Hello guys. Please what is the average gas cost for a 2bedroom flat. EPC rating E. I topped up £30 2days ago and now it's remaining just £9. Is this normal or is something wrong with the meter. I own the heater for about 7hrs 2days ago, 5hrs yesterday and barely 3hrs today.

You are even owing them money........ What do you understand by the term, increased cost of living/energy crisis.......... wink

In 3 days, only you put heating on full blast for over 15 hours .......... grin tongue

That your EPC rating is the problem. All your heat is leaking out as you generate it

Credit cards no be public funds. It's private gbese (debt).

It's entirely between you and the provider, just like any other loan.

Are you planning to get your score to 100000?

You are just stressing yourself for nothing.

The higher range credit score takes years to achieve and there are several factors that impact achieving that high score.

Applying for multiple lines of credit will not increase your credit score. It will either stagnante your score or decrease it. Instead stick to one line of credit (maximum 2), maintain excellent account usuage and work on increasing your credit limit for each line of credit. Imagine having a limit of £16,000 on amex, what other credit card am I looking for again

You can get a mortgage with your existing score. Lenders look at a lot of factors and not necessarily your credit score. I have seen new immigrants (those on tier 2) without credit cards get mortgages within a year in this country and in one example, one of the named individuals on the mortgage application (spouse) wasn't even on the electoral roll.

The underwriters look at a lot of factors- your occupation, employer, how long you've been employed, how far you are from retirement age, affordability, outgoings, number of dependents, account usage, income, etc.

This is why is a good mortgage broker is worth their weight in gold. They can package your application to the underwriters highlighting all the positive factors and mitigating any risks or concerns that the underwriters might raise.

Please can you recommend any good mortgage broker and their contact details

Many of them actually know next to nothing about Africa. While on placement, one young carer asked if he would have to cross a boat to get to Africa. It didn't stop there ooo, I kept being hounded by questions about monkeys and if we had fruits and nice things in Africa. I kept answering until I literally got exasperated...Like how wouldn’t you even know? I have also been in a class where some students didn't know that Africa is a continent of several countries...I can go on and on ooo...Lol

I honestly believe that the educational system here needs to do better. They know more other continents than ours. The media also does not help in it's negative portrayal of Africa.

Sorry for the long post biko...This matter don dey vex me since

I was in a meeting at work during black history month and some of the white colleagues admitted that black history is not taught in schools and were advocating for it to be included in their school curriculum which confirms what you're saying. But for football and other sports most know next to nothing about Africa

Chairman, based on your experience, what finance roles make the most money here in the UK?

It's not really about the money which In my opinion should not be first consideration as a new immigrant. You need to have the required skills, experience and credentials especially UK recognised qualifications to stand out. I know in recent times, KYC and AML (anti money laundering) related roles are becoming more in demand. Audit especially Technical Audit (a combo of audit and analytics) is becoming more popular. In all, the issues of climate change which is now known as ESG reporting which is a requirement by govt for most companies now has heightened the need for financial reporting with ESG ( Environmental and social governance) expertise. I think with these, one will have an advantage in getting high end roles or jobs. The question however is if one meets the requirements.

I don't work in any of these areas so my knowledge may be limited. Am a Business Analyst within program and change management. I only have some knowledge of ESG as I have taken some courses in it.

But why would they want to know about Africa....... Africa is a completely failed project, our leaders lack vision on true leadership and how to grow economies.......

If Africa development was in sync with the west, they would all be dashing to Africa...... But corruption no gree, bad leadership, racism, tribal sentiments, bigotry, nepotism, favouritism...... To name but a few ........

Africa is not a completely failed project bro. The fact that some of us come with even our so called yeye degrees from Africa and they equate it to theirs means we've got some stuff too. The skills and experience some of us brought into this country have proven to be relevant too. It shows something that they need to have more knowledge about our continent. Hitler was a bad taste for the Germans but the history is being taught all over the world

Yea, a friend of mine an experienced banker from naija got the certification and he's been moving from one contract role to another earning good pay. Recently got a full time offer with Bank of America.

Why do the terrible one's, have to rule over the best of us ...... Yet you think the system is not warped.......

Imagine all of us staying within a working Africa, and continually building our continent........ They would have to learn about Africa, by force ...... We would be the continent to loan monies to the world .......

I feel you bro, but what can we do? some of us were patriotic until sapa graduated to shege and we discovered we could be better in our personal lives hence we had to move. If the country improves, we will in turn take our experience here back to contribute our quota but for now make count the pounds small, e go better grin

Hello please do you know how they calculate the ihs refund payment if I paid 1270 like how much would I get back. Thank you
Sorry for the late response, I have been busy.

The UK has what is called a fiscal year for some of her services eg a tax year (for 2022/2023, it’s April 6 to April 5). Probably for administrative ease.
In regard to IHS refund, it’s from 31st March or after, of the year under review.
- it’s a staggered payment, so, you only need payslip for the first 6 months and ensuring that you have worked a minimum of 16hours per week.
- yeah, your application should fly
