That's Obosi abd it is beautiful. Show us similar towns in SE or anywhere else in Nigeria that comes close to being beautiful as that of Obosi. Anambra is beautiful abd also the most developed state in igboland. Deal with it

This is beautiful. Obosi and Oba has merged

Obosi, Anambra State 📍

Look at the many buildings you can see on the landscape area captured in this frame. This is just a town in Idemili North LGA, a neighbouring town to the commercial city of Onitsha. I couldn’t help but stop to take these shots! Beautiful!

Anambra is the best and most developed state in igboland

Anambra is actually a state with many Cities.
Is it Onitsha? Oba? Obosi? Nkpor? Ogidi? Nkwelle-Ezunaka? Odekpe? Abagana? Enugwu-Ukwu? Nawfia? Amawbia? Awka? Agulu? Agukwu-Nri? Nimo? Neni? Ekwulobia? Oraukwu? Nnobi? Nnewi? Amichi? Osumenyi? Ozubulu? Ihiala? Etc etc... All these are autonomous towns but mini cities on their own

Wouldn’t go as far as to term it a slum, but i looked at the pic effusive comments were being made about and i shook my head in exasperation! Our standards as a people and what we consider acceptable in governance have drastically diminished from colonial times! I remember reading excerpts from books and journals of colonial travellers into Igboland, and the fact they took time to document how neat, clean and organised our villages of the time were! Now look where we find ourselves today!

Fact of the matter is it wouldn’t take that much to improve on that scene: just reconstruct the road with underground drainage and sidewalks on top (the road looks wide enough for it), properly mark the road and include the necessary signages, plant trees on either side, add street lights, then include one or two open/green spaces where you can add seats, shrubs/flowers and a fountain or two! Not forgetting that we also need to imbibe the habit of sweeping our major roads at least once every fortnight!

You are one person I still respect on this forum because of your balanced posts. But instead of feeling somewhat about the effusive comments, you should have cautioned the ediot that looked at a well planned and built up neighbourhood in Obosi and termed it a slum. Why is it that whenever it comes to Anambra a lot bitter frustrated envious people would spring up to tell us what should be and what shouldn't. If anyone is saying that Obosi I see in that picture isn't beautiful based on what we have in Nigeria, then the person should show us a similar town on Obosi level anywhere in igboland or Nigeria at larger let's compare and contrast.

Obosi has some nice areas but this road is not one of them. Some of the better towns in Anambra from an aesthetic angle imho are Enugwu Ukwu, Nise, Nibo, Nimo.

Little Things That Matter

By Uche Nworah, PhD

I am glad to see that the ICT Centre built by Honourable Dozie Nwankwo is up and running. He is the member representing Dunukofia, Njikoka and Anaocha federal constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, and also the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Anambra Central Senatorial Zone in the coming elections. The 350-capacity centre was commissioned by the Governor of Anambra state, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo in December 2022.

The centre which is located in Enugwu-Ukwu is to serve the people of his constituency, Dunukofia, Njikoka, Anaocha local governments and beyond.

You can imagine my joy this morning as I saw these pictures online showing students learning ICT in the centre. Seeing even some of them wearing isiagu native clothes drew it home further for me. It depicted in my mind the true import of what Hon. Nwankwo has done, bringing ICT to our rural communities for the benefits of rural students.

I remember my MBA class in the 90s at the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC). I took a semester course in Computing but we never saw a computer. Everything was drawn on the black board for us by the teacher. I managed to get a C grade in that course nevertheless.

I hope these children appreciate the opportunities that have been given to them. I also hope that this initiative will be sustained, and that it will be replicated across all our rural communities by not only politicians, but brands, organisations and individuals with means. It will be an enduring legacy.

Governor Soludo Describes Human Capital As South East Region's Only Dependable Resource

As a way of deepening human capital development in the South East region and the country, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has pushed for increased labour force participation and mobility in the country.

Governor Soludo made the call at the International Convention Center, Awka during South East Human Capital Development Conference which drew participants from the region and beyond.

The Governor who stressed that boundaries that make the labour force function in "silos", will always limit progress, advocated an easier means for sharing of skills to increase productivity in the country.

While recalling that the South East has the smallest land mass of all the regions in the country, the least natural resources and with a huge of its productive resources domiciled outside the region, the Governor hoped that the conference will identify ways through which the human capital assets of the region can be fully tapped.

He also emphasized that ninety-nine percent of the resources needed to develop the region is in private hands, suggesting that to achieve effective results, models such as Public, Private, Community Partnership and other benchmarks and case studies beyond the shores of Nigeria could be handy.

