Your argument with prosper was that many people don't pay tax.

And i am showing you that the problem, in my opinion is that a lot of taxes are unaccounted for.

4000 daily as tax means the person is earning 40,000 a day. How many Nigerians earn that daily?

Our politicians will always post data as proof that few people pay tax, but then, there is a lot more of unaccounted tax going through the back door
Let’s say we both agree most of the money collected by local government guys don’t go to the proper authority…. I believe that 4000 is not even the full picture and just the night cost of doing business in Nigeria… Eradicate those nonsense and create a proper way to tax those guys.

40,000 per day in 20 days a month gives you about 800,000…. Now the driver is paying PIT of just 80k per month when total tax paid should be nearing 259k for that amount.

You have joined the group of people who were radically pessimistic. This is unconventional of any Obi voter or supporter.

Throughout the electoral campaign, it was drummed into your ears numerously that this movement was just "noise", a "phase" in Dino's words, "youthful exuberance that will simply fade". But you strode firm, you believed that it was not a phase. You were resilient in that belief that you will part of those who will make a positive change in this country and what happened? Thousands of people like you marched to the polls and today, against all odds, obi has won your very own state, the home of the cronyistic godfatherism. The very seat of his corrupt power was taken away from him and you are most likely represented by an LP representative. Represented by a son of nobody who owed no allegiance to any godfather, who has no debt to be settled behind the scenes.

Your district has been freed from the shackles of establishment corruption and godfather cronyism.
12 other states have also been freed from the corrupt establishment. So why the doubt still??

Why would you decide at this point to give into the cynical pessimism? Your vote has already been powerful and has shaken the system to it's core, why do you think it won't be seen through?

Obidients have already broken all norms in politics, we are about the break the systemic judicial streak of injustice. Keep the faith my dear respected elder brother. Our principal will win!
To state the fact here, i am more expose, more knowledgeable and experienced than you politically. I don't doubt Peter Obi's victory one bit, i doubt the corrupt judicial system we operate in Nigeria. INEC rigs that Election even before the election was conducted, because it is a corrupt institution bought over by power hungry corrupt politician. The same justices that declared Ahmed Lawan APC candidate (cos he obviously bribed them to get that judgement), are the same justices that would most likely decide Obi's case. It would be a miracle for us to get victory at the SC, but i am hopeful his good Grace see him through this like in the past.

Politicians cannot steal outside the country's Government budget.

If a country's budget is 20 billion dollars, there are some obligatory spending like loan servicing, recurrent expenditures, subvention payment etc which cannot be avoided that will take about 80% of the 20 billion. The remaining 2 billion is what the Governor can then allocate for anything. So, basically there is a 2 billion cap to the amount he can steal.

Lmaoooooooooooooooooo🤣🤣🤣

Nigeria will never be better because some people have made themselves available to always explain away some politicians’ crazy/unexplainable acts .

No matter how despicable politicians act may appear to neutral minds; some intelligent people will make themselves available to make sense out of the utter nonsense and then we all move on and think ; “Well, he’s making some sense with this line of thought o”

Nigerians explained away Yahaya Bello Excavating the road leading to an arch rival’s constituency on the eve to an election . We ended up learning excavating roads is now a counter terrorism measure .

Now we are excusing a government spending lavishly on a luxury item in the midst of poor and vulnerable people on the alter that the money won’t do much for the general populace even if it wasn’t used for the luxury item purchase by the governor .

At this point ; e be like say I don see everything under the sun. Nothing for surprise me again laidis!

Fools dont know that video will definitely have a counter effect, it will only rile up people to vote against him but they would also prepare people for him.

But I don't blame Apc Lagos, this is nothing new this is their strategy only thing is it won't work this time out.

I thought they said he is the best performing governor in Nigeria, alas they are not even confident that the best can win in a free and fair election.

Just so it is straightened out: The people who pleaded on Gbola's behalf to get a reprieve did no wrong per se. Interceding to get a soft landing when no serious crime was committed has always been the norm world over.

And they owe me no allegiance to ask that I be unbanned, even though I was at the periphery of what occurred that day.

I'm more concerned about how a moderator can activate a deactivated account. That's a serious security breach because it proves they can get intrusive account access of Nairaland users.

Still, it's the place of the moderator to undo the ban altogether. But I suppose she was waiting for me to come cap-in-hand to plead my case like the others did. Fûck no! I'd rather fancy my chances against a hungry bear. Drugged. And caged.
Thanks to those who called her out for days here. Many of you did.

But there's no way on this green Earth I was going to pander to a power-drunk heifer; worse even, a random one on the internet who's never been in my interactive space in this corner of the cyberspace.

So I served out my ban like a man. And if it was longer, I'd have switched cloaks. After all, we make the monikers but the monikers don't make us, right? Right.

