring the pressure to the shaft. It has happened to me. Also check other mechanical components on your car like the thyroid, rack and wheel hub for defect. 1 Like |

Chae:Your alternator might not be supplying enough juice to power the car. Turn on the fan speed to the highest, full beam on the headlights, radio and wipper, then use a multimeter to read the battery current. If it's below 12.6V, hold a steady rev at 2,000 rpm. If there is no increase in the voltage reading, then your alternator is not charging fine. 1 Like |

WycliffeSMB:If the oil is not leaking, then it's burning out from your combustion chamber. What kind of car is it? |

Good afternoon. My Civic 06 popped up these codes: 1. C1555 2. C0300 3. P1157 4. P2185 5. C0700 Tried googling these codes and each of them are pointing to 4-5 things. I just want to know what each of them means and what I need to do to clear them. Thanks |

Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by WycliffeSMB(m): 6:53pm On Jan 05, 2023 |
jceesquare: It's a Honda Odyssey 2001 model. I took a closer look under the engine now and noticed some drops of oil on the bolts... that's probably the source of the leak. |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by WycliffeSMB(m): 6:59pm On Jan 05, 2023 |
Conner44:I don't know specifically what the previous owner used as I haven't done a complete oil change....but he said it's Mobil...he did the oil change few days before selling to me, and I've done about 1,600miles...so I topped up with 1 litre of Mobil Super 2000 (5w-30) |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Conner44: 7:11pm On Jan 05, 2023 |
WycliffeSMB: You need to fix the leak or else you keep on topping up your oil. Don’t let it run low on oil. That’s the number 1 engine killer waiting for you to mess up. |

Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by jceesquare(m): 9:50pm On Jan 05, 2023 |
WycliffeSMB:1 liter for 1,000 miles is on the high side and abnormal. Yes it is considered normal for some cars to burn through some oil before oil change, but it is very abnormal to burn out the entire oil before it's next oil change. |

Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by WycliffeSMB(m): 10:33pm On Jan 05, 2023 |
jceesquare: Okay... I get your point. Thanks. Can you recommend the best engine oil to use for my next change? Car is Honda Odyssey 2001 with 158k mileage |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by jceesquare(m): 1:41am On Jan 06, 2023 |
WycliffeSMB:If your car burns a 5W30 oil weight, I'll suggest you switch to a slightly thicker oil (like a 10W40). Use any brand you can afford (as long as it's genuine) with an equally good filter. |
