I agree with Rinu. Politicians are mopping up all available new notes to create an artificial scarcity. By election weekend, you'll see new notes flowing in abundance.

Next culprits are bankers. Either the ones mopping up the new notes for politicians or the ones saving it for themselves. They have personal allocations that they use to collect new notes and leave fewer for the general public.

Empty barrels make the most noise.

Why not just keep quiet till 25th.

That is when you will understand that your permutations make no sense.

Tinubu will not be able to get enough new notes to go round the entire country. Maybe he will get N1B or N50b.

But he can't get N200b

So let's see how he will steal the election

Hopium:
cheesy Jungle don dey mature small small.

When they were making noise about how Buhari is punishing Tinubu to stop him from buying vote, they didn't think in this direction. They were suffering the cash and fuel scarcity in real life, but will come online to rejoice because Tinubu is going to lose the election. That delusional satisfaction and pending reward far outweigh the suffering, depression, and hunger waving across the nation. In their small and feeble mind, the pain and anguish they themselves are experiencing (including their parents in the village, their neighbors, loved ones, friends, and colleagues) is worth it so far Obi is coasting to victory.

Jungle don dey mature.

Only a naïve and inexperience mind - that doesn't know how the real world works - would think a person like Asiwaju can't access the new notes for vote buying. When people say Obi followers are dense, they're right. Very right. The mystery is that majority of his fan base are schooled but seeing how they think would make you pity the hard earned money their parents wasted sending them to school.

To every dull obidient other there who still think the naira scarcity is working in the favour of their principal, get it into your skull that aside the relative ease politicians now have to buy votes on the 25th, the apex danger of all is the possibility of the election not holding and an interim government being installed. Asiwaju tried to redirect your minds towards the things that matter, but you called him all sort of names.

INEC is already complaining of cash scarcity. What happens if they can't get cash to mobilize their ad-staff? I've read some mumu takes today about how INEC doesn't need cash to carry out their responsibility. Many people need to get their brain checked. I fear for the future of this country. We have so many illiterates who only went to school but failed to be educated. Full adults in their 50s, 40s, 30s who doesn't how the world works; have no clue about the nation's electoral process; zero clue about national politics; people who have substituted social media raves with critical thinking. These are people who have passed on their genes or getting prepared to. cheesy

I'm not doomposting nor praying for this to happen: The supreme court judgement only put Nigerians into more confusion. The CBN has rendered old notes illegal, banks are rejecting it, filling stations are rejecting it, people have started to reject too. BUT there's no new cash in circulation. Nigerians are in a limbo with no where to face. The commander-in-chief is silent. CBN is not obeying court orders.

From now until election, we will see many protests and riots. I don't see how this election won't be postponed. I don't. And when this happen, print it in your brain that Jagaban is not your enemy. He voiced out, warned us of impending dangers, even gave the CBN solution.

Your enemy is Buhari and by some extension Emefiele (that one will end up in jail one way or the other).

The policy is being badly implemented. There is nothing wrong in redesigning currencies.

The infrastructure of our banks are poor for online banking; many failed online transfers.

Even a novice that didn't study economics should be reasonable enough to know that if you are mopping old notes, you should also make new notes that are equivalent to the quantity of old notes you are taking to avoid disrupting the system. When new notes are lesser in quantity, it is a recipe for disaster.

Why is it that what happened in 1984 is repeating itself in 2023? Buhari was president in 1984. No lessons learnt from the mistakes of 1984.

You can't help but wonder why not, I've been standing 1+ hours, no keke is accepting old note nor transfer. All these Hausa bikers don't even understand such language. Everything is at a pause and you expect people not to cry?

Old note is withdrawn from you, new notes are exempted from you. Bank apps and transfers activities are fluctuating. Tertiary hospital only collect cash and never transfers, so patients' chances of dying surge.

