Hello Trippledots,

Sorry to hear you're having a similar experience.

I have bought several items from ALABACONNECT in the past. 70% of which had minor issues. I mostly purchase AC units from him. The only reason I kept patronizing him was that he was always quick to offer a solution and how he conducts his business shows me he's reasonable.

I bought a washing machine from him 2 years ago for my parents. It didn't last up to 3 months and it became faulty. I didn't inform him because it was working when they delivered it and my parents used it for a while before it got spoiled. They didn't spoil it, one of the washing machine parts just gave out probably from existing wear and tear/usage.

Early this year, I wanted to purchase some AC units for my new apartment. I purchased more than 5 units from another seller on Jiji because of my experience with ALABACONNECT in the past. I didn't want to risk it.

For used TV, the only person I can vouch for is glaceglory.

The only thing is that his TVs are very pricey and that's what the Alaba Market Boys on Nairaland capitalize on. They Ship in tons of TVs for cheap prices, some tested, others non-tested. Repair the faulty TVs, package, and sell.

PS: I have a 1.5kva Luminous hybrid inverter and I have used it with my TV without any issues. I don't think your inverter is the cause.

I just don't want to mention your other moniker here. It doesn't mean I'm stupid

When your other moniker became popular/ a well-known brand you decided to stop using that account here on Nairaland so people won't drag that brand.

I got AC from you a while back (2-3 years ago) after which I stopped patronizing you entirely.

Please check the screenshot below

I always come with receipt. Is this not you admitting you can't remember if I asked you for the price of the TV when I called.

How do I have your other number then?

You guys rented out the whole ground floor. Selling Tvs using different brand names.

In the last screenshot, I didn't include the business name because it's your second brand and it's very popular.

Chief, you are not wise. I have just one shop and one brand there. Just be making a fool of yourself on this platform. I have nothing to prove to you. I asked you to present a receipt of purchase from me and you are still beating about the Bush.

Are you not Chike?

You registered ALABACONNECT in 2021 and I did business with you 2-3 years ago. I still have the transaction receipt and our chat from 2019.

All payments I made were done to your personal account. (Skye bank and Union bank)

I take back all I said if you're truly not Chike.

Sorry for mistaking you for Chike.

Chike called me after I made my post calling out CHIEF NWOSU for defrauding me. Throughout the entire time the saga was going on, I noticed ALABACONNECT and Sommydiasater accounts actively viewing the thread.

When I mentioned his brand, he called me to ask me not to include his brand as it wasn't him I did business with but with CHIEF NWOSU.

Plus some things you mentioned in my own thread made me believe you and Chike are the same person.

Boss they are all scammers.
That's how I got a pixel phone from Igemburg last year, immediately I received the phone and I start using it.. it will go on and off at intervals. I complained to him, he said it will stop, that he didn't notice.

After a week, the phone went off completely, he said maybe it's the battery, I have to drag him before he could send the battery replacement, i enter engineer shop, they said it's not the battery, and the phone has been opened before.

This is a phone he claimed was UK used ooo.

I wanted to resell the phone, they were calling 2k for me. It shall never be well with guy.

I used part of my accommodation fee to pay for the phone. I was able to complete it last month.

The phone is just sitting idle now..

And trust he knew what he did.

Now he has changed his format, not uk used phones anymore, but 9ja used..

Until he refund me my money, I will never forgive him, whenever I see threads like this, I always feel like crying. I never knew I could fall for such a cheap scam.

I'm not trying to defend anybody but UK used TVs are quite risky sometimes.
My brother also sells TVs at Alaba. He once had an experience of buying it direct from UK. Tested it and it was working fine. He hung it on display for customers to buy. It was there for more than a month before his old time customer came around, saw the TV(LCD) and wanted to buy it for his bedroom. He stepped out to get other things and promised to come back for the tv.

Less than 1hr after leaving the shop, the TV went off for no reason. Long story short; Warranty and life span of the TV ended that day but I was later fixed and sold.
It happens but where I fault him is for his reluctance to do something about it. I know it difficult and painful to accept but He has his name to protect; count your loss and move on.

when I read comments like this,I smile......unless you are in a field, you really can't tell what is going on.when 5 clients come out to comment same thing about 1 person, the best you can do is private chat the seller, ask him why things are going wrong, advice him not to SPOIL the NAME he has BUILT over the YEARS.will give you an example...I will not mention company names,I worked with one of the first phone/computer service companies in computer village for 9 years.....there is no new tricks you can tell me about computer village,we know who runs them.......around 2010,this big phone seller, the biggest in computer village had issues with few customers.when they buy a new phone,1..pictures and contact numbers are already stored on them,2 develops a charging problem within 1/2 weeks. There is a trend with sellers when they have established and made a name for themselves, they infiltrate their market with sub standard items and sell as good items just to make more profit.....because they have made a reputable name over the years, those they sold to when they were humble and wanted to make that name would ofcus come to their defense cus the item they sold them is still working till date..... Most not all electronic/phone sellers are living on past glory...........I bought a TV here 7 years ago from graceglory, worked perfectly till I switched to 86" straight from LG office.....please when buying electronics,go and see the product yourself, sit in their shop for 2 hours testing the Tv,because once you leave with a faulty TV,the trouble starts......
86 inches? wow you are a big madam lol shocked

Interesting that you mention he is Acunon because the OPs story mirrors my experience with him.

Got a broken TV waybilled to me. He insisted that we must share the cost of fixing it. To avoid total loss, I agreed. He sent me back the TV without the stand. Asked him to send the stand and he tells me to pay for it. Like what sort of lowly scum does that Luckily, I wall mount at my place but wanted to upgrade from the 55 and give it to my mum but can’t because she doesn’t wall mount.

Posted about it here https://www.nairaland.com/1792599/buy-plasma-lcd-led-televisions/496#113154364

Truth is that even if they aren’t all the same person, they share the same criminal mode of operation and it’s best to stay away.

HOW IT ENDED..

So after many back and forth and considerations, I had to concede to this seller to a 60/40 refund. I forfeited #76,000 of my money, and he took custody of the TVs. He paid the money in three instalments with me having to cajole and remind him about it in a space of about 1month. (I really hated to have to remind him about it.)

So I'm 76K SHORT WITH NO TV.

I have counted my losses and relative gains, shrugged off the feelings of loss as much as possible.

Will I RECOMMEND SELLER TO MY ENEMY, HELL NO!
.
.
.
Looking at the positives; from the escalation of this issue here, someone contacted me for a solar installation deal that I made some small profit from, and the client is also enjoying his installation. Client was going to commit funds to seller for a TV but this escalation made him rethink his decision. Now he is enjoying value for his hard earned money (see pic 2)

Na God use that one console me.

I have reverted back to my projector that has not disappointed me both before and after the whole TV problem (see attached pic). I'm still using same inverter, surge, and power supply that the seller said probably damaged his TVs. Infact I have added an AC to my inverter and it powers it with no problem
