I grew up in Aba Abia State with many Yorubas from primary school up to university level and non of them were molested or feel uncomfortable in anyway rather they all feel at home. Nobody reminded them that they are non-indigenes or referred them as immigrate the way Yoruba refer to non-Yoruba in Lagos. I remember one Bimbe that ran away from her family house to stay with her boyfriend who is my friend because her parents wanted to bring her back to Yorubaland. It is those unexposed ones that never travel out of their enclave that think Nigeria start and end in Lagos.

How does providing one or few examples refute a general statement of the South East being less welcoming

The truth is that the Yorubas are far more accommodating than the Igbos. The few Yorubas never claimed that they developed the area they
are living in and never claimed any southeastern states to be no man's land. The problem between Igbos in the west is an extended age problem. A common Igbo man believes that Lagos is no man's land, which is an insult to his host. Respect your host and their culture, you will not have any problem
