Why Lp Lost In Enugu. by domDva(m): 12:20am On Mar 23, 2023 |
Without prejudice to any possible rigging by pdp, there are three key factors that gave PDP victory in Enugu. There is no doubt that A LOT of people in Enugu are tired of PDP and would easily vote for any other popular candidate. However, Mr Okey Ezea, an LP senator elect from Nsukka in that infamous video circulated online was seen shouting that the governorship election is a Do or Die affair for Nsukka people, that Nsukka is more populated than Nkanu and should use their alleged voting strength to elect Edeoga who most people from Enugu East see as an Nsukka man. That outburst re-enforced that feeling. Every Nkanu man and woman took that outburst as a direct challenge, Frank Nweke factor: The Apga candidate got support from a lot of independent minded Obidients who felt that voting along party line is not the right thing to do, they prefer a candidate regarded as more competent notwithstanding the party. Most of them chose Nweke of Apga, Aisha Yesufu pushed hard for Nweke. This ultimately ate deep into Obidient votes that naturally would have gone to LP. Thirdly, a lot of people in Enugu consider Edeoga as incompetent, he has been in government since 1999 but it is hard to point out to his achievements. He was the immediate past commissioner for environment in Enugu at a time that Enugu became filthy. Though, he claimed that the parastatal in charge of keeping the city clean was taken away from his office and placed in the office of the Governor. A lot of people didn’t buy this excuse. Mba is no saint but people believe that since he has succeeded in the private sector as the owner of Pinnacle Oil, he will be a better choice than a career politician who has nothin to show for his years in government. In summary: Nkanu and Nsukka “fight”, emergence of Obidient Frank Nweke of Apga and the alleged incompetence of Edeoga worked against him 15 Likes 1 Share |

LP lost because Peter Mbah of PDP is more competent to handle the affairs of Enugu. I thought Aisha Yesufu was fronting Frank Nweke Jnr of APGA? Some people think too highly of themselves on social media, but are irrelevant when it is not a matter of protest, which is their strength. 15 Likes |

People get carried away by the Ellupee wave, and seem to forget Peter Mbah actually has a better track record of performance in both the public and private sector than Edeoga...we have to be careful not to allow the LP frenzy deny us better governance because we're blinded by emotions, any charlatan with no proven antecedents can easily contest for political office under LP because he/she is sure of getting massive votes. 13 Likes |

Voting Edeoga would have defeated what Peter Obi stands for . Edeoga is like tinubu of Enugu state politics and has been in the state politics since 1989 when Peter Obi was still a teenager..,such people do not have anything new to offer 5 Likes |

BombAttack:Calm down, while I m not in support of thuggery, I ll say GRV lost decisively. People rallied round to reelect Sanwoolu. Secondly, the south east surprised many individual thinkers by not decisively voting LP candidates in the Guber. Except Alex Otti who was favorite from beginning, other LP candidates struggled despite the revival LP said it's doing in south east. Maybe they later realised it's about voting individuals and not party, I don't know. But whatever it is, playing POLITICS of division, hate etc is hurting the south east at state and federal level. Thank you OP. I'm happy about the raised points, because, as per what obtains in this election period generally, it's quite relatable. Please let me add a buttress. domDva: Dear LPers, Igbos, these three points are similar to those that caused loss of LP in Lagos on March 17th, not necessarily the 'Yoruba are tribalistic and they won't vote their own' mantra nor the violence. Also points 1 and 3 are major cause of Tinubu's election, and less but significant point 2, on 25th Feb. On point 1: Going forward, you people will learn to arrest your careless talk cos it gets noone anywhere. Even Trump lost reelection for it. It's inflammatory and inciteful. GRV shouldn't go about burning bridges, alongside Obidients, with mouths. No insult or abuse and media manipulation Tinubu and S'Olu didn't attract from you lot simply for exercising their right to be voted for. Others have opinions and yours mustn't win always. It portrays an emotional demeanor devoid of logic and respect for others. If it's about detribalized administration, these men had Igbos and other tribes in the cabinet, so it's hard to see why they attract that much hate from you and not other tribes - really hard! 2. If everyone who never lived in Nigeria and doesn't feed on propaganda, but facts, stats, contributions, numbers, and competence were to vote in these elections, at least Tinubu or S'Olu would attract 75% of the world voters because they'll prefer logic to emotions, hearsay. Tinubu and S'Olu proved themselves extremely worthy during their tenure. There's a reason Lagos remains soaring. The stats are there for anyone. The fact people can even easily make evidences off the former men's work is a strong backing. Obi and GRV couldn't just fly. Soludo had great stats/numbers as CBN g'nor. He was about the best thing to the organization. Umahi too should make a great president. 3. Obi's Anambra growth, if any, was snaily. Obi has to be one of most incompetent g'nors in Nigeria's history. He was 8-year Anambra governor, doctors strike, Anambra's ASUU lecturer strike, >400 school fees increase, poor state investment policies, involving state's affairs into religion's, dishing out needless wrong stats, etc. These can't be said of Tinubu. If incompetency has a synonym, let it be replaced with Peter Obi. 10 Likes |

I know there'll be noise and insults over my raised points above, truth must, however, be given a chance and preached. Meanwhile, I hope you guys learn a lot from your own setbacks and disadvantages going forward. We'll be glad and swift to remove Tinubu, GRV if someone with better profile comes along or they fail to deliver. There's a reason people clamour for Akinwumi Adeshina, Dora Akunyili, Zulum Babangana, and Fashola everyday. 1 Like |

In other news, 6 people just got killed in Ojo LG on three different days following the guber election in Lagos. That's a more realistic concern about the chicken coming home to roost. 2 Likes |

haybhi1: STFU, people were attacked in my pu in Lagos for not being Yoruba, our neighbours from Kwara and Abeokuta were telling us to go back to our villages just because we wanted to vote a Yoruba. Stop gaslighting people, if we can pay taxes in Lagos then we can vote and support whoever we damn please without intimidation. Stop using igbos and non Yorubas as instrument of separation and a ploy to win elections. You always played the Igbo card on opposition parties in Lagos from pdp right from 2003 to 2023.. this division you're (APC) sowing amongst neighbors in Lagos would morph into a full blown communal crisis one day Umahi would make a good president until he decides to run, you'll remember he's omo Igbo and start this madness all over again. |
