jceesquare:Okay....My car doesn't burn oil...the exhaust is very clear and colourless ...it doesn't smoke atal. Just some leaks under the engine which I intend to fix today or tomorrow... I wouldn't wanna use any oil outside the recommended grade.(5w-30). Pls suggest a good filter that can go with Mobil 1. |

Hello house. My 2017 Honda pilot V6 jerks (very lightly and barely noticeably) when accelerating between 35 and 50mph. It also takes time to accelerate from 35-65mph in general. When I turn off the Economy mode, the acceleration is a little smoother, but not completely. I am guessing this is some transmission issue, but have no idea what it really is. This car was recently bought used and the mileage is relatively fair (67k). I do not know if this is a common issue with Honda because I have always used Toyota and I have never had this kind of issue. Please advise, and thanks. |

WycliffeSMB:Check Jiji, jumia or your local part store for price sir. If they don't have they should supply another good alternative |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by jceesquare(m): 4:15pm On Jan 06, 2023 |
Capitas7:If you suspect there's an issue with the transmission, you can scan it with a professional scanner that can scan transmission to see if it has trouble codes. Post the codes if any for remote assistance. |

WycliffeSMB: Stick to OEM Honda Filter. I used to have a few lying but I doubt any still remains at the moment. |

kingreign:Okay. Can you direct me on where to get a genuine one? Is Fram a good alternative? |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by kingreign(m): 11:55pm On Jan 06, 2023 |
WycliffeSMB:I don’t know your location, Fram is a good aftermarket part, but ensure you get your parts from reliable sources. |

Thurmieee:Have you solved this issue? |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by 9icetoo(m): 8:04am On Jan 07, 2023 |
Capitas7:Normal issue. Not a death sentence. Scan for codes. Won't be surprised if there are no codes. |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Thurmieee: 8:09am On Jan 07, 2023 |
RuneKingThor:Nope....I eventually sold off the car when it wanted to kill me. I got no help. Still took it to oyingbo no solution. |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by RuneKingThor: 1:00pm On Jan 07, 2023 |
Thurmieee:That's crazy. When the Rpm dropped, was there smell of petrol around the car or did it smoke? It could have been a case of petrol flooding one of the cylinders. |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Thurmieee: 3:16pm On Jan 07, 2023 |
RuneKingThor:Nope. The car would just not accelerate if I come to a stop. They set the timing countless times. The timing was always jumping |

Mafuba: Check your break fluid and top accordingly. Check if your hand brake is malfunctioning. Check your brake pads. It will disappear…. |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by vivalavida(m): 7:06am On Jan 08, 2023 |
Mafuba:Service your brake callipers. That should clear it. Had same experience last year. Even put new pads. It was when I serviced my calliper that it cleared |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Capitas7: 7:30am On Jan 08, 2023 |
jceesquare: Thank you sir. I went for a scan yesterday and it returned "0 DTC". The best immediate help I could get to understand what that meant was a Google search which did not really help. I am not sure if the scanner is sophisticated enough as you recommended. 9icetoo: That's relieving to know. Much appreciated sir. I am not sure if there could have been more codes, but I really hope it's nothing major as you guessed. |

Ajaytobey24:I nearly bought this civic. Thank God for my younger brother who made me change my mind. I have seen more than 10 people complain about this civic adjuster bolt. Na wa. |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Conner44: 2:11pm On Jan 09, 2023 |
Ajaytobey24: This civic engine and its adjuster always has issues only in Nigeria. It’s like the serpentine belt that people use here are either the wrong size or maybe the adjuster itself is failing and due for a change. If I were you, I’d have 2 options now. 1. I will do whatever you did 3 months ago when you repaired it last, but this time also remember to change the adjuster itself too just in case that is where the issue is from. Also have you changed the belt before? make sure your belt is the factory recommended size. Sometimes people use shorter/smaller belts and it causes the type of issues you’re having. 2. If that doesn’t work I will then take the engine to a machinist who will bore the adjuster bolt hole on the engine block itself to a wider diameter then use a bigger bolt for it. 3 Likes |

Conner44: A mechanic said they can change the adjuster to adjustment, how possible is dat cos also I had experience power steering bot breaking and also the compressor in the past.. my main problem in this car av been from this belt side of my car and I'm getting fed up.. pls do u have idea of adjustment |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Ajaytobey24: 2:50pm On Jan 09, 2023 |
Conner44: Thanks bro ,am thinking of the second option and also a mechanic told me Abt adjustment because I have changed so many belts and the problem still persist, I just dey tired of this particular problem |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by kingreign(m): 3:55pm On Jan 09, 2023 |
Ajaytobey24: Buy another belt, Replace adjuster, and bolt, sack mechanic, employ a highly competent mechanic who knows how to install the serpentine belt properly. For reference, watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trnn1JbquNo |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by Conner44: 5:13pm On Jan 09, 2023 |
Ajaytobey24: The only common thing that links all these other components in your engine whose bolts you say have broken in the past is the adjuster and belt . I believe if you change both at the same time this issue should be taken care off. |
