Seriously, fuel scarcity happens when the petrol subsidy cannot cover the losses sustained in selling fuel below its production cost, which is why we have been having it for decades (I can recall queues being present in 1990...self).

The problem is, you guys want to buy fuel at N65, without thinking about how much it costs to make fuel in the first place,or transport it.

Finally, in 2012, NOI told GEJ to remove fuel subsides...and GEJ faltered on that. In 2021, Zaynab told Bubu to remove fuel subsidy, and Bubu said that security report won't let him do it....

And the queues continue.

Petrol (PMS) sells for about N1500/litre in some developed countries now. But standard of living in a country must be put into consideration in fixing cost of fuel, otherwise, chaos sets in.

I'm going to take your last sentence, and see how it is used for other people selling stuff...

In other words, rice made in Nigeria should be sold at N1000 a 50kg bag, because our standard of living is poor. Without considering the work of the farmer, the amount she or he put into growing the rice, the workers he has to pay, his or her family, and so on and so forth. Or the people who transport the rice to the farm.

If we had had that attitude when Obasanjo (not a fan) was bringing in GSM, by now we would have still had to go to a cafe to browse...instead of being able to browse at home.

If we want working refineries, and petrol to be refined at home, and also to flow freely, subsidy has to go. It does not matter whether people are poor or rich, the people who bring petrol to you are Nigerians, and they deserve to be paid for their work. Same thing when Dangote comes on stream...most of the money earned is going into the pockets of people who work in the refinery, and worked on it, and will work on it.

And paying them less than the cost of making fuel...is a nice way of making the refinery crash. Dangote is not going to refine fuel above N400 and sell it below 200 naira. Where is he going to get profit to pay for repairs, improvements, and salary increases. Plus are you going to support government giving him money, lots of money, money that is taken from other's mouths...to pay for the losses he makes selling fuel at below N200...in the name of subsidy.

For 50 years, we have lived with the lie that fuel must be cheap because people are poor. Well, see what has happened. The sector is not making profit, so abuse and corruption results. Take away a man's ability to make a profit, and he will resort to evil to make his or her money.

If you won't work at half salary so that the poor cannot suffer.....then why should you expect the petrol induistry to do so?

Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Bola Tinubu, even minor presidential candidates like Kola Abiola all support subsidy removal intotal. Either they are being irrational...or they have seen something is wrong with doing the same thing for 50 years with no improvement.

You are among the ruling party... why complain? Wetin you want us the masses to do.
