It's called an open book exams .....not literarily expo as u think. With that open book exams, it doesn't guarantee the person will pass with a high margin. I'm also in the UK and I know what it means to write an exam like this.

I wrote a UK project management exam at the British Council Abuja, open book exam. The textbook was just useless to me.

This is how modern day exams are set, why because the old method forces students to cram answers, here a student understands that he's not a sole repository of knowledge and can actually search for answers ,research and make better choices. The exams are not straight forward and there's no right or wrong just a way to share your opinion and reasons for your decisions.

Nigerian systems favours the crammers over those who actually seek knowledge , this is why many come out of school and have no idea what to do with themselves.

It means that even if you use library, you can't answer the questions without thinking

I can bet you. She'll still fail the open test. While it may seem easy, word-to-word answers mean failure. It's more critical than we may think.

I've done plenty of open exams in UK. Your calculator, books will be useless. Because the questions will be too technical

Na person wey de go lecture debsabi do expo.I remember our days at Unizik,Engineering ,one lecturer signs our expo,mostly formulas,but i tell you if you no de go lectures u can't use the formulas cos they were all inter related.

All my exams in UK,I did it in my room without going to school and allowing you to access text books or Google does not mean you are cheating, it simply means you are also researching.

Nigerians should learn by not putting everything that happens in this UK online all the time.

Open book exams are the most difficult.

A lecturer gave us one in first semester 3rd year. Second semester, we politely begged him to allow us close book.

when u attempt a UK institution's open book exam, u will beg them to give u a close book one. U wount see a single answer in the book. U will end up wasting your time opening page after page of textbook.

It's an open book test....and it's sometimes harder than the normal test.

It's not expo, but 'open book test as people have explaining on the thread. In an open book test' or exam, they will allow you to take text books, calculators to exam hall. You may be allowed to make use of Google, but all of them will be useless to you, bc none of the answers will be from them.

Hmnn! More practicals less theories. Nigerian schools should start this immediately; it's the true test of knowledge.

moreover, exam is just about 30% of the total grading system. The numerous assignment, quiz and so on takes up the rest.

If it is through an open textbook test it is more difficult than the normal test because they are usually not direct question and the answer in not in any text book
