first of all, you need to establish a mail trail not just phone call. so if this issue is not resolved you can put lagos and national consumer protection agency in copy this is another fly by night hustler company by the looks of it. no executive board on the homepage. usually a call or mail to the ceo or oga at the top straightens this out if you have sm clout, you acan also go for the shaming on twitter. after you have demonstrated that all else has failed you could even do the same with NL - if it gets pushed to FP. they do not like negative publicity. the problem however is that this may be a shit product that will still fail again. you can also consider going to their warehouse. they may have actual repairs there. it is possible the marketer is doing all he knows - a canned response

durodee: even in the west, all these warranty void disclaimers rarely hold up in court they just write them there. what you want to do is establish a mail trail. it is usually better to do this from the start the truth of the matter is most f these people selling these items are hustlers first and foremost with no actual support plan before one buys these items, it is advisable to google them the website, literature available etal will let you know exactly what kind of operation you are dealing with the most important thing as i said earlier, is establish a mail trail. then you can bring customer protection in. my understanding is these guys dont like that kind of wahala. problem is a shit product is a shit product its why for years i stuck to the 2.4 kva modified sine wave mercury inverter. very compact simple device. every other [sukam and co] inverter i bought went bad in three weeks from purchase. |

earthrealm: They know the products they are selling is substandard, the least they could do is offer a real warranty. This is the reason I don't take warranties from here serious as only very few will honour it when push comes to shove. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 7:29am On Mar 22, 2023 |
NpvnStar: Keep pushing till they tell you EXACTLY what their warranty cover, it'll be interesting to hear what they'll have to say. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 7:31am On Mar 22, 2023 |
durodee: The last person that tried this had to share the cost of the repairs with me as I had to insist they tell me what exactly they cover in their warranty and how I voided it. You'll be surprised to see they have nothing to say! 1 Like 1 Share |

mctfopt: hahahahhaha, i have been on both sides of the table at different times, so i have an unbiased perspective. errrm, but lemme ask you....since we all know that these chinese products are substandard, why do we still buy them?...why not go for premium products that cost an arm an a leg like victron or morning star?. the morning star 60amps charge controller is 650 dollars...wch is about 500k plus, then seller factors in profit..its heading towards 600k for a bloody charge controller -- but it comes with a robust 5yr few questions asked waranty, they sent out a replacement unit, sharp. but we all prefer the elcheapo 100k charge controller and still expect a world class performance. ![]() ![]() ![]() for these chinese products, most sellers are middle men and dont have the willpower & muscle to push for waranty from where ever they bought it from, only felicity, growatt , aedunamis to some extent, have i heard honor waranties. i would advice if you must buy these chinese products ..buy direct from the big distributor in nigeria, 2nd best option buy from the manufacturer/or big seller in china. they usually have a 1yr waranty, felicity i learnt does 2yrs waranty...Deye offers 5yrs waranty..but costs over 2x that of the average china inverter....so the avg nigerian runs from it. victron offers 5yr waranty, but costs about 4x the cost of avg china inverter ![]() ![]() 4 Likes |

NpvnStar: yep, the chinese market is quite gray...one oem may be producing all these stabilizers, and branding other companies name on it. you for example..if you buy upto 50 pieces of an inverter or stabilizer from china can ask them to brand it NpvnSta and they will....and voila another inverter make don enter naija market....ramp up your purchase to say 200 units...and they would be willing to add a few customizations/changes that you may desire.................... ![]() the american/european biz model isnt so. brand names are jealously guided |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by FEGEITOK: 3:56pm On Mar 22, 2023 |
earthrealm: There is a car for everyone...There is an inverter for everyone....pick your battles wisely... But honestly, I think it is better someone knows what he is buying and why he is buying at the time of purchase and not after things go wrong. Not everyone can start with the top of line for inverters, charger controllers, batteries, and PVs. However, we can start small, and sell off when as the funding situation improves, and upgrade as well. I have been fortunate this is my second year and no inverter issues. But I did not go for a no-name inverter or cheap inverter nor did I go for cheap batteries or cheap panels. The only thing I skimped on was and is the charge controller. |

