the dude I quoted made mention of "large scale of characters with many important role ,you can't write anyone off"

I was curious asked him how it stands out in comparison to shows like GOT...

If you cannot answer the question, kindly sit aside and wait for him to answer me
If there are large scale of characters that you can't write off, doesn't it attest to the fact that the show had a good character development and building??

You are clearly trying to be a clown on purpose and i leave you to wallow in your buffoonery.

Herd mentality is really a thing...

Some shows are critically acclaimed as one of the best ever...

I checked reviews of Breaking Bad, and decided it was worth watching...despite being bored in first 2 seasons, I continued cos I knew clearly what I was gonna get..

And it did not disappoint

I checked reviews of The Wire...all the reviews I saw said nothing tangible as to why it has its goat status...
I decided to put it on hold for months cos I had no reason to watch

Apparently this is a problem for some people lmao grin grin

I think this is where Netflix comes in

Waiting every week for 1 episode is boring
Abeg Netflix should stay away from this one.
1 episode per week has pretty much worked for all of HBO's top shows. Keeps people talking about the show and coming back for more.

can you mention some characters that had this great development and what they started out to what they later became?

Maybe this will convince me to give it a watch

you're copying their tactics...

Internet 101:
When you have no point to make, run away and throw insults to deflect

I mean how hard is the question...
You said it has great character development and you can't even tell me 1 or 2 characters with how they developed

From what they started out as to what they became

Or maybe you're just throwing words without substance
Cos as far as I know, everyone who has watched Breaking Bad can explain the character development of Walter White even in a few sentences

So why can't you give examples for The Wire...

So many people are responding to me, yet all are dodging questions

We have never canceled a successful show. A lot of these shows were well-intended but talk to a very small audience on a very big budget." - Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos

maybe I might consider it when you stop running away from the points I made last night

Okay. All the points you made last night was totally valid. The reviews of the Wire were very vague without pushing you to see for yourself why it's so special.

When are we expecting the detailed review this week?? At least one review would be appreciated. Then maybe next week the lecture can continue from there so as to enlighten more people in this section what a proper review should be like and what they should look out for.

@ Baddestguyp , don't allow anyone bully you into watching a show you're not interested in. I watched The Wire season 1, since then I haven't looked back, the show isn't all that.

A successful show is not a show that is well written, but a show that is still in profit after the budget has been removed.

This is why shows like flash are still ongoing, they are low budget and low risk show with some profit, Also good shows will continue to have new seasons till it becomes non profitable, example Westworld, and what Succession is becoming.

If you think about it
- Why cancel a show that is still bringing in profit.

- Why finish a show that was successful, example the unnecessary Sequel of Squid Game, and the endless parts of Attack On Titan.

This also apply to movies.

the problem with this system is that it leads to good shows getting cancelled easily...
Not all shows peak early ...
Some shows need some seasons to reach its peak

For your example, it leads to a useless show like Flash being renewed over far better quality shows...but from the studio's perspective it is smart business

For other examples:
Squid Game doesn't need a second season, it wasn't written for a second season in mind...
The second season will most likely dip in quality

For Attack on Titan, it's an adaptation of a manga written by one person, so as long as there is content to adapt, it will be done

I personally don't like the model where IPs are owned by companies/ studios rather than people.

I still prefer the model where a single person writes a story from start to finish

Before a movie is declared to be profitable, it must make enough money at the box office, usually X2 of the amount spent as the movie budget.
For example if a movie is produced with $100, it must make at least $200 to $250 ( depending on the marketing cost which is a lot these days) to be profitable. If it fails then it's a box office bomb.
Plus movies make more than their box office life time gross through DVD sales, streaming, selling of merchandise etc.

I've played the last of us, it's a pretty good game with stunning visual and emotional attachment. It seems the series is doing quite well, all the reviews I've read so far are okay. They say it's just like the game. Is it on prime or HBO max ?
You’ll find the show anywhere you can view Game Of Thrones legally.

Shanty town is 8/10 for me.
This is by far the most interesting Nigeria series ever in history based on personal opinion.
I swear!!! They tried, i am impressed, really really really impressed.
It was before i watched the series, it was about the nudes of Nancy isime but after about episode 2, it went from the nudes to a whole different ball game about politics and politicians in NIGERIA especially Lagos State NIGERIA..

Watching the series, you will begin to see and unravel the deep secrets about Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.

Forget about the nudes of Nancy isime, this series is the truth. Deep secrets revealed.

The last episode is one of the best series finally ever, i was on my sit from starting to ending.

The casts, all of them were tremendous, especially scar, the guy was born for the role and the karate and the fights in the last scene gave me goosebumps 😎😎😎😎😎
The series is simply fire πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

And i like the fact that there will be season 2.

Congratulations to NIGERIA πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ we are getting there✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️

If a show have more than 90% Rotten Tomatoes rating, It IS good. Whether you enjoy/like it or not is only a matter of taste.

When Sneaky pete was released, the rating was 100% (currently 96% after 3 seasons.), I still haven't seen it. The story just didn't appeal to me as much as, say, Bodyguard (UK), Strike back, Fringe or even Lucifer.

I assume you meant "one of the best series finale ever"

This has to be cap sha...unless you're comparing it with other Nollywood series, then I'll agree...

While most other Nollywood shows tend to fall apart in the last episode, this one didn't

I don't rate Rotten Tomatoes critics reviews...

What do you think about IMDb ratings then?
same thing ...

I generally trust users over critics...

If over 70% of users who reviewed a show think the show good then it most likely has something worth watching...

If over 90% say a show is good then it most likely is very good at least to a certain generic of people i.e those who like comedy

Same as IMDB stars or scores
