Nigeria should have more cities allowed and built to function like Lagos, as long as it's only Lagos that functions the way it does in Nigeria, these sort of things will not stop. Abundance kills strife.
Lagos did not just become Lagos overnight nah. The Lagos of Today has had its present status gradually been built by huge historical investment from the pre-colonial era, colonial era and the post colonial era. Before the annexation of Lagos by the British in 1861, Lagos had flourished and produced numerous successful business men and women because of its geography as a port city.

Even the present day Lagos is not that special in comparison with other international cities of the world. It's just that in the world of blind, a one-eyed man is automatically the king.

Creating another city like Lagos will even benefit the country and can propel the country's GDP close to 1 trillion dollars (if done rightly), but it will demand a very huge long term infrastructural investment such as ports, railways, highways etc but where will the country struggling to complete Lagos-Ibadan expressway see the money to fund that kind of expenses.

Lagos has geographical advantage. A port city will 95% of the time flourish.

You should have asked LP people about how they debunked the leaks.

Yesterday na miscontrue, miscontrue we dey hear, as if we no go school to understand the conversation on the twitter space.
No Sir, Did you hear about it from LP members? All LP members and most neutrals have not heard such..

Larride has proven to be fair in his discussions here, he is more APC than you cos he is on ground unlike you abd me who are based abroad, he also attends party meetings and personally if such plots are to be discussed anywhere I would hazard a guess that it would be Ikorodu & Alimosho environs as they never turned up.

LP was never gonna win lagos in this election cycle, as evident on this thread most lagos based people who voted for LP in presidential stated they where gonna vote for Sanwo Olu.

Most APC partymen I know where disgusted as the ish turned tribal, Samwo Olu was always gonna win but I was happy seeing him putting in the graft, going from mechanic villages to churches.. Heck Aregbe went to solicit votes from the Hausa community that how it should be, not politicians believing power belongs to bourdillion.

It is not everytime a government must painfully raise money or borrow to fund projects now.
Airports, railways, power stations can be done with PPP or totally done by private investors who are willing to fund these projects like the Chinese, Germans for power station etc.
The black man is just wicked. Looking for excuses for not doing things.
A society is not as hard to run and managed the way they making it to look like.
Give any state to the Germans. I mean any useless state like jigawa and you will be ashamed to see what they would have turned it to in 10 years while the other blacks states are still in tatters

And as a certain philosopher once said : "Geography is destiny"

Same thing even applies to humans, a baby born in Switzerland is sure going to have a better life than the one born in Malawi.

Some persons overestimated the Obi wave, some underestimated it and others accessed it realistically. What I'd say though, is for a party that picked momentum less than 10 months ago, they did well.

I don't have to approve of it. I would describe it over and over again because it's the truth. I'm not here to soften the blows of reality. And Nairaland isn't the first online forum/social media platform I have stated this.

Anybody in the know would tell you that'd be the exact reaction of Calabar South boys to trying to erase their ancestry. Even I, an Ibibio, won't dare say it.

If I ever try calling Awka or Owerri a no man's land, you and I know I'd be dismembered there and then on the streets. We all know this. Don't dish out what you won't tolerate.

Shelve your gaslighting. It doesn't work on everyone.

He never debunked them, so my guess should be as good as yours now.

No sane person should vote for such scam.

Meanwhile, Naija politicians use both lawful and unlawful means to win elections and very unfortunate. Their belief is, he who outrigs wins and confirmation of popularity and strength.

Debunk what really? Lol He does not even have to give ear to such nonsense. Doing so will only add credence to it. But let that slide. GRV is a true born Lagosian and has the right to contest for election.

On the bolded, I am afraid that if the judiciary don't do anything, in the next elections it will be war as politicians will apart from campaigning, set up their own militias that will protect their votes and even assist in the rigging.

You sure have a point and I certainly agree with you that the Germans will transform a state like Jigawa to unimaginable heights within the shortest possible period. It's evident as daylight. Germany, despite losing two world wars, losing its colonies/territories and the huge payment of repatriations has once again raised itself into having the best performing economy in Europe. Those guys are something else.

It's shameful to say but Africans do not have that resilience and foresight to build a well run society. It's always about immediate gratification and consumption, there is that lack of will to suspend fulfilling immediate desires for a greater and better purpose. I don't want to dunk on my continent but omo Africans don't have it in them.

But these actions you just described are entirely condemnable. It doesn't matter if it is reality or otherwise.

Why should anyone be dismembered for what they say? It is wrong and if you know anyone who is inclined to do so, you should condemn them and notify the police for their immediate arrest.

@Bolded, so you mean Tinubu wasn't the builder of Lagos?

I get your point, and it's pretty much what I'm saying, we can and need to unlock more cities otherwise nothing much will change really.

I totally agree with you. Lagos is what it is because of the sea port coupled with once being the nation's capital.

There are several other points in the country where a sea port can be arranged. We can have more than 5 seaports in this country. This will reduce the pressure on Lagos.

The fact is ordinarily, Lagos will not want such as it will take away over 40% of it's IGR. But then they asked for it, when they say it is not 'no man's land'.