earthrealm: Baba before nko ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Me think that the "secret" is we shouldn't go for the absolute lowest priced inverter as much as possible. However whatever you end up with, respect it and its design flaws. Because that product that you swear didn't serve you has served another person for 2 or more years of no problem. 1 Like |

mangolpupa:Respect includes teaching your family and your staff to respect your inverter. I learned that the day one of my workers connected a 1,000-watt iron to a 1.5KVA inverter. I had to warn him not to cause problems for me! |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mangolpupa: 4:30pm On Mar 22, 2023 |
FEGEITOK: I concur with all you've said oga mi. E reach to warn am oo (@ bolded). My system is not up yet but I'm seriously considering adding a IV (W) regulator downstream the inverter. (ie. device won't allow you draw more than set KW at any one time). Do you think this works? (The only issue I see here is perhaps, surge power requirements being blocked) Alternatively will be to wire an inverter exclusive socket round the house and I don't want that. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by FEGEITOK: 4:41pm On Mar 22, 2023 |
mangolpupa: I don't use one and I have not researched one so I am not in a position to advice. It seems to make sense though |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by earthrealm(m): 4:42pm On Mar 22, 2023 |
FEGEITOK: Na so, assuming the inverter spoil, he go quickly unplug am and pretend..now you will be shouting upandan that ur inverter of barely 1 month has gone bad...not knowing what transpired. With what i know, i will not offer an any waranty on any china RE product, if the installation doesnt include 247 online data logging and or plus 247 video coverage too. People are wicked....people may carelessly or ignorantly spoil something and pretend..turn around to be screaming warantty. When PHCN brought 410v in my street.it fried every every.in my street, but my aedunamis 15kva stab prevented it from entering....but eventually damaged a component of the stabilizer after 1hr of humming . So i simply bought a digital avr of 15usd to protect the stabilizer for next time and set it such that only voltage btw 150v and 270v can pass tru to the stabilizer. The avr is cheap..if anything shud damage, mek e be the avr....though the avr is robust and can withstand 600v according to the manufacturers, unlike stabilizer..that can handle max 310v 7 Likes |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by earthrealm(m): 4:45pm On Mar 22, 2023 |
mangolpupa: You need to... So the inverter inbuilt overload protector serves as plan b. Buy the resettable type, so you can set the passtru current to jive with 70% capacity. |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mangolpupa: 5:12pm On Mar 22, 2023 |
earthrealm: Thanks boss. Any resettable brand you can recommend? Another thing is how will be resettable w regulator deal with surge demands. I guess technical spec will be able to tell avr response time . |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by earthrealm(m): 5:40pm On Mar 22, 2023 |
mangolpupa: You hv to factor in surge. It will all boil down to your buying th3 device and testing it out at varioussettings to see what works for you. Alternatively some inverters now have a secondary output...which you can play around with. It could turn off based on battery SoC or load setttings etc. Think mine is tomzn |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by GloriousGbola: 6:16pm On Mar 22, 2023 |
FEGEITOK: The ups cost like 250k to fix if I recall, and the enterprise oracle server went down. Because one poorly trained security guard saw power in an isolated server room. In hindsight, who knows all the stunts those guys had been pulling on the ups powered circuits. When mtn came to Nigeria, they enacted a policy of changing all ups outlets to German schuko because office workers were connecting boiling rings to the UK flatpin ups outlets Abuse of ups/inverter by end users is a real problem 1 Like |
Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by GloriousGbola: 6:20pm On Mar 22, 2023 |
earthrealm: But that is the problem in itself. An industrial stabiliser is SUPPOSED to have a high voltage cut off. Especially one sold in this environment And the person selling is supposed to give professional advice. The customer is unlikely to be an engineer or techie |

Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by GloriousGbola: 6:32pm On Mar 22, 2023 |
FEGEITOK: You know security guard is another hustle - as in you (oga in the company) give the contract for security to one of your friends who sets up a security company. The guards can literally be picked off the street. So the security vendor took the hit on the cost and the fallout. Normally they will just cycle the guard to some other place, but the cost and fallout here na sack matter or worse. I learnt the hard way that 90% of security companies are just some very frustrated guys in uniforms 1 Like |
