You are looking at the effect.. You have refused to acknowledge the seriousness of the cause.

Again if these guys go on strike wetin any of us go do ni?

I am a common man, so i need to look at the effect.

I may need to take my mum to the hospital someday.

I get there, and i join the queue for 6 hours

Who is on the losing side? Me or the NASS member that proposed the bill?

bro, university is not even supposed to be for everybody.. it's not even a criteria for success..

Most white people I talk to, most of them don't even go to university.. but the have jobs and some create jobs for themselves..

What a serious government should create is industrial training learning enablement..

Most people who go to university in Nigeria are there because they don't pretty have any other good choice or due to parental and societal pressure and coercion..

I think our university is very very over saturated.. if people who are meant to go to university are the ones there, I don't think we will be having all these half baked graduates that they keep churning out that can't even defend shiit..

Obi didn't contest the PDP primaries to begin with, man.

Nope. He did things differently. Not indebting your state is setting you apart from the old hands. No Nigerian governor since then has been able to match this singular record.
Managing scarce resources well is different from the old hands.

Obi is the only one of the top 3 candidates who didn't campaign based on tribe. Come on, man. He asked for a level-playing field and excused himself from the Primaries because it was dollarized.

No. The Third Force movement began in 2020 while Tinubu was denying he was ever going to contest.

That movement morphed into the Obidient Movement. I was 'obidient' (if you'd call it that) even in 2018. I have my comments to prove; and I'm not alone.
I've detailed it on this board almost a year ago.
https://www.nairaland.com/7186774/epl-chatroom-all-discussions/1083#119426641 Click the quoted comments.

If your basis for supporting a candidate is based simply on him being at the receiving end of insults, some of which are factual, GEJ should be Nigeria's lifetime President - he's arguably the most insulted President in the world.
Obi was Atiku's running mate in 2019 and contested for PDP's presidential candidate in 2022...he couldn't compete that's why he quickly jumped ship to Lp

The "yes daddy" issue will beg to differ to your opinion of playing on a leveled field...Obi thought he canvassing all the Christian votes will be enough to win him election.

Like I said I wanted Atiku to win but since Tinubu won despite all the insults from obedients...no problem

Now the problem with such things is , how do we determine 800k is enough sample size for a population size of over 150m ?

Why not 280k ( which is 56k households with an average of 5 persons in each family ) . Maybe the number guys here can enlighten us on what amount of sample size can do justice to this kinda complex/large population

https://nigerianstat.gov.ng/elibrary/read/1241254

You can download the report here.

I've read the entire methodology chapter (chapter 2), and at no point do they attempt to explain how or why they chose that sample size.

All they said is they decided to pick 1500 households per state. Period. Full stop.

Well, OK then... grin grin

I am even surprised that Nigerians living in Nigeria see it as a wicked policy

Until you go to a hospital (Public or private), and they tell you there is no doctor on duty, or you have to wait 5 hours to see one, na that time the person go understand the problem wey dey on board.

It's really crazy these days.

Except in cases of emergency, I only go to hospitals by 5am on Sunday mornings. That's the only time you won't find any serious crowd. I can't go and queue at the hospital for hours wasting productive hours.

How well do you think you can pay them, that will remove their eyes from UK and USA? Be sincere to yourself

Bank EDs that earn well dey japa. People who work in Oil firms and earn good money, dey japa. PWc and KPMG guys that i admire in my Uber days, don full Canada.

So please, how well would you pay a doctor, that will make him denounce going to US and UK?

Let's be very realistic.

Can Tinubu pay £10/hour for a doctor?

Oga japa is not an easy process and alot of people will not japa if you offer them very good compensation.
At the very least you will even delay some to stay back longer before leaving.
People who are undergrads will also be affected and look forward to earning.

Not everyone that is japaing wants to japa and these are the people who these changes will convince to stay.

Why waste 10m to study medicine here when you can japa and go study medicine outside the country? 😂

We are not saying the same thing. Even as cheap as university fees are currently, there are still thousands if not hundred of thousands that can afford it. Scholarship and educational loan will take care of it. That’s why i also included that their remunerations and welfare packages should be prioritized also.