The event which featured policy recommendation session was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, representatives of the Governors of the region, members of Anambra State Executive Council, among others.

I tell you!

One reason why i miss Obiano is QUALITY!

Everything Obiano did was above the usual Anambra standard! He was the first Anambra Governor that I'm aware of that built a DUAL-Carriage way from start to finish! Every other Anambra Governor would have opted to do the usual single-lane tiny road to the airport, which will be hopefully dualized in the far future (If ever!)

God bless Soludo who has actually started working on many roads across the state! I just hope that Soludo would keep a keen eye on QUALITY in whatever he does. I am impressed with his efforts so far to address potholes and make Awka roads pleasurable to drive on. However, his road inspectors should ensure that the road level is ALWAYS above the gutter level. So that water can easily flow from the road surface into the gutters. Instead of some situations where the gutter is higher than the road surface, so even with gutters beside the roads, the roads are water-logged because the water on the road cannot flow into the gutter.

You said it all. Its good Soludo is intentional about transforming Awka. I believe a lot of things will change in the city when the new Govt house is completed. I hope Soludo builds it to the very best standard.

Anambra would have gone very far by now if not for the activities of these criminal elements known as IPOB that slowed down the pace.

God Bless Obiano. God bless Soludo and Anambra state.

IPOB haven’t been blamed on this thread in a while so i suppose you felt it needful to try and find a way to sneak in a ‘honourable mention’ even if there’s no nexus between IPOB and any insecurity/criminality in the state!

Mention how IPOB are ‘criminals’ and how they ‘prevented Anambra from going far’!? Just what are those indices/metrics that support your claim?

A lot of you are on here for the sole purpose of trying to ‘justify’ the terrorist tag the despot wickedly pinned on IPOB, and make it look like Ndigbo are joining bigots, hateful impostors and gullible Igbo to buy all the lies churned out against the organisation and Mazi Kanu by the hegemonic propaganda machinery! This is the same useless Buhari gov’t that, as we speak, are yet to designate Fulani herdsmen as terrorists even though they have been recognised as such internationally!

Buhari sits by and allows criminality to fester, not just in the south-east (that was adjudged the most peaceful region in the country before his arrival in 2015) but all over the entire country, and a large part of this criminality is caused and driven by his murderous kinsfolk masquerading as ‘security personnel’ and ‘herdsmen’! You never mention this existential threat we’re faced with courtesy of the sahelian invaders…all you’re interested in is trying to keep the IPOB blame flame alight! Upon all the SHIT going on in your country, all you can think of is how to blame IPOB….a organisation that would not be existing today had we all been in a fair, equitable and just country!

Still yet, you can’t excuse ipob activities in Anambra state and Igbo land in general

I once supported ipob but immediately mnk formed his militia wing(esn)I knew immediately that ipob will be a calamity to ndi Igbo

He couldn’t fund them, they immediately attacking police stations and start taking their guns, releasing hardened criminals from prison etc Mind you that most of this people aren’t Igbo, some are ijaws while some akwaibom/cross river, mnk wanted to Unite south east with south south so he choose to form his military wing with both zone, that’s the greatest undoing of him, so they don’t care if they burn down alaigbo because they ain’t from there. All the blames must go to mnk and his ipob, since Uche Mefor left the group, mnk strategy isn’t working again, he’s always doing to appear better than his second

Now, look at Simon ikpa and the other faction(dos) fighting for supremacy, killing each other and countering each other instruction/ directives, Simon ikpa have started what mnk was doing then, recruiting criminals and touts to carry out his directives.

All of them need to go back to the drawing board or less they will finally lost the support they are getting, although many of us have withdrawn our support, the way all this kidnapping and killings is going I bet you one day the people will rise against ipob, mark it somewhere especially this Simon ikpa directives on no election in Igbo land.

Thank you

I dont like wasting my time on this discussion but anyone that exempts IPOB from the criminalities going on in SE despite all the video evidence of their actions, arrests etc is either ignorant, WICKED or just deceiving himself.

Never have we experienced this type of criminality and wickedness in igboland. Yes IPOB started well but derailed along the line. They dont even have a leader so how do you exempt such an organization without a leader from whats going on. Please lets not go further on this matter.

Please if you guys wants to discuss IPOB- ESN terrorisms, go to the crime or terrorist section of Nairaland to discuss that. You don't discuss criminal activities on a thread meant for showcasing development.

IPOB is a criminal organization and everything about it starts and ends in criminality even her supporters are criminal minded. Such shouldn't be discussed here rather move to where evil activities are discussed in Nairaland and talk about them there.
