Ikengawo the envious bitter frustrated fellow, at least there are flyovers to point but there's one functional flyover in imo state to paint. The mural is a modern paint works. We don't need your validation to know that it is good and beautiful.

Ofodirinwa:

If you go to instagram and see the level of art ndiigbo alone are producing. you'll know this 1980s mural is unserious. also nigerisans have to learn paint without buffing an apoxy will look ugly and dead after a few rains and if the original artist doesn't return how will you replicate this piece year after year?

Uzodinma should do something about the substandard ugly owerri flyover

Ofodirinwa:

Green white and green as very ugly colors. Nothing sensible can be done with them. But how unimaginative are our leaders? is the statue of liberty red white and blue? Is there a union jack on london bridge? Is the great wall of China red?

Why is it everytime they want to apply their useless, unimaginative, money siphoning projects they will now take paint and cover the thing in green white and green just to let you know it's zoological in nature. What other country does this? To have such a depressing uninspiring flag is one thing.

Nigeria is a sick place. People with talent will never be hired to use their talent. The person will go abroad, successed and the Nigerian government will be using that person to flex. Instead of to hiring the world. IGBO artists are making waves all over the world. Some of them are even from Awka. If you don't know anything about art, why commission are projects? Nwanne look at those stupid pictures in that painting. 100% of them are from the first page of Google.

There was totally no need for flyover there compared to control post.
That flyover is not been used yet traffic flows well around. That priority was a stupid one.

The reason for the flyover was the design of Owerri ring road which didn't give room for any obstruction as it was designed to be a freeway. The structure is solid but finishing was substandard, it can be remedied with little inputs, I would have preferred normal junction than the flyovers.
As for control area, the roundabout should be removed and traffic lights installed, flyover there will be overly expensive because it won't be a one way bridge but multiple way.
Owerri ring road should be finished totally before touching control roundabout, in order to manage traffic volume.

You bitter envious imo people have carried your frustration into this thread simply because because of flyover painting, does owerri have ordinary flyover? Owerri has worse roads than any state capital in Nigeria but you ediot is here talking of Awka and Anambra in general that Soludo has turned to a construction site. Why are you people always bitter and pained?

Mumu don't run, you know I promised to always teach you some lesson each time you show up. Lol

Anambra has three major cities, but imo has one, imo hasn't been able to at least develop their state capital which is still a glorified village. This is why imo indigenes have kept relocating in their millions to more developed Anambra cities of Awka and Onitsha. Who actually cursed imo state?

Owerri deserves to be demolished and rebuilt with a decent infrastructures as these ones

Owerri has remained like an abandoned glorified village. The substandard flyover in Owerri has been turned to a dirty motorpark. Grgton is crying because he cannot understand why owerri has continued to be worse than qba

1. Owerri flyover

Keep crying envious frustrated clown. At least you can see the traffic lights mounted which means it works, meanwhile you don't have flyover in Owerri not to talk of traffic light on it. We quite understand why you are bitter. cheesy

Almost 100% of the roads in Owerri are dilapidated muddy or dusty, depending on the season. There's almost no existence of good inner roads in Owerri. What I showed you is some of the inner roads and flyovers in Awka. I honestly understand why you are always bitter, it is because Owerri is a glorified village littered with dilapidated muddy/dusty roads. Watch the video of Owerri so you can weep for that village cheesy

I will keep posting the flyovers because you don't have it in Owerri village lol

Also these roads are inner city roads not express.

Your envy and frustration won't stop imo indigenes from their continued relocation to Anambra cities of Awka and Onitsha, instead your frustration will increase because good imo people knows better place to relocate to. You don't even have one road in imo state with covered drainage Lol

You are very correct. It is very bad that Owerri has remained more or less a village with no major signature infrastructure. It is unfortunate what Imolites are passing through in that backward state

About the Owerri ring road. Has that plan actually been in the government's book. I only heard about Owerri ring road during ohakims tenure.

It's there in the Owerri master plan, Ohakim just kicked off the implementation, starts from pH road through federal sec road to mopol junction onitsha road, then Egbeada bypass road to Orlu road then spibat road to Okigwe road, outstanding section is between orji Mbaise Naze to Aba road connecting back to pH expressway through poly nekede ihiagwa futo road.

