When buying your ticket, you either choose your seat or one is given to you (if you did not choose any). You get to the airport and check in at the counter. You then go to the the boarding gate and your ticket is checked with your ID to see if they tally. The airline staff will now board you by taking your seat no. and ticking it in their system to show you are boarded. You then proceed to the aircraft, where you are frisked again and then the air host/hostess will now show you your seat using your boarding pass which has your seat no.
Even in late arrival by the passenger, if the seat had been given to another person, you would not be allowed at the foot of the aircraft until a seat is found for you and you are properly boarded. These things follow a process that must be strictly adhered to.

#FactCheck: According to a feedback given by the lady, she paid for Economy class which was already full but there were 2 empty seats in the business class where Obi was seated. Obi's offer of his seat will naturally make the airline officials give him one of the empty seats. Yes, it is possible for the airline to have a mix up and assign 2 persons to a seat especially if they re trying to merge passengers from 2 different flights. This is typical with Nigerian local flights. It is also possible to step up someone from Economic class to Business class usually at the discretion of the airline officials.

I have seen this mix up in an aircraft before. This is especially possible in Nigeria's local flights when they cancel flights and try to merge the passengers in the 2 cancelled flights. It is not an issue for the flight attendants to sort out if there are empty seats in the aircraft but for a fully boarded aircraft it is an issue.

I still don't get what your argument about seat is all about. The exact same thing has happened to me before, and not only in Nigeria. You can get to the aircraft to discover that your seat is being occupied by someone else. Airline crews resolve this all the time. What is your point exactly? That it is impossible? Or that you cannot get near the aircraft when your seat has been alloted to another passenger?
