What I have come to realize about the thought process of many around this part is that they care less about physical infrastructure and human capital development which is a prerequisite for long-term and sustainable growth and development; their primary concern is handouts otherwise known as stomach infrastructure.

There are people who are employed by government yet they're not doing the work expected of them, we have masons who will steal your building blocks and cement, carpenters who will steal your planks, bankers who will defraud banks and customers, civil servants who will inflate contracts and collect bribe, traders who will give you half-measure and defective goods; how can a country progress when majority are criminals and potential criminals?
There is no fear of God amongst the religious and the non-religious says the end justify the means.
We need a cultural reboot a nation under God
where meritocracy and uprightness is the standard not this system where people are not bothered

You made a generally sound post but that last 2 lines dent the messages.

Different people have different interpretations of their religions, hence moral standards are very different. When you say "nation under God", what exactly does that mean?
A nation where Allah allows men to marry underage girls because the holy prophet did it?
Or industries like casinos, alcohols, pork processing and many others are heavily restricted because of religious beliefs??

Once religion is introduced into any argument, it dilutes the substance of the argument because of the sheer impractility of those values.

Please, do well to quote me when you reply my mentions. I'll be grateful

So how does a carpenter who is religious and does not steal planks change this country as an individual?

It is very easy to type motivational quotes from the comfort of your QWERTY keypad, you know.
When he sees an evil and he's able to change with his hands he should do so, if he's incapable of doing so he should report to those who can do so, if he's unable to do so he should hate the evil and don't partake in it using as an excuse if you can beat them you join them as many have resorted to around this part.

He probably thinks those thugs listen to any voice of reason . A friend of mine share his experience at his own polling unit too about similar experience . Those thugs just profile u and assume u are not Yoruba and send u home cos they think u will vote against Sanwoolu ; they are not even mindful that Gbadebo sef na Yoruba man o.

I just hope this election comes and goes and people can go back to being their own government like it has always been . Provide water for urself , provide ur own security , provide ur own electricity , etc.

Just last week I told a driver not to follow one way he flatly refused and to my surprise no other passenger supported my stance though during previous discussion we were discussing the trouble with Nigeria; I have had countless examples where I challenged people for wrongdoing and I was met with opposition even in this section when I cautioned about harmful rhetoric I was nicknamed Imam of Peace and some of you went to exhume post I've made in the past which I have renounced from.

I am assuming you work in an office, drive to work, and have a good life and family. Its easy to see life this way, from your position

Every Nigerian does not steal. Infact Nigerians suffer a lot. I have not toured the world, but what Nigerians go through daily, just to survive cannot be explained

I see Hausa boys push wheel barrows, carrying almost half a tonne through long distances just to survive. No education, no future, nothing....He is not stealing, neither is he scamming anybody to eat.

Then I show up and tell him he can change this country?

This country is finished. If you can't japa, pray that God turns favour and blessings your way.

But you see this thing wey you type so? Na for primary school e dey realistic

When some of us talk about these things ; it sounds like wailing to some people but some of us say these things in order not to have a repeat of some sad incidents that happened in the past .

This profiling of people of a thing happened to my dad’s elder brother ; Alhaji the night MKO Abiola’s death was announced . The man is a muslim and was on his way home that evening when the mob action started .

Abiola’s death had been made official and most Yorubas in Lagos went on rampage attacking any Hausa man that comes their way . Alhaji was on jalabiya , Jejely making his way home when the fracas started . The mob he met on his way profiled him as Hausa and already descended on him before he even knew what their grouse with him was. Immediately he could make sense of their motives ; he started shouting at the top of his voice that he was Yoruba o(of course in Yoruba language ) . Some of them weren’t convinced he was and thought he was just a northerner who had stayed long in Lagos . He had to say some proverbs in Yoruba before they were finally convinced and let him go while apologizing and moving on seeking for the next victim .

The next day we were at his place to see the bruises on him, the man was just grateful to God he’s alive to tell the story .

These are the sad events some of us would not want to and do not believe should happen in 2023 cos of politicians trying to win elections in a democracy we all cried for back then .
You see how dangerous the tribal games APC have been playing is? They have always tried their best to make the election about tribe..and many educated ediots on this thread fanned it.

Now it have degenerated to a point it is affecting yorubas as well.

If there was a tribal clash today , I'm sure a lot of yorubas would be killed by these same APC thugs due to their inability to identify who is who.

The actual perpetrators are illiterates and dirty under bridge miscreants, while the educated ones are cheering them on. When it gets worse, the social media APC supporters will surely lose some one in the mayhem.

It’s scary . My uncle’s children were shipped down from Port Harcourt to Lagos to school in Unilag . Those boys only understand Yoruba when spoken to them but can’t make a complete sentence in the language without sounding funny despite having Yoruba names and their surnames being of Yoruba origin.

God forbid a fracas happens in somewhere around unilag and the boys are caught in the middle ; it’s obvious they will be profiled Igbo despite their names stating otherwise . These are the dangers of such profiling .

Even if the government pays lip service to carrying everyone along , I doubt if the damage done this election period can be repairable

Whatever APC is cooking in that state has to be uncooked, don't want APCs evil ideology of tribalism and bigotry rearing its ugly head in the state. It's bad enough we have cultism and agberoism as major factors already.

I don't really think Edo state really has tribalistic tendencies unlike other major tribes. Edo are mostly progressives and role with other tribes easily. The only thing I feel Edo people don't really like is classifying them as Igbos or Yorubas.

Although, I know Edo people get some yeye ethnicity bias amongst themselves like the Benins, Auchi, Esan etc. I've not been in the state for a long time so I can't say with certainty how the polity is now.