I posted this on the Ebonyi thread and felt it would be good to repost it on other south-east state threads as well so we can have a constructive discussion on how to improve on our cities and make them world-class.

I wanted to upload two YouTube clips of Port Harcourt and Abakaliki so we could make a comparative analysis of the two cities to see what the Ebonyi state gov't can improve on to make Abakaliki look even better. I'm impressed with how Wike has improved the aesthetis, ambience, cleanliness, greenery and order of Port Harcourt, and there's a lot the state gov'ts of Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Imo and Abia can borrow from Rivers state to improve on our major cities in the south-east.

Rivers state receives much more by way of federal allocation, 13% derivation and IGR than any state in the south-east, so it would be unfair to expect major cities in the south-east to look as good as Port Harcourt. However, there are little things we could do to improve on our cities and make them look almost as good (and in the case of Owerri and Enugu....even as good) as Port Harcourt.

In Port Harcourt, notice how there's hardly any unsightly bare/muddy open spaces by the road sides. For the most part, it's either sidewalks (with underground drainage) and carpet grass. This makes the street look neat and clean, and limits the dust/mud/sediment that we normally see on roads in our cities in the south-east as well as limits the amount of dust in the atmosphere. Also, notice the roads are swept, marked and (for the most part) have working traffic lights. There's also little roadside clutter and unsightly signages as commercial activities are better organised. These are all achieved by having a working and committed state and local gov't. You normally see the no-nonsense governor going about and reading the riot act where necessary so everyone knows nonsense wouldn't be tolerated. You hardly see the governors of Enugu, Imo and Abia going about and keeping everyone on their toes...only the governors of Anambra and Ebonyi are doing well in this regard.

Notice there's a planned and concerted efforts at tree planting, and not the half-assed attempt we see in our cities in the south-east. With Abakaliki, one can notice Umahi likes to concrete over everywhere and doesn't seem to care much about organised tree planting (like we see done in Abuja) or covering open grounds on the sides of the road with well manicured carpet grass. There's been some attempt at tree palnting in Abakaliki, but as i said, it's more of a half-hearted attempt and not uniform.

I remember when Amaechi was governor of Rivers state, there was a gov't policy that perimiter walls of individual and commercial properties should be at a certain distance from the roads, and this led to the demolition of the walls of many properties in Port harcourt as greedy landlords had built their perimeter walls almost on top of the roads in the city. This is another problem we have with our cities in the south-east...walls of properties being built as close to the roads as possible, and the unwillingness of our gov'ts to use the Amaechi approach so space can be created for sidewalks and some greenery. However, cities like Enugu, Owerri, Aba and Onitsha have planned parts that conform with this rule of setting perimeter walls of properties at some distance away from the roads.

Finally, like i acknowledged before, south-east states are not as wealthy as Rivers state, but if we're going to use localised labour and localised contractors to do some of our roads, then we need to get them to improve on their finishing. Ebonyi state gov't has tried in the use of localised labour for the construction of its major and inner-city roads, but you can see they don't compare with the roads JB built in and around Port Harcourt city. State gov'ts can get some experienced civil engineers from these multi-national civil engineering coys to impact their knowledge on our own homegrown engineers so the finishing of their jobs can be just as good as the ones done by foreigners.

Owerri Master Plan?

Every gov of Imo state right after Dee Mbakwe continued to look for Owerri Master Plan up to this day. It has been construction and demolishing in Owerri and rebuilding in Owerri up till today. What about Orlu Master Plan, as well as the Master Plans for other urban centres in Imo state for whom Imo state was created to develop?

I remember former governor Ihedioha say that Orlu and Okigwe must be given a befitting Master Plan.
He left, even the urban roads reconstruction works his govt started in Orlu were all stopped by governor Hope Uzodinma.
Owerri Master Plan search has become an avenue to steal govt funds in Imo state. Who steals the funds that should have gone into providing Master Plan and urban infrastructures for Orlu, Okigwe and the other urban centres in Imo state?

Afikpo must have been thanking God for removing it from Okigwe zone in present Imo state, and placing it in Ebonyi State, considering the level of urban development in Afikpo under Ebonyi State.
If Afikpo was left in present Imo state with Owerri as capital city, Afikpo must have become worse than it was before the civil war, more or less what Orlu and Okigwe remain today under Owerri as capital city of Imo state.

