GRV didn't choose to be born of an Igbo mother and there are lot of kids that grow up having as their first name, a name from their mother's side...I think that was most likely the case with GRV and his in initial naiviety thought it shouldn't matter. Later realizing it in fact does matter made a switch to Gbabadeo.

There's nothing that GRV has said or done that Tinubu or other ethnic nationalists have not said similar in the past, and if it was a Yoruba man with both parents from the South West, nobody would bat an eyelid, as was the case with BAT. There are so many foremost Yoruba politicians married to Igbo's and women from other ethnic groups and nobody makes an issue of it.

Ultimately, this whole thing comes down to certain persons wanting to use the fact that his mum is Igbo to potray a particular image of him.

I myself is just trying to picture a gubernatorial candidate of Anambra being found out that he's married to a Fulani man and might have made soo many pro-fulani posts. I personally have no problem with it and soo wish we live in a Nigeria where this is not a problem, where identity is not a problem but I know that would be a relations catastrophe.

Many conservative yorubas in Lagos habor unfounded deep seethed fears that "igbos are colonizing Lagos". Having a half-igbo governor with visibly pro-igbo sentiments especially right now when they are dealing with the gigantic shock of an igbo man defeating their number one politician there will invariably spur catastrophe.

Again I truly wish this was not a factor and you make good points for him but there is no rationalization here for him winning at this moment. There will untold proportions of violence and blood shed in Lagos. This could actually spark another national war.