CBN says it's doing all these to prevent election manipulation, yet intentionally distressing the lives of the people you claim to want to protect. In fact, are all security entities responsible for the cause against election manipulation handicapped that it's now left for CBN, whose primary duty is to ensure guided pecuniary stability in the nation, to be the avant-garde?

Meanwhile, fuel is expensive and in dire scarcity. Yet, in all these, some lots, who are equally feeling the distress have a stance that there are no better measures, since they think it's going to favour their candidate that people are suffering, and such is a great case for the campaign. You can't help but imagine how dafter an enclosed lot can, like they are gunner for award of the most daft.

Such a hard time to be a Nigerian.

Anyway, shout out to every Nigerian out there, from the ones eking out a living to the ones who appears to be having it soft. We'll be fully fine someday.

To me contrary to the alleged plan of the government to halt the buying of votes, this could help them in buying votes from the poor Nigerians as the scarcity of money could make them even poorer to the extent that a little amount of #500, #1000 will be sighted as a big amount. This is just a ploy to use little amount to achieve aim.

Dont be silly..eastern region as you stupidly claimed isnt supporting what APC/buhari/emefiele is doing...what we are asking is why is BAT so bothered about suffering Nigerians suddenly. Why didn't he lend his voice all these while to suffering Nigerians. Why didn't he voice out when naira rate was falling in fx? Why didn't he voice out when fulani herdsmen and bandits were killing everywhere? Why didn't he voice out about police brutality? Why didn't talk when price of foods and fuel skyrocketed? Why is he suddenly concerned?? Idiots like you aren't bothered? We're you not suffering all these while? When the masses were all feeling the heat, Why didn't BAT plead to his APC party men??

I guess u don't know what a political party means

Let me help you, political party is a group of people with the same ideology looking for ways to capture political power

Now try and reason fine
Dumb ass retar@ded ipob monkey.
A political party is a group of people with similar visions and ideas nit necessarily the same exact ideas.
That does not mean that they will agree in every single policy or even in how best to archive their visions.
This is why even in the US democracy, in many instances not all parry members always vote for bills introduced and supported by their own party. In fact there have been instances where a the sitting president' s own parry will pass a legislation through congress but the president will veto it when it gets to his desk.
You need to go and educate yourself more on parry politics then come back. More so Nigerian is still in infant stage when it comes to political organizations. Our parties are not based on any serious specific agenda, they are more like personal based in stead of agenda and ideas.
The same Obi that ran to LP , was the same guy who refused to allow the same LP to use a public place for campaign while in office. What and what policies, ideology and school of thought does Obi have in common with LP? Zero.
He basically used his name to high jack the party. It's not based on any ideology.

Conspiracy theorists who asserts that there is a sinister agenda to this change of currency policy are not far from the truth.

This fuel scarcity and Naira scarcity are not coincidental. I opine that they are delibrate and artificially created crisis which multi dimensional aims are:
(a)arouse public disaffection and frustration
(b)instigate a nationwide crisis
(c)compromise the forth coming election

Those who concur with the CBN Governors argument that the reason for the currency change is to prevent vote buying, simply do not know how adept Nigerian politicians are at circumventing the system.

Is it someone like Tinubu and Atiku that will be queueing and struggling to withdraw cash at the ATM point?

The may not go to POS or ATM to withdraw cash.
If you know how politicians works with money, you will know that it takes over a month to withdraw 5 Billion Naira in cash.
They keep on withdrawing several months before the election.
So you think Tinubu can just work into a Bank and withdraw 20 billion naira even if he has 100 billion in the bank?

Yes, they can withdraw the new notes, but not in that amount they will use to buy votes nation wide.

It now appears that many people supporting the poor implementation of dis policy are either too wicked & selfish, or maybe they really don't understood d implications of what dis naira scarcity issue might cause at d long run.

The issue on ground now is beyond attaching it to favor a candidate or affect d other. People are really suffering & passing through a lot in regards to this scarcity. Only God knows what would happen in d coming days if d president don't step in to address d issue.