People come online to project who will get what during 2023 elections but don't even know what's happening in the East. In rural areas of Imo State, for example, unknown gunmen are going about threatening people not to come out and vote on election day.

In fact, we saw them kill an INEC official after they warned people several times about registering for PVC, but they ignored such threats. If things continue like this, voter apathy in the South East, especially in rural communities, is likely to be the worst in the country.

Where all this is headed is already becoming scary because it appears we are going to learn something the hard way - no matter the level of disdain you think the Nigerian state has for us, never allow non-state actors to bear arms under any guise because it doesn't end well. It's quite unfortunate that we allow ignoramuses and illiterates make decisions for us.

Who sponsors the so-called unknown gunmen in the SE?
It's hard to believe that any Igbo man without SELFISH POLITICAL INTERESTS will entertain any dissuation of voters in the SE from going out to vote given the great opportunity available now for an Igbo man to succeed President Buhari. Igbo leaders, if there are still any left, need to search for the people sponsoring the unknown gunmen in the SE before the self-centered Igbo person or persons, succeed in stopping people in the SE from trooping out to cast their votes during the presidential election.

Uzodimma’s SkillUpImo Project receives private sector support

*Two tech enthusiasts make cash, IT donations to drive initiative

SkillUpImo Project, the youths digital skills empowerment programme being implemented under the Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma’s administration as the Executive Governor of Imo State, has received fresh boost and appeal with private sector players already keying into the vision to turn Imo State into a leading digital hub in Nigeria.

Two individuals, Chief Leo Stan Ekeh, Founder of Zinox Technologies and Mr. Innocent Chibuzor Unoha, President and Chief Executive Officer of Inno & Bisco Groups, have demonstrated their support to the State Government’s vision to transform Imolites (Imo State citizens) into global citizens with relevant digital skills in the 21st Century.

Ekeh made a cash donation of N12.5 million to the State’s Ministry of Digital Economy and E-government, the ministry implementing the SkillUpImo Project, to support the effort of the State Governor in training and empowerment of Imolites with employability skills in emerging and mainstream technologies.

Ekeh’s Zinox Technologies is one of Africa’s most integrated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) company, first Nigerian internationally-certified ICT firm also rated as a leading ICT firm in Africa as a whole.

Ekeh, an illustrious son of Imo State and Forbes rated billionaire and IT guru, has supported the Imo digital initiative not just financially but has job opportunities awaiting 200 graduate trainees of the SkillUpImo project with specialisation in phone repairs, digital marketing, and so on.

While thanking the donors, for their actions, described as a good sign of public buy-in and embrace of the forward thinking and innovative leadership of the Hope Uzodimma’s administration, the Commissioner said the gestures were symptomatic of the donors philanthropic and corporate social responsibility to the efforts of Uzodimma.

Amadi, who called on other corporate bodies, illustrious sons and daughters of Imo State and well-meaning Nigerians to come forward and support this noble project of rescuing our future generation and equip them with relevant digital skills, stated that private sector partnership and collaboration in digital economy is very crucial as it drives businesses, speeds up innovation, creates jobs, wealth, aids in building modern, sustainable and reliable infrastructure, and makes for cost-efficient operations.

The SkillupImo Project is the premier human capacity development programme focused on empowering Imolites with cutting-edge digital skills that will keep them relevant in the 21st century with the target to, among others, train 300,000 Imolites over the next three years. They would be trained in both entry and advanced-level digital skills such as computer appreciation, device repairs and maintenance, content creation, web design and development, Internet of Things (IoT), Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data Analytics, Cybersecurity and so on in order to drive ICT-enabled social economic growth and development in the State.

Just watched a video online where late Prof Dora Akunyili said Peter Obi as gov of Anambra state
embarked on public water supply system in many locations of Anambra state. I am aware that gov Umahi built a multi million Dollar surface water supply system in Ebonyi State, like the type completed by late Mbakwe in Owerri but half completed in Okigwe.

Since 2011, Imo state has been blessed or cursed with governors (except Emeka Ihedioha), who tell themselves LIES: governors who tell themselves lies that cities, urban and rural areas are not provided with treated portable water supply system; set of governors who tell themselves the LIE that private water borehole system is a substitute for treated portable water supply system; after they stole money that should provide treated portable water supply system and forced the citizens to did private water boreholes.
