hayesconcept: Sorry to ask but I have seen comments about this 'Provisional Licenses.' For me it's useless (via HearSay), but would like to know the essence of people getting it when they know you cannot drive with it? Is it not better to either use 9ja License or take the test to get The Brits own? |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by hayesconcept(m): 10:54am On Apr 04, 2023 |
You will need the provisional license to book your theory and practical driving test. The card can also be used for identification purposes. DoDirtsLikeWorm: 3 Likes |

DoDirtsLikeWorm: If you have your international driving licence plus your provisional licence, you can drive without anyone accompanying you. But note: your international licence expires a year after you enter UK, that means, after a year, it becomes invalid and you can't drive with prov licence alone, except you are accompanied. They expect that within a year of entering UK, you should get your main licence.. And if unfortunately, it doesn't happen (which is the case for many immigrants), you must be accompanied by someone who who has gotten his main licence for 3 or more years. I see a lot of pp driving with only prov licence, the police might not check, but if any issues happens like crash/accident etc, it won't be funny... Also note, with international driving licence alone your insurance is high, with prov licence added, its lower, but with main licence, insurance is very low. Hope this helps you. 10 Likes |

Hello guys, I apologise this is a long post but I need your contributions please. My brother is registered with indeedflex and he was given a shift at Sainsbury's. When he was about to leave after the shift they were told they all need to be searched cos someone stole from one of the sections. However, they didnt see anything on him. Some days after his shift he did not receive payment and he first contacted the shift leader in Sainsbury's who said he will not be paid cos he was caught stealing. He probed further to understand where the accusation was coming from but they stopped responding. He then contacted indeedflex and they repeated same thing. He told them that it was a blatant lie and needs evidence of that. He sent several messages to talk about how the accusation has traumatized him and affected him financially. After some days they finally paid him and according to indeedflex it was cos he returned the stolen item when confronted. He insisted it was all false and he needs them to investigate and show him CCTV evidence or something. They said they cannot release the evidence cos of GDPR, that they will not push it any further but will keep an eye on his account. He has not gotten shifts in Sainsbury's ever since. We need advice on how we can get to the root of this please, it is a serious and false accusation that has the tendency of tarnishing his image. There were other black agency workers that worked there on that day and this could be a case of mistaken identity. Do we need to talk to a lawyer? 5 Likes |

Yes but you can also look out for other accounts that are doing switching bonus. I am not so sure if First Direct still has their switch bonus on. Check on a Google Davidonkonsults: |

Preshyi: E be like Lawyers dey call this one "Assassination of Character". Getting a lawyer might be necessary here claiming their accusations has affected you psychologically and financially. An your image being seen as a th!ef. Oyibo them dey run am and you will be expecting hundreds if not millions of pounds for that accusing you wrongly. Lawyers in the house should tell us better on how it can be done. |

You can't get the share code bro. Fill out the form they sent and return it with your Brp for verification. You will need to buy a postal stamp to send it back to Dvla. Once they finish the verification they will return your Brp and the Provisional license. hustla: 1 Like |

Experienced hands in the house, please I need your help with a section 21 notice. Our one year tenancy agreement is due to end mid April. On the 9th of March, we were served with section 21 notice (2months) that the landlord wants to sell….. We’ve secured another place and rent is starting mid April but the letting agency insists we’ve to pay the bills and rent for the current place till end of section 21 notice which is mid May. The letting agency is insisting we’ve to pay the bills and rent till end of 21 notice period before moving out. But since we’re out of contract by mid April, I’m not sure where the legal obligation lies. Pls advise us on what to do, as we can’t pay rents for two places |

I would expect your contract to supersede whatever this letting agency is saying. I will start by writing them back stating that you have looked up the government website and it's clearly states that a Section 21 notice to evict a tenant is after a fixed term tenancy ends. And as you have a contract in place, by law there's no point waiting till mid May. You can say you are currently getting legal advice and would leave you no choice but to take legal action if however they insists further you cover bills for the month of May. https://www.gov.uk/evicting-tenants/section-21-and-section-8-notices This is how I will go about it. Hopefully more experienced peeps in the house will weigh in wanney: 4 Likes 1 Share
