To the people saying Seyi should take it to court I’ll tell you there’s more to it Man’s a great lover of peace, doing that will cause a whole lot of unrest in Oyo state
Governor Seyi Makinde brought a new dimension to the relationship between politics and the transport unions. He banned the NURTW and created the Oyo State Parks Management System (PMS).
The chairman of the Oyo State Parks Management System is Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila (aka Auxiliary). Auxiliary was a chieftain of the NURTW, but he fell out with others in the union and then Governor Makinde banned the union and made him the chairman of the Parks Management System. Auxiliary is also believed to be a political thug and an enforcer for the Oyo State Government.
Senator Teslim Folarin was a member of the PDP during the battle between Tokyo and Eleweomo, but he is now the APC candidate in the 2023 Oyo State governorship election.
At the Oyo State governorship debate, Teslim Folarin said that the creation of the Parks Management System was political and "even if you want to create such a committee, the person that they appointed as chairman is an ex-convict. What kind of message is the government trying to send by making an ex-convict the leader" ?
Governor Makinde responded to that allegation by saying, "The person that is calling someone an ex-convict, who killed Eleweomo and where's the file? It is still with me as governor of Oyo State. It is a criminal case, but I don't want to go into that now".
Teslim Folarin responded by saying, "Just because you are a governor does not give you the right to make irresponsible allegations.
If you are the governor of a state and you know who killed Eleweomo, then charge him to court. I don't think a governor should get involved in beer parlour politics".
Makinde interrupted him and said, "The file is with me".
Folarin replied, "Oya take it. Take it to court. Why haven't you taken it? I challenge you".
Oga gvnor simply take the file to court and stop beating around the grass
Alhaji Lamidi Adedibu was the godfather of Oyo politics. He passed away in 2008 and this exacerbated a crisis that he had started.
Rasheed Ladoja was "elected" governor of Oyo State through the help of Alhaji Adedibu. However, Adedibu wanted to determine who was appointed into government positions in Oyo State and this led to a dispute between him and his godson. Governor Ladoja appealed to President Obasanjo and PDP Chairman Ahmadu Ali, but they both told him to do whatever Adedibu said. Ladoja refused and this led to a very serious crisis and violence in Oyo State.
In 2006, the Oyo State House of Assembly, acting on the orders of Adedibu and Obasanjo, "impeached" Governor Ladoja and his deputy, Christopher Alao Akala became governor. Akala was loyal to Adedibu and he had become antagonistic to Governor Ladoja before his impeachment. Ladoja went to court to challenge his impeachment.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Adedibu died in 2008.
Alhaji Lateef Akinsola (a.k.a Tokyo) was the chairman of the NURTW in Oyo State and Alhaji Lateef Salako (a.k.a. Eleweomo) was his deputy. However, there had been friction between the two since 1999. Tokyo believed that Eleweomo wanted to stage a coup and take over the chairmanship from him.
The friction between Tokyo and Eleweomo led to violence on the streets of Ibadan, but this violence was kept in check by Adedibu. However, with Adedibu's death and the war between Ladoja and Akala, the violence spiralled out of control.
The Senate majority leader, Senator Teslim Folarin and former Governor Ladoja and Tokyo were grouped on one side, while Governor Alao Akala and Eleweomo were grouped on the other side.
Things came to a head at the Oyo State PDP Congress in 2010 when Eleweomo was killed in broad daylight. There were allegations that Tokyo and Senator Folarin were responsible for the murder and indeed both men were arrested by the Oyo State Police Command. They had been arraigned at a Magistrate Court in Ibadan and were being tried at the High Court, but something happened.
President Goodluck Jonathan wanted to contest the 2011 presidential election on the platform of the PDP, but former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also wanted to be the PDP presidential candidate. President Jonathan needed all the help that he could get in order to win the primary election.
Senator Teslim Folarin was qualified to be a delegate at the PDP National Convention/Presidential Primary and he would certainly vote for President Jonathan, but he was in jail in Ibadan.
Suddenly (a day before the PDP Presidential Primaries) and without the knowledge of the Oyo State Government, the police withdrew the charges against Senator Folarin. The Presidency had arranged for a private jet to wait at the Ibadan Airport and it flew Senator Teslim Folarin to Abuja so that he could vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the primaries.
This is a very accurate and well informed piece of news. It summarizes the toxic violent days of Oyo State politics.
Teslim Folarin is one of biggest players during that era with uncountable numbers of thugs with sophisticated weapons to fight the political war then ...
Teslim Folarin wouldn't want that case to be reopened.... I'm sure he'll go behind everybody to go and beg Seyi for mercy.... If not.... Yawah go dey for him.

I read the story and I couldn't breathe well, I fear Ibadan politics
That is the legacy of ThiefNuibu in Yoruba land, as the leader of our political realm since 1999/2007. Did he not de-emphasise free education for all in favour of breeding thugs, agberos and area boys like the northern almajiri?
What a shame.
Wow. So, Tinubu controlled Adedibu and Alao Arisekola in Ibadan when he was governor?
My vote is for makinde. 1) Payment of workers and Pensioner on 25th of every month is what l admired. My pensioner parent did not disturb for money for the past 4 years.
2) Construction and commissioning of Akobo bridge.
I remembered some years back, Teslim folarin donated a transformer to an area and when he lost election, he went there to remove it
BAZ001: Is this a debate or beer Parlour arguments in public
Touts seems to be more important during election than police and inec officials. See the way they are talking about touts
Nice one Naptu2 for this background/exposition.
The background/exposition is filled with half-truths and outright lies without any modicum of decency. He doesn't have the facts in most of the claims he made. He's just writing from the angle of a political hack
Governor Seyi makinde should have just given him his match and shut him up permanently. " Just because you're the governor doesn't make you ...." Eeeh he will smell pepper before, during and after the election. And he should stop sharing stage with desperadoes.
If by mistake this Teslim of a guy becomes governor, Oyo state will go back a thousand years.
This OP win my heart in bringing out the genesis of the intriguing Ibadan Politics into limelight! God bless you OP and some will just opened their teeth to type all manners of nonsense!

azikiweironsi: Where is Adedibu today ? Where is Eleweomo ? Where is even Tokyo today ? (Although he is alive but no longer physically active and sick) Where is Otunba Alao Akala today ? These people mentioned are movers and shakers of Ibadan politics then. Makinde has no doubt changed the political space today and he's very celebral and intelligent and a smooth operator. No doubt Ibadan is well calmed and he is in full control with great achievements to show in the last four years. He is definitely going to be re-elected and beat his opponents silly. (Sorry Penkelemesi. I like you and your solid team) in Accord Party but Makinde is much stronger perhaps next election sir.
Makinde is singlehandedly responsible for the reemergence of thugs in Ibadan politics Ajimobi already killed those thugs before he resurrected them on assuming office