University education is not for everyone. Its a privilege not a right. The only need for litercy is primary education anything beyond that is for the individual to crry

Them suppose flog you and those reps in the 10th assembly.

Private schools will be excluded

If govt subsidized your school fees, then you should pay govt back

The other option is to go private school or travel abroad to pay what your fellow doctors pay

If you study medicine with education loan, them no born your papa well to say you wan japa after your housemanship.

All this nonsense idea of passing bill that will make Medicine graduates practice medicine here in naija for 5 years before getting new license will not see the light of the day If NMA doesn’t buy into it.

NMA just needs to sue the FG up till Supreme Court and the bill will be thrown out .How do u stop people from pursuing their dreams in their chosen career ? I’m sure there’s no section of the constitution that supports such nonsense

That’s my point. I just don’t feel they need to pass a bill to that effect. They just need to restructure our educational system.

Even that unemployment figures, the issue some people were having with NBS was that NBS actually has a very high standard to categorize unemployment. If you don’t work a standard 40hrs a week, to NBS, you are unemployed.

NBS themselves have given the reason for commissioning the report in the abstract

In August 2019, the President of Nigeria committed to empowering an additional 100 million people to escape extreme poverty by 2030

. This means that, on average, 10 million people must be lifted out of poverty each year, starting from 2020. With the adverse impact of COVID-19 on livelihoods, and unemployment, this challenge has become even more important.

It is within this context that the Nigeria MPI (2022) survey was conducted across the 109 senatorial districts, establishing a baseline for the local government area (LGA) survey due in 2023, and future two-yearly national surveys.

Buhari has already picked a number of poor people to empower (I read embezzle funds), so now they have to find a way to justify it.

Well, yes I'm asking you to engage your brain.

You posted a screenshot without reading it when you thought it supported your argument.

Now that I've pointed out that YOUR OWN Resource states that the advice it contains does not apply to National Household surveys, I expect you to accept that you goofed.

If the resource seemed authoritative enough for you to reference, then it shouldn't stop being authoritative when you realise you're illiterate.
You're asking I rely on trust me bro and I disagree.

- I posted a link that showed that you can sample a population of 200K persons with 1K persons. You said according to my link it should be 10% and you stand by that, while at the same time insisting you disagree with the link I shared (that's a clear contradiction).

- I said the percentage of the minimum number of persons you need to sample decreases as the population you're sampling increases. I then include a screenshot of a formula which agrees with your 10% thingy for small populations but that drops significantly as the population increases.

- Oya if you won't agree with the evidence I've provided, why don't we look at what professional stat firms do, you said no...that I should trust you or me...even though neither of us is a professional statistician.

- I then say oya give a number for what would work for a country like Nigeria and tell me how you arrived at that number...graveyard silence.

- Bluerayd1ck references a past conversation with Ibime where he suggested 800K, and now you say 800K is that magic number grin

My point is there's a minimum number that can be used to extrapolate for a country of 200M and based on the evidence I provided, 56K persons is above that number even...if you choose to do 800K, it's fine as well.

I'm not disagreeing with higher numbers being used, but lower numbers can be used as well...you say no, I ask why, you refuse to bring evidence, that I should ignore facts and use my brain, which is another way of saying rely only on trust me bro grin

Or do doctors collect allowances from somewhere else when they are on strike?

A doctor trained in US spends almost $200 to $300K on school fees

Nigerian trained doctors probably spend $1k to get that education because its subsidized by govt

Maybe Govt should tell them Medical fees is say 300K if you cannot afford it, enter and govt will subsidize your fees to normal undergrad fees but after graduation you have to serve govt for 5yrs

If you want to get out of the bond pay the money Govt gave you plus interest

You are stopping them from leaving.. You are not doing anything whatsoever to make employment worth it for them.. At the same time these doctors have consistently voiced their displeasure concerning what they earn.

And they watch politicians japa outside Nigeria to get treatment.

So why you think say doctors nor fit dey house for 3 months.. Offer private services once in awhile and still plan their japa..
