A very wrong way of approach...if they had refused to do transaction with anybody without a PVC, it would have atleast be understandable..

But,what can d gov do??atleast they were silent about d jagaban army in uniform..

It is more of doing anyhow and seeing no repercussions cos d gov,/presidency have failed in one way to do d right thing when her citizen does something wrong n unusual...

Apparently the traders themselves have been doing things like this it seems coz na still them dey defend their own actions.

They have a union

They were voting late into the night at Ede when other LG had already started announcing the results of the election.

Adeleke will appeal the judgement anyways since it's a 2 - 1 judgement.

It was almost bound to go all the way.
When is the appeal?

There were 3 judges on the panel. 2 agreed to sack Adeleke and 1 disagreed.

Ooh, okay

I honestly doubt there's any hope for Adeleke even if he appeals. This is the result of a court judgement in his own state which he controls.

The most common thing I've seen like in Omehia vs Amaechi and in several other instances is that the lower court usually gives victory to the sitting Governor then the supreme Court will overturn.

This one the lower court already ruled in Oyetolas favour, it looks like the case will be DOA at the appeal and supreme court.

Most likely. The moment overvoting was confirmed by the tribunal, there was no going back.

I want to read the minority report though, that's what will form Adeleke basis for appeal if he appeal.

I don't think Governorship election appeal gets to Supreme Court anymore, I think it terminate at the Court of Appeal.

Help us the lazy students with your observations when you do.

I'm particularly interested in this one because it will show that with or without BVAS, dagbo can still happen.

How BVAS didn't stop the overvoting is what I don't understand.

Hopefully the release the judgement sheet soon so we can see.

You are right. Wikes case did seem like the exception. Off my head, Amaechi vs Omehia and Ihedioha vs Uzodinma are examples of sitting governors who won at the lower court but got sacked by the supreme Court.

In any case, fingers crossed.

The number of votes recorded was more than the registered and accredited voters, where did the voters come from?
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by larride(m): 1:31pm On Jan 27, 2023

Returing officers are almost always compromised

It is why the on air declaration of presidential results in 2015 was a masterstroke.

They simple cancelled all the votes from those polling units that overvoting happened in.

You can read the electoral act for reference on overvoting.

How is over voting still possible with BVAs

Na only INEC fit answer that question because total votes were more than accredited votes in those polling units.

Both INEC lawyers and Adeleke lawyers actually agreed that overvoting took place, Adeleke lawyers only challenged the spread of the overvoting.
