10k may not be enough. it all depends on the family size. 10k for POF is not suitable for a family of 4 or 5, but I guess for a family of 2-3.

Jan 5th ,Hubby contacted the MP of his province and pleaded with her to intervene that we have waited for too long,she sympathised with us and promised to write IRCC,one week later she asked my hubby to send my UCI and that of my children, Jan 26th I got a medical request...
I don't know how it happened but I know God was with us all through, we didn't have car Documents or house documents to submit,we just submitted what we had believing God will see our heart and Grant our earnest desire to be together as a young marriage...I Pray as he has done for me,your PPR will locate you in Jesus name,Amen

How old is the child?

Children must be 6yrs and above before they are admissible in Canada. If the child is less than 6yrs, then you have to apply for Visit Visa. However, if more than 6yrs, then you have to use your school details for the child as well.

Are these people just waiting until they hear that one's marriage has finally broken down due to over a year of not seeing each other? Can't IRCC just try and understand what we are going through? Must they waste their time drinking coffee while pretending to be reviewing applications? I feel so overwhelmingly sad right now. The depression is crushing.

I may have not understood your last question. However, let me say it this way.

Since you are applying for SOWP for your spouse and your kids, kindly show POF that will cover 3 of them. The minimum of (4k +6k). Also, I will advise you to have money for miscellaneous - another 3-4k, and tickets to and fro for all the family members.

The said money above is different from yours. I do not know your status. if you have already travelled or planning to travel shortly.

1. If you have travelled, then it's a bit easier, because the $10k for your upkeep for a year may not be considered any longer. But I will advise you to show POF that is way above the minimum. Too much POF is also not bad.

2. If you haven't then, you have to make provisions for your upkeep, tuition and spouse, and kids.

In all, try to always meet the minimum req'ment and have a little surplus

Lastly, the above is my own analogy, the gurus in the house can help with more info if I missed any.

What I was trying to ask this.

Let's take an example of a family of dependents with a total proof of funds of say 20k.

While filling the IMM1294 form for minor's study permit, should I add a part of the 20k (like 3k) that will be sufficient for that particular dependent or put the whole 20k that has been budgeted for the whole family?

Yes, put 3k on that section of dependent and not the whole funds, but your POF should show all.
