Is it okay to email or phone HR for an update?

Are you sure you checked well? Nigeria is still very much on the list.

The implication of the list is that recruitment agencies cannot recruit health workers from Nigeria to the UK. Direct application is still very much valid.

Please, for someone who came to the UK as a dependant to a skilled worker but got to the UK and wants to switch his visa to a sponsored skilled worker (HCA), will a English language proficiency test result be required.

Note: he hasn't submitted any English language proficiency test before for any visa application

Also, can he use the DBS check done by his present employer as the police check?

Lastly, will tuberculosis test be required for applications within the UK

Thank you

As long as they want to. Depending on how urgently they need you. Just ensure you complete all your tasks and 'exercise' patience. Your CoS will not pass you

Someone with deep knowledge of this shld pls explain to us.

1) Does it mean only NHS can employ from the counties on red list and healthcare companies can't again?

2) Will it affect those that have always gotten COS and are from the red list countries?

3) Will it also affect those that have already applied for the visa and awaiting decision but are from the red list countries?

Your response and feedback will be beneficial and appreciated by large number of people on this forum

1. Is unlikely that NHS will be recruiting social/health workers from redlist countries.

2. This will not affect those with COS already

3.No it will not affect those awaiting visa decision

The WHO update their red list countries every 3years and Nigeria has been on the list, I'm surprised people are just noticing this now.

What that article means is that recruiting agencies from UK can't come to Nigeria to recruit. An example is EducationUSA, they're an international organisation that comes to Nigeria to lecture student who wishes to study in the USA.

So it means recruiting agencies from an hospital or a care home in UK can't come to Nigeria to lecture and recruit people because the UK government signed a treaty with the Nigerian government to recruit healthcare worker from Nigeria but the Nigerian government declined it. So it means you're the one who will apply yourself to the company, the company won't send their recruiting personnel over here.

It's clearly written that organisations are only permitted to recruit on the terms of the government-to-government agreement, but in the case of Nigeria, the agreement signed can't let them.

The healthcare route hasn't been stopped, Na just rumour. COS will keep coming and those greedy agents will continue cashing out.

No o. Nigeria has been on that list for a long time. I think the Nigerian government signed that treaty when they noticed the high numbers of healthcare worker leaving the country. They can't ask us not to leave the country so they stopped international organisations from sending recruiting agencies over here.

This is just an updated list, we've been on the list before now

The op could have meant to show his/her pain and frustration that some bad actors have hijacked the recruitment process and made it difficult for people to secure a job within the social work route...
