BlueRayDick:

Recently i saw a video online and ur thoughts on Africans not following the ways of their colonial masters/ex-oppressors like lame duck crossed my mind.

In the video a teacher was seen using a very a whip on the students who laid on the floor waiting for it to get to there turn to receive serious lashing on the back and buttocks. (I don't know what exactly their offence was tho).

So we have a lot of our people in the comment section criticising the teacher for resorting to corporal punishment in this age and time. They claim in the modern world there's no place for whipping kids like that cos such things don't happen in the western world.

Now we also have people in the comment section who pointed it out that they got straight in their teenage years due to serious whipping from teachers, parents and guardians who saw to it that they didn't become truant/drop outs.

Now my question is this ; what do u think? Do u think the western wokeness of not whipping a child works for Africans? Should we align with these new woke culture or we should stick with our old ways of spare the Rod and spoil the child?
I also watched the video. I can't allow anyone to beat my child as I detest such kind of punishment and won't beat my child when they err.

It's criminal, and the teacher should be prosecuted in a sane country.

The older generations that believe in the "spare the rod and spoil the child" mantra are mostly responsible for the poor state of the country, with Nigeria ranked abysmally low on all aspects of the human development index (HDI), with Nigeria one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

UNICEF recommends how to discipline a child the smart and healthy way:
https://www.unicef.org/parenting/child-care/how-discipline-your-child-smart-and-healthy-way

That's the best way to discipline a child correcting them with love and care.

So i should copy how to discipline my child from Unicef? Hmmm Must we Copy the western Lifestyle? The older generations raised responsible children via " spare the rod and spoil the child" Some of us today are witnesses!!

You can expose your child to trauma and physical abuse all in the name of discipline. That's your choice.

As for me, I don't see how corporal punishment is better than what UNICEF recommends.

If corporal punishment is effective, Nigerians won't be so corrupt and lawless.

Anyway, Nigeria is a jungle sha. Recently, one kid lost his life in my neighborhood due to this barbaric form of punishment which has no place in society in modern times.

There are tons of such cases yearly where kids are traumatized and physically abused by their parents and teachers in the name of discipline.

Such a form of punishment is anti-human and does more harm than good to the innocent child.

It should be abolished.

Pemimode is Larride
Who be Odumah and Okafor?

But Disstroy, you for no drag Larride personal ordeal into this. He is not the reason Buhari failed. He only supported him, which everyone has a right to.

His travails should not be used to troll him

Lols, caning a child doesn't really make him/her useful in life. It only damages him/her mentally and physically.

It's child abuse.

The Akpan and Odumah were references to the WAPTV series comic characters, I never knew I will got someone triggered just to show that some of these guys are sissies who cant take what they dish out.

From the visible results, caning kids the Nigerian style only turns them to cane-resistant goats who only figure out better ways to do wrong without getting caught.

I’m only basing this on the evidence i see. Pikin wey go stubborn, go stubborn. If you like flog am till him die.

Nigerian parents need to understand how to discipline psychologically whether by positive or negative reinforcement instead of treating human beings like animals and then being surprised when they morph into such

Why then are corruption and lawlessness so rife in Africa? I should trust you because you're an expert in early childhood education?

Caning works, yet Africa is so corrupt and lawless, yet the education systems in most African countries are some of the worst in the world.

Can you tell me what metrics show caning is the most effective form of punishment for an African child? Because your Bible says so?

The casual cruelty of Nigerians may have links to childhood beatings

When I see pictures of some rescued children who were severely brutalised by their parents, I ask myself what would have happened if there was no intervention and they grew up like this?

Your hero Peter obi became a billionaire as a trader

Pure import export

Innoson, zinox, coscharis are all hybrid importers with a local industrial footprint and even so, at different times they have been implicated in customs scams

You cannot be a successful importer in Nigeria without patronage and corrupt customs officers

So you can stick all your empty bs about Saint obi where the sun doesn't shine, hypocrite!

Pathetic self-servicer who wished obi dead for incompetence now swallowing his vomit t faster than the cum of blended junior students.

One thing I've noticed as a parent is that taking something a child cherishes away from him pains him and makes him behave better than beating him.

I get better results withdrawing cartoon from my son than I get when I beat him. That's my personal experience.

And it demonstrates that there are long term consequences. A beating Las Las is five minutes. A withdrawn privilege can be days or weeks or months

Yesterday, i went on an official appointment in the quaint city of Potsdam. I had difficulty locating the right office (everything is in German man) and i met a kindly Sicherheit (Security Officer) who showed me the correct office and asked if i was a Nigerian. I replied, “yes” and we got to chatting.

He asked me “Why is Germany having a sudden influx of Nigerians?”. Usually he mostly sees Eritreans, Ethiopians and Ghanaians. I replied something something economic opportunities but the real answer in my mind is, “Baba, Buhari has fcked the country up and we’re now moving like refugees”. He never know wetin dey sup grin

Nice one. You for drop pictures for us. I hear that it is a very beautiful city littered with beautiful palaces and cultural heritage sites as the core base of the Hohenzollern rulers of Prussia and Germany.
