charlesemeka85: Football is speculative but essentially it's a HERE and NOW assesment until proven otherwise. I have watched Chuba Akpom for several years and l essentially have writing him off as a quality striker. But after years of dormancy some how he has woken up , can he be consistent with outstanding performances âť“I am restrained to say yes. But time will tell. He is top goal scorer in the Championship that's not an easy feat. Consider among the top 4 highest goal scorers in the Premier league are Mitrovic and Toney directly from the Championship as the top goal scorers. My comments were very to the point 5 years ago with V.O. And he has exceeded most expectations. His first season in Seria A was just about ok and the second above average. It's taken him his third season to get here ,top of the pile and numero one goal scorer in Seria A. It's always a gradual process but he is learning and improving and not remaining stagnant like many others. How far can he get only time will tell. On the other hand I've always know Ademola Lookman was exceptional winning MOTM as a teenager. But what's he is doing equates to running before learning to walk, totally unexpected. He is now competing with V.O. for top goal scorer in Seria A. That l never expected he had adapted and learned and is learning. 1 Like

komekn:What I mean is selfish to the degree where a player is so determined to be on the scoresheet and is therefore blind to see his teammates who are better positioned to score if he passes to them |

Mujtahida: Some players have an exceptional skill set and are able to do the extraordinary and will take shots others cannot take. The Ronaldo and Messi of football âš˝ have proven this. They are confident in doing the exceptional sometimes impossible, it's not selfish but Exceptional ability. |

charlesemeka85: Well what was Ronaldo coming from the left. Football is no longer a strict number 9 , Liverpool proved it with Salah and Mane. However, in recent times there seems to be resurgence of the traditional number 9 ,. Haaland is helping to change that even V.O. 2 Likes |

Sor is more of a striker! He attacks the goal post with menace! Speed and accuracy running through from the wing! Chukweze and Simon are those that make good passes and crosses in their clubs! Mujtahida: 2 Likes |

His name also popped up here when Vicmo retired and there were talks of who best will replace him. His downward career trajectory since he moved to Monaco is why many of us stopped mentioning him. 2 Likes |

mostob: When Guardiola plays two upfront, he likes to have a runner playing as full back. That was why he signed Mendy in the first place In the Arsenal game, he switched to a two with Haaland and Alvarez. That was why Walker came in. With respect to Zinchenko, he offered that deep lying play maker role but many times, caught out of position, which caused us pressure. They are all Wonderful players but, Rico Lewis leads in intelligent passing play and I think that is why Pep is feeling the guy. 1 Like |

Hardly a crosser. His crossing Stats doesn't even add up to show that as his strength. He is more of an inverted attacking winger/inside forward who loves to drive vertically, cutting on the inside of fullbacks and attack the final third half spaces either to set up shot creating chances for himself or occasionally lay on a pass if he sees a teammate running into a better scoring position. He is a very fast wing forward with the ability to beat his markers on the outside and the inside and operate on the shoulder of the last defender. He is an inside forward with high taste for goal. Plus he is a solid attacking outlet thanks to his ball carrying and on-the-ball speed. His ball striking via both feet is also to be reckoned with. ChrisKels: 1 Like 1 Share |

The "more passers than runners" approach from Pep here could explain why he now goes with his 8s playing a bit closer to Haaland, providing the creativity through the middle & from the flanks via crosses or combination plays and ofcos for a team sustaining attacking pressure that way, they have to possess a good "rest defence" structure in case of turnovers in possession. And here, I think Ake fits the bill as he's hardly caught out of his "zones" with respect to a possible turnover unlike Cancelo. But still shaa... City made up for this last season because one of their FBs (Cancelo) was part of their creative/attacking approach but this season, that has changed. The FBs are expected to be restricted in their offensive contributions and this doesn't suit Cancelo well. Rico and Ake excel here and channel their contributions to the 1st and 2nd phase of buildup plays. Time will tell if Pep goes forward with this revamped structure and if it pays off in the long run. Really interesting to observe especially with the continued rise of Young Rico. TheGoodJoe: 2 Likes 2 Shares |

At club level not National team! He plays on the right, you can't expect him to cross with right. He is simply playing to the coaches instructions. Salah, Mane, Vinicius, Rashford and Mahrez etc do not cross. They cut in or lay forward passes! Most left footers are unable to utilize their left unlike right footers who can use thier left.
