Expunged ke? What was the rationale behind that? I mean what was the official explanation.

I think the excuse they gave then was that students were not offering the subject(It was optional) and that there were few jobs for history graduates. grin

Many Science students didnt take history

The options I think were History/Government/Geography

With 9 Subjects for WAEC a typical Science student will take Maths, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agric, Geography, Economics and a Native language

Your MD don dey twist history for head. grin

Akintola and Awolowo beef is all about control of the Western Region.

Awolowo left his post as Premier of the western region to contest for Prime Minister, he lost while Akintola became premier of the western region. Awolowo became leader of the opposition in the parliament while also remaining the leader of the Action Group and Akintola the deputy. This is where the problem started from.

Akintola as Premier wanted AG to join the coalition government as he believe the Yorubas are losing the influence because of the refusal to join the coalition govt even after NCNC (Igbo dominated) joined.

Akintola wanted an alliance with the Northerners while Awolowo doesn't. Akintola was also against the democratic socialism that Awolowo is known for preferring the conservative approach.

Akintola sha started removing all Awolowo loyalist from govt and replacing them with his own loyalist and that's what led to operation wettie.

Now, imagine how many people that him MD don zobo with that story and how his story may have affected the listeners perception of other tribes?

That was my exact combo. Many Arts students took Geography and History though, especially those planning to study Law.

I actually think that in this social media era studying History is even more important. One unemployed youth can sit down in his face-me-i-face-you and mislead thousands of ignorant people through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram etc.

I think Literature was also an option then but was mainly for Arts student since those who wanted to study law must have Literature

For a Science student beside the English Maths Physics Chemistry Biology that were mandatory Geography, Economics, Agric were adopted by those who wants to study courses in Faculty of Agric, Economics and Geography for those who wanted to do Social Sciences

There are 2 ways of looking at this. The internet has ensured that one can see all sides of a story IF the person looks for it but there is also the risk of algorithms putting people deep into rabbit holes and ensures confirmation biases thus falling prey to targeted propaganda.

But I believe that it is much easier to spot and break free from propaganda today than it was many years ago when we depended on traditional media houses.

History was mostly self study and interest. I have sat in a classroom where Govt and History were taught and I could flow with 50% of what they were teaching them because it was interesting like reading a novel vs abstract things Science students needed to study like atomic mass of Helium that you have to imagine in your head.

My friends who were science students knew more about History than the Arts students that took it as a subject in WAEC because in my time Its mainly the smart kids that go to science class and the not so smart to Arts

In our time if you don't know stuffs you keep quiet and listen when those knowledgeable are discussing it. They will already be in JET, Debates, Quiz team etc. But now with Social media anyone can open account and just type anything or make a video without facts to back it up

Is that the meaning of accommodating?

If I’ve lived in Kaduna for years and decide to contest even though I won’t win… is that accommodating?

One man or woman’s bold decision to contest na his concern…. The koko is to see what the constituents think about it….

I had finished their syllabus probably in primary school. In my opinion the history they taught even back then was watered down but i guess it is better than nothing.

Na so the thing dey go and sometimes it becomes an opinion thing. e.g Bros Ta lo da ju ninu Henry ati Nistelrooy (Bros who is better Henry or Nistelrooy)

You know those in Arts class were mostly those that they are just pushing from class to class, Some cannot even speak good English sef and a few of them were those scared of calculations (Mostly fine girls) who wanted to go for Law

It seems UBA and access bank mobile apps have been overwhelmed. These two useless banks almost embarrassed me this afternoon. Is this how we are going to practice practice cashless policy? Nigeria ain't ripe for this shit...

My customers have been allowing me to take whatever I want from them and give them cash whenever I have or transfer whenever network is good... If not for my good rep, that is how Emefiele would've used hunger to kill me for nothing.

I will never forget one bad boy in my school that was about 2 or 3 years my junior. His grandfather was one of the senior imams in Ibadan and the guy used to come first in IRK every term scoring 90-95%.

Then one term some Christian seniors in his hostel preached to him and he became born again. He switched to CRK and scored like 85% and was the first in the whole class.

He went home and his grandfather beat shege into his life. He turned Muslim again came back and scored about 90% in IRK and was first again.

All the Christian boys in his class were punished for disgracing themselves. grin
