If Sterling Bank distributes 1 million to each branch, they will only cover 258 branches.

I am quite sure they have more than that in the whole of Nigeria

CBN should just accept responsibility and stop throwing pebbles in the ocean, hoping for a hugh splash afterwards

Abi o

They know how much they used to send to those banks before now

If they are trying to stop the scarcity they will send the required amount not sending 1M and claiming one thing

1M inside ATM wont even last for 30mins

All the 36 states governors have unanimously agreed agreed that like every country, let the old notes and the new notes be used side by side to such a time when the old notes have been systematically drawn out of circulation.”

I saw one video yesterday that made me angry when female bank workers were climbing fence to escape from the mob. Imagine someones auntie, somesones mother, someones wife, someones sister climbing fence like they are criminals to escape for their lives just because they are going to work, they can break ankles or worse if the mob catches them

Like I said, let Emefiele distribute the money using his own channel and not point fingers at bankers. Imagine a Bank that normally gets 50M you give them 1m and you are going all over the news and social media to announce that banks are hoarding money. Why were they not hoarding the money 3months ago when they were getting regular amounts

No customer is bringing money(especially new notes) to the banks anymore, so its only what CBN provides that banks use for transactions

Is it until the mob start lynching innocent bankers before they do something

Let Emefiele Buhari and their family be hawking the notes they printed and the banks refused to distribute, In fact commercial banks need to close down for a week to let this chaos calm down

Zenith Bank refused to open most of their branches nationwide yesterday because of fear of chaos because coupled with the tension currently in the land, their network, bank app, ussd was not working.

Day before yesterday, there was fighting at Zenith Ikorodu, Zenith Ikosi Ketu, Zenith Ojodu Berger and Zenith Akute (These are the 4 places that I had people that gave me information). Mopol and Police were stationed at Zenith Ikorodu and Zenith Ojodu Berger even though they didnt open.

Let them continue to think they are doing someone and not see the anarchy that's loading.

The idea itself was good, it was the implementation that was horrible.

The way most of the bank network crumble during the past few weeks point to one thing that we dont even have the infrastructure in place to go full cashless.

Then coupled with how they are handling the cash issue. The ATM I used in Ikorodu here, I was on queue for hours only to get to my turn and I could only withdrew 1k naira maximum and you can do that just 3 times after that another person takes over. Just imagine the rubbish.

Why agree to an idea knowing fully well that you don't have the infrastructure to support it?
Normally (correct me if I am wrong) you would use both notes until the old one comes out of circulation, no?

Given the poor network in the hinterland which is most of the country, how did they even think this cashless policy will work?

It's like you hear a fancy word from your rich friends and you just get home and decide to implement without considering your own limitations

grin grin grin@ you second paragraph. Emifiele is a man that flatters to decieve . He has sweet mouth.

If you watch the video I posted. When he appeared before the committee. The chairman of the committee Ado Doguwa was already getting swayed by what Emifiele was saying not until other members in the committee started asking Emifiele questions which he Emifiele didn't answer and the Doguwa guy didn't even allow for more questioning.

Most Nigerians living in villages don't have bank account. Now, you tell an old woman doing her small business in the village to take her life savings to the bank.( Maybe the bank is even 40km away from her house). Let's say 100K. She will be forced to open an account to deposit the money and at the end of the day she will not be able to withdraw her money. Akwai matsala fa!

They should just allow the new and old to co exist for now to ease tension, suffering and all. This was not a well thought out plan.

Just yesterday, the guy in charge of Internal Security in Kaduna State, Samuel Aruwan issue a Press release telling people to be calm and not to take laws into their hands and to avoid any form of protest. I want other States Government to follow suit. We just have to try and avoid anarchy by all means. The state government have started meeting with traders, giving them hope and encouragement. grin as if na hope them go chop but is a step in the right direction.

I don't know but I am just sceptical about anything this Emifiele does. I don't trust him because I believe he is a very corrupt man.

You see this idea of him redesigning naira notes. To me he has ulterior motives behind it. I might be right and I might be wrong but people should not always trust this man.

I don't know whether Buhari is hiding something because I see no reason why he is yet to sack him.

Remember when he suspended AbokiFX. ? As if they are the ones controlling Parallel Market. Some of the things he does is laughable. This man is a very cunning man.

Dey wan update their man-made religion to stay relevant in modern times. People hate to hear the truth that all the beliefs, including their god, they hold so dearly were made by some powerful men such as the Church of England, Council of Nicea in the Roman Empire.

If you know human history well enough, you'd know each entity referred to as God today was once a human, hence their human-like traits in the Bible, Qur'an, and other religious texts.

Religion is nothing but a system that allows a human to control and enslave his fellow humans because he's smarter than they.

I think you misrepresented some notions. It is not their head office rather regional head office, each bank operating within region has a domiciled regional head office where the regions manage their affairs, that is reason you have regional heads and regions like SS, SE, NE etc in banking system operation. I guess this is their North central regional head office in Abuja and the money covers only the regional branches not like all the branches in Nigeria like you posited.

I agree it is a dumb policy, but it is left for Buhari to agree to assent what the governors "suggest", I read yesterday he aborted meetings with the Governors and chose to have inside meetings with Governors representatives, ICPC, military heads and CBN governor. Well, maybe till we heard the outcome and official statement from his media people we know he has agreed to concede to Governors demand.

I don't think u understand the post by ICPC. What I deduce from the ICPC's post on Facebook is the following :

1. Sterling bank got a certain amount of new notes from CBN for distribution to all their branches in their northern region from their regional head in the northern part of the country ( The amount of money received was not stated in the post)

2. Sterling bank sent 5 million each from the total sum they received to all their branches and had 258 million retained in their vault despite their branches still needing cash.

3. The reason Why Sterling bank held back 258 million in their regional office despite their branches in that region needing more than the 5 million they got is not known to anybody.

The ICPC's press release is somehow vague and the information provided in it not really enough to take a stand as to whether Sterling bank is trying to sabotage the naira redesign policy or whether CBN is just blackmail ing sterling bank.
