I have both ma, I have okro, tomatoes, pepper, efo tete

for the leafy, you can broadcast urea in the evening and water/irrigate immediately to avoid burning of leaves.
for fruity, u can side-dress with NPK.

Farmtech not Fatmtech lol. Anyway, for leafy vehetables, chicken manure is the best. For fruits like cucumber, I use pig manure in the planting holes, after some weeks I side dress with poultry manure and during flowering, I use NPK weekly and also side dress with poultry manure. Side dressing with pig manure have not given me gud result unless it is buried.

I enjoyed your thread and the clarity in it. So what time is most appropriate to spray the herbicide? Because I'm a bit confused here. And is it compulsory to spray it ?

Jub101:
Okro seed germinate after 3 to 4 days of planting depending on the moisture content in the soil. Please spray the herbicides before emergence of the seed as 2-4D is highly harmful to Okro plant. It is advisable not to even use it if you will not be observant of the germination time frame

Spray immediately after planting and if work doesn’t permit spray no longer than 2days after planting

I haven’t applied fertilizers at all. I do use foliar fertilizer tho. I will be doing just one application with 20:10:10 NPK

Application of fertilizer depends on a lot of factor which is why soil test is very key. The land I use is very high in organic debris I can even do without fertilizer if I want to but to get an optimum yield I will apply a little to reduce stress of pod formation on the Okro plants

Okay. Thank you. Please how is okra planted? Is it planted by boring holes and putting the seeds inside or by just spraying it on the soil? And can it be planted immediately after tilling the ground or after some time?

I had to stifle a laugh…

You corrected OP on the right spelling of your name and then went ahead to spell vegetables as vehetables. It just proves that no one is above mistakes. But that’s on the lighter side…

Nice thread. Kept me engaged till 12. 52 a.m had to read till the last page 7 even though feeling sleepy.

But it was a good read and worth it. I sure learnt a thing or two here.

Kudos to OP for sharing your knowledge and every other person that contributed to make the thread interestingly educative!

My ongoing dry season OKRO project. Planted on November 6. I planted it intentionally in the furrow for it retains water more than ontop of the ridges.

Vegetable farming is very tedious so pleas think about it before you start o. Lucrative IF cultivated at the right time but not easy.

To newbies please always try and start small even if you have the money to spend. Your first project should always be your learning curve. Don’t go and waste your time, money and effort.

We have been battling whiteflies with imiforce spraying every 5days. With the presence of rain now their numbers have reduced. The Okro are about 45days old now.

With the use of good seed I was able to attain 95% germination rate . The seeds were planted in double row on each bed and 4-5 seed placed in each hole.
do you thin them down to one or let grow like that?