Na person wey dey take thier takes serious get that wahala. Nigeria is not broke, our Polithiefcians are just wicked, heartless thieves. Had the Govt of Dubai used the money meant for its development to buy luxury cars and houses in Europe and America, Dubai won't be what it is today. Nigeria is poor yet Tinubu collected bogus pension for 15years as a former Governor of Lagos, while Civil Servant who served the State for 35years will have to wait for 2years (mainstream) or 3years (primary school teachers) to get their pension and gratuity. Nigeria is broke, yet every Governor today flies Private Jets instead of Commercial Airline. Nigeria is broke, yet State Governors takes at least ₦1bn monthly as security votes that is not even accounted for. Nigeria was also poor during the time of Awolowo, Jakande and co, yet they where able to build infrastructures that are still very relevant today. Make them dey confuse or deceive those who want to be confused or deceived...

I don't think this will affect the election na. Election starts by 8.am and the Oro rites is usually between midnight and 5.30am daily. I think the news is just sensationalism. I sabi people from that side who are sons of the soil and I was told the Oro is done yearly, this is not the first time; It just coincided with the election this time.
There are exceptions.
In the 2000's , there was a sudden Oro rite in Ado-Odo/Otta in the afternoon. Unannounced even. It was in the Lafenwa - Oju-Ore axis.

The whole town/LGA went crazy. Those of us day students who had to return to Lagos daily and would usually take the Lafenwa shortcut to Tollgate and into Lagos had to braze the Oju-Ore traffic then to Joju and on to the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway back to Lagos.

School buses and the likes.

I don't think anybody was brought to justice. And there were rumours of missing school-aged kids after that day.

Like I said it here, I already know the possible monikers here that pleaded on gbolas behalf. But thats not the problem. The problem is how intoxicated that lady is with power ..and also openly bias with it.

Banning people on Nairaland now looks like denying them means of livelihood to her.

Me and u are not saying the same thing. This particular oro rite is an annual event that spans 3 days ( Wednesday to Friday ) . According to those who live in the community and have experienced it in past few years , the oro rites will end 5.30am on Saturday morning .

Nothing suggests they will hold another one during the day on Saturday . I still maintain the news is just being sensationalized especially considering how the Oba conducted himself at the presidential election when he was mouthing gibberish on camera

Oddly, no hard feelings on my end. Until you folks mentioned it, I didn't even know what gender the moderator was.

The last time I made any inquiry about being banned from any moderator was to Ishîlove in 2015 or so. And that was me still figuring out Nairaland.
And if they come for my alternates like this one did, that's on them. But Disstróy would never give anyone the satisfaction of knowing my online activities can be curtailed.

Nigeria is broke, not poor as some people believe. The country is broke due to the massive acts of corruption perpetrated by the ruling class over the years and currently as well.

These politicians steal humongous amounts of money now and then. That Nigeria is poor is a myth.

But it's broke, and no country on earth can survive the monumental looting actions by Nigeria politicians without going broke.
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A001: 2:54am On Mar 17, 2023
About reactivating a deactivated Nairaland account, mods do that sometimes. Jarus has had his account reactivated in the past after deactivating it.

He has deactivated it again, and I won't be surprised if it's reactivated in the near future as usual.

With the right connection and financial clout, virtually anything is possible in Nigeria, whether in embodied spaces offline or in disembodied spaces online.

Seun should toe the same path as Facebook and allow users to deactivate their account temporarily and reactivate it any time they want.

Nairaland only has the permanent account deactivation feature, and some members even enjoy the privilege of having their account reactivated, perhaps for a fee.

Those Africans still under Arab slavery will be celebrating and worshipping their masters in mosques today and getting ready to fast in the month of Ramadan.

Ibn Khaldun, one of the greatest Arab social scientists of the Middle Ages, captured the state of mind of the typical African slave that worships the Arab god succinctly:

"Therefore, the Negro nation are, as a rule, submissive to slavery, because [Negroes] have little [that is essentially] human and have attributes that are quite similar to those of dumb animals, as we have stated."

"Beyond [known peoples of black West Africa] to the south there is no civilization in the proper sense. There are only humans who are closer to dumb animals than to rational beings. They live in thickets and caves, and eat herbs and unprepared grain. They frequently eat each other. They cannot be considered human beings."

Though he made those quotes hundreds of years ago, sadly, that's how the typical Arab sees the average African today.

As Ibn Khaldun said, "Islam is under obligation to gain power over all nations."

This is an arabcentric view shared by virtually all Arab Muslims.

However, when some Africans espouse afrocentric views, it's their fellow Africans (the Muslims and the Christians) who condemn them.

The Arabs see the world in an arabcentric way: When anything happens, they're concerned about how it can benefit or affect them and the Arab people before anyone else.

The Europeans too feel the same way with their eurocentric views.

However, a typical African Muslim or Christian sees the world in an eurocentric or arabcentric manner rather than in an afrocentric way.

How can such a people that are not rational develop?

It's sad that the majority of the black race will remain enslaved to the Europeans and Arabs for many years to come.

Your view as an African should be afrocentric, not eurocentric or arabcentric. That's how to survive and thrive in the world unless you're in slavery.

That's one of the reasons why I called Islam a toxic religion the other day. Unlike Christianity, the religion hasn't been reformed, and it's not reformable unless a new Qur'an is written and many traditions and practices of their "honorable" prophet repealed.

These things are not possible.
