Masses just as wicked as the politicians
I was at a shop last week and the woman operates POS as well. A guy came to withdraw 10k and the shop owner charged him 1k. All of a sudden her friend entered and was speaking the local language telling her the 1k is too cheap that nobody has cash in town. She didn't know the guy understands the language....We were very angry, me and the guy change am for the woman. She regretted coming to that shop that day. Most Nigerians are just too wicked, we punish ourselves in this country but always blame the government.

Assuming na she get the shop I wonder the kinda wickedness wey she for dey do.

It's worrisome. I saw a house to rent and the fees and charges were more than half of the rent. Rent 800k + Fees and charges like 600k for 1bedroom. Lagos landlords and agents are something else.

Room and Parlor 350k I would love we talk on WhatsApp I need a place oo
You can ask your friends or close ones to look out for a place for you.
But if you want to find it sharply, maybe you're in hurry then you can use agent (you have to add up to the initial amount due to agent fee).
I don't like using agents, they're thieves.

Lol.. this is very stupid. Blame the inflation and not yahoo boys. Na yahoo boys make building materials or land cost? Very soon people will begin to blame yahoo boys for not having cash in hand anymore...Maybe Na yahoo boys still cause the fuel scarcity we have been suffering for months now. Nigerians hate the truth

This is a myth, until you eliminate the housing agent value chain which now leaves the tenant, the landlord, the lawyer as the government local or state the price of housing would then be moderatly priced. And don't also forget, there is a large rural to urban migration everybody body just want to live in Lagos whilst a lot of us in Lagos just want to escape to somewhere peaceful and quiet.

Ewet Housing is the elite residential area in Akwa Ibom. Why did you rent an apartment there if you don't have enough resources to pay? Less than 50% increase and you departed. What happened to Oron Road axis? Ikot Akpanabia? Even Osongoma would have been cheaper. I think you went above your budget.

No be say Uyo experience go-slow.

I only pack out because the apartment is not worth it no pop and the walls alway soaking making your clothes to smell . I still live in ewet housing FYI.
No house in Osongama the only one I saw my 6 by 6 bed frame will not enter the room too small. Even in shelters no house unless the extension which I don’t like.

Wow! Seems the demand for good housing in Uyo has soared. shocked

I'm genuinely curious, how much are you paying for the new apartment and how many rooms does it have?

Yahoo boys abi yahoo+ boys?

Before I found this my present place, the house I wanted to move into, the owner told me 700k for 2 rooms and pallor(second year 650k). I was like ah ose e cost o, and he said you no know say the house get pop. I told him point blank " na pop I wn chop"
I saw many boys there (both the ones were get gle and glc full there).
Omo I have to look for another place, many reasons made me move
1-if I gv that man 700k for first year, how certain am I that I can cuff out that huge amount the second year
2- the boys there are too raggedy and lousy

The place am staying now is 350k, room and palor
spacious but no pop. I love it, cool area, light is okay, clean compound and cool neighbors (tho I hardly associate with them).

Let me be blunt and tell u why

Most Nigerians are greedy opportunists. An average Nigerian is looking for an opportunity to rip you

I'm no longer surprised why our politicians are corrupt. They are just members of the society like you and I given a bigger platform

Look at this issue of new note. A POS agent charged me 1,500 for 5,000 just because he knew I had no option. Later they will say our leaders are corrupt

Fact spot on

Corruption is a general thing now, even though most Nigerians would always play the saint.
They ain't no "saviour" coming for Nigerians and even if one eventually does we will still find ourselves back in same frustration.
The way out is that Nigerians needs a reorientation program/movement; a mental exodus from our current socio-economical and socio-political culture
Each and everyone of us have to make a strong resolve to start being good citizens.
Now to the golden cause,
We as a people have lost our way and departed from God,
We have excluded God(godliness) from our day to day activities thinking we are doing businesses, having professions, making contracts, building companies , having political careers, having establishments etc

We have to align whatever we do with the tenants of the most high.
Till then, our children would still come here on NL to complain.

Even the woman complaining might be guilty of such ungodly increment in her own sector of the economy

Don't blame yahoo boys, most Nigerians are naturally wicked. They just pretend to be nice when they haven't got opportunity to show you their true colours.

Nobody would beat you as a landlord if you make your rent affordable.
Nobody is wicked. Demand pass supply but we were sleeping during that economics class. Most think LA cram LA pour. Those laws cannot be ignored.

Exactly,.I don't know if it's movie thing but I see houses placed for rent routed through regulatory agencies then advertised on bulletins after due inspection by the said agency.

Government talk about low cost housing reguled by them but how many comon people actually get it...

The amenities government should target and regulate to build a livable City is transportation, housing and security...

If not for brt people would be spending arm and leg..yet it's still bad... nothing on housing... people are even renting and paying estate and Street security and we still wonder why alot of people dream of running away.

Go to some east and southern African countries anytime they visit Europe is for holiday or school and run back but it's escape route for us because everyone is being pressed by the system and the gvt is just looking
hmmm, well said bro may God come to our aid.

This is lazy journalism. In this same Nigeria, food prices, fuel prices even POS charges has skyrocketed in the past few months. Yet, this article will rather divert the blame to a frivolous reason than admit that rent will also increase when every other price increases.

It's articles like this that make people think Nigeria is a fraud hub. Places with the actual fraud boys are not blaming so called "G boys" for rent increase.
Give me a good justify reasons why a landlord who built his house 20 years ago should increase his rent to same amount to that of house built last year.

you’re making sound as if 700k is bad but 350k is not bad. For your information 350k is very big money to some people, they can never use such amount to pay for rent.
