In a Presidential system of government, the executive arm of govt. Is the most powerful even when others exist to act as checks and balances.

Are you aware that the President have the powers to suspend the constitution when the country is under siege just to protect the sovereignty of the nation?

In the world's largest democracy we copied from, the US President who is seen as the face of world democracy Abraham Lincoln himself ignored a Supreme court ruling to save the country.
Same applies to President Andrew Jackson and most recently President Donald Trump

Here's an excerpt :
” In other words, that in cases where the president and the courts interpret the Constitution differently, the president can basically tell the courts to get lost.

“The power of constitutional interpretation is a divided, shared power,” Paulsen argued, “incident to the functions of each of the branches of the national government — and to instruments of state governments, and of juries, as well — with none of these actors literally bound by the views of any of the others.”

All those saying SC this and SC that are doing so because they have vested interest in the case and are mostly APC. The only organ of government that has power to execute the judgement is the executive so those saying otherwise probably know what we don't know like the one over there is not Buhari.

I assumed nothing. I asked a question and I was given an answer. The guy even acknowledged my response but you busybody had to 'chook' mouth. Go and play tribal politics with someone else.

It borders on morality and personal judgement of the President.
He can decide to release him just for the sake of peace and reconciliation but if he decides not to on grounds of national security, there's nothing you can do about it

Trump never disobeyed SC ruling! It was a federal court and a few days after he gave in. And for Lincoln, it was obviously because it was during war time.

The funny thing is that Nigerians don't seem to understand the enormous powers conferred on the President.
That's why some people are campaigning for a man we know cannot take personal decisions to be President today.
Nigerians let's end this cabal style of Presidency where people we don't know will be dictating the decisions of the President.
It's not all about tribe, it's about our future here

I guess you did not hear when PMB said the naira redesign is for reasons of national security and curbing corruption?
The moment national security is involved, everyother thing is set aside and yes, Trump disobeyed supreme court ruling
