That was really selfish of Joel, if it were left to Ellie, she would have gladly gone with the whole procedure, as long as it would birth a cure.

When she eventually learns the truth in subsequent seasons she'd hate Joel for his decision.

I love the juxtaposition between Thorfinn/ Einar and King Canute

While Thorfinn and Einar are celebrating their freedom from slavery that is to come and are looking at the light at the end of the tunnel...Canute is going down a darker and darker path

King Canute's ambition mehn...
Killing is own brother who has helped and cared for him since childhood

I remember his father's words in Season 1 when he stated that the crown has a mind of its own...
Canute dismissed it saying that the crown does not lead men to war or kill people etc

Canute has no friends or loved ones anymore...since everyone is an obstacle to his ambition of Ruling the Northern Sea

Even if it happens that her mutation doesn't birth a cure eventually, it was still her choice and sacrifice to make and Joel should have respected her well enough to make her choice and worse, he had to lie to her about what transpired.

Better Call Saul....season 1....10/10


This show is so well written...characters are all incredible. And it's so entertaining to watch.

The plot twist/ betrayal reveal towards the end of S1 is crazy...while I suspected his brother very early on...I quickly moved on and I never saw that reveal coming...

Last night and even this morning, I was thinking about it so much...the betrayal really hurt me so much with everything Jimmy/Saul had done for his brother

The show shows how much Jimmy struggles to remain in the good side of the law...but he is constantly tempted and driven over the edge on different occasions and he even succumbs to it.

Another aspect I loved was the focus on Mike. I always wanted more exploration on Mike in Breaking Bad but never got this. I'm glad Better Call Saul did the right thing by giving Mike more character moments and screentime

So far I can say confidently:
Better Call Saul Season 1 >>>>>>> Breaking Bad S1
And it's by far...not even a contest
