How did English become the official language of UK where you have Scottish, Gaelic and Irish speaking people?
But the number 1 language for Ireland from Google search isn't English nau.

So unless you are saying there was a written agreement between the middle-belt and the Hausas that they would adopt hausa as the official language, I don't see the link.

But I am open to being educated though

I already said there's a possibility the leak was just a tip of the iceberg and obedients that are rejoicing saying that's the worst don't know how espionage works.

I suspect the reason for the first leak might be to see how Obi and that god of man would react first and their not outrightly denying it was all they need to release further damning leaks

All in all I find leaking Someone's private phone conversation disturbing. I for one do say things on phone to people I wouldn't really be proud of saying in person. I'm pretty certain if the same is done for your Tinubu you won't like it either and I'm sure there would be things he might have said that he won't be proud of. having to dig someone's phone for dirt is highly unethical

It's funny to believe phone calls won't be monitored in any serious country

In the US it's covered under the Patriot act. Do you think you can have a phone call discussing how to bring terrorists in and you won't have FBI on your doorsteps in a few hours

Under the guise of threat to national security, anything in your life is open game for govt. And if not criminal to be a national security issue, they leak it out to blogs

That's why criminals use burner phones, talk in codes or meet in person and have a conversation while walking at least not in a stationary place where they can be picked up

Do you have Alexa at home you will be surprised at how much of your life it knows

My fridge without instructions will scan the content and tell you that you are running low on eggs and suggest nearby stores and prices

That's how Amazon will cast you that it's a year ago you bought a sexdoll and it's time to replace the battery

Northern Ireland uses English as its official language and part of UK, Republic of Ireland isn't part of UK.
Hausa is the language of trade and then administrative upon the expansion of Sokoto Caliphate which cuts across the North.

the suspension is just to pander to the horde. the journalist has an editor he reports to. that one has a general editor. this would not have been released without clearance all the way to the top because of how sensitive it is. this is not a david hundeyin operation where it starts and ends with him

you can only face legal charges if they identify you as the leaker. even then, what is the actual nigerian law?

you don not realise just how far leaking convos goes.

there are call recorder apps on android phones. so i can decide to get an app and record calls of dodgy clients or bosses for future insurance.

isreali firms provide phone hacking services to nogerian governors and big wigs. i stated this earlier as this is why otedola has a vertu phone. a luxury dumb phone

since you guys are falling over yourselves to shout deepfakes - remember that MBS hacked jeff bezos phone when he sent him a picture message.

the other day someone sent me a strange pdf file and i was feeling paranoid that it was a stenographed attack vector

it is highly unlike NCC has anything to do with this, as Buharis admin has done everything they can to fk over tinubus presidential bid.

all someone has to do is release the audio and let social media do the rest.

finally, tinubu is not peter obis mate. if peter obi will not call his raving dogs to order, he will reap the whirlwind. it is what it is.

You remember during Jonathan's time when Tinubus calls to Justice Ayo Salami were recorded and I think someone released it.

Last campaign when Tinubu went to Oyo to campaign after the campaign, he had a close door meeting with Makinde where I believe the modalities of their rub my back I rub your back that happened in Presidential and governorship elections was finalized. It's not like they couldn't have this conversation on the phone but some of the content of the call if in wrong hands will be serious anti party offence

If Obi does not know that calls can be recorded by govt and service providers then he is still a boy who has not gone through puberty that's why his voice never crack

So basically that stayed with the people.
This makes sense.
Like what nihilistjnr said.

So would you say it is impossible to reverse that effect going forward..

There is a systematic ethnic profiling going on currently in Nigeria against the Igbos. Political rascals want to blame them for anything bad that happens in this country.

That was how ethnic cleansing began in Germany and Rwanda.

Never Again.

Let every Igbo man (including those that resemble Igbos) start making emergency plans to relocate to the SE at the slightest sign of attack.

My 2cents

Do you know how much has been heavily invested in other regions?

Nigeria had a better chance of separating in 1966. It cannot even happen now.

When you have an heterogeneous state like in the middle belt, some states with over 50 languages then you need a lingua franca. Hausa being the largest language to them naturally becomes that.

Check every state where there is multiple languages they either adopt pidgin or the other major language

It will be why pidgin will be more prevalent in Rivers and Delta than in Enugu or Oyo

If they want to reverse it which language will somewhere like Plateau state chose? When some of those 50 languages are spoken by less than 1 LGA

If you are within your community you can speak than language but when you go to Jos and 7 people gather where they speak different languages you have to adopt a general one either English, Pidgin or Hausa

It's impossible.

That ruling structure has persisted for so long.

Initially protecting itself through military might, Dan Fodio introduced Religious Reform to continue to legitimise it, the Bastard Lugard used inDirect Rule to preserve it, the outgoing colonials used NPC and parliamentary numerical advantage based on fake census to Rebrand it, and since the civil war and the formulation of "Federal Character policies", successive governments have entrenched it.

Those guys are the real owners of Nigeria. When I constantly demand restructuring or breakup of the country, its primarily because I want my independence....from THEM!!!

Hausa is not the official language of Middle Belt/ North Central. Have you been to Benue, Kogi, Kwara?

Makurdi, Lokoja those places na English. Ilorin na English and bit Yoruba.

Minna, Lafia and Jos.. Hausa is widespread. Ease of communication, doing business and all.

All those places have their indigenous languages which they are very proud of.

Note: I am using capital of the states in Middle Belt.

Is during election that you will know there are proud of their languages .

All other states in North Central can have Muslim/Christian as governor and deputy governor but state like Benue and Plateau will always be Christian/Christian.

In Kogi for instance where we have different ethnicities English Pidgin is used as the language of communication in Lokoja the state capital. An Ebira person wont drop his language for Igala likewise an Okun speaking person or a Bassa man

The world is now a different place compared to what happened in 1966. We are too inter dependent on each other that almost everyone will be affected when push comes to shove.
