Do Messianic Prophecies Prove That Jesus Was The Messiah? by Jokanem(m): 1:43pm On Apr 15, 2023 |
Do Messianic Prophecies Prove That Jesus Was the Messiah? Yes. While on earth, Jesus fulfilled numerous prophecies about “Messiah the Leader,” the one who would be the “Savior of the world.” (Daniel 9:25; 1 John 4:14) And even after his death, Jesus continued to fulfill Messianic prophecies.—Psalm 110:1; Acts 2:34-36. What is the meaning of “Messiah”? The Hebrew term Ma·shiʹach (Messiah) and the equivalent Greek word Khri·stos (Christ) both mean “Anointed One.” Therefore, “Jesus Christ” means “Jesus the Anointed One,” or “Jesus the Messiah.” In Bible times, a person was often anointed by having oil poured on his head when he was appointed to a special position of authority. (Leviticus 8:12; 1 Samuel 16:13) Jesus was appointed by God to be the Messiah—a position of great authority. (Acts 2:36) However, rather than anointing Jesus with oil, God anointed him with holy spirit.—Matthew 3:16. Could more than one person fulfill the Messianic prophecies? No. Just as a fingerprint identifies just one person, the fulfillment of Bible prophecies points to just one Messiah, or Christ. However, the Bible warns that “false Christs and false prophets will arise and will perform great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones.”—Matthew 24:24. Could the Messiah appear in the future? No. The Bible foretold that the Messiah would be a descendant of King David of Israel. (Psalm 89:3, 4) However, the Jewish ancestral records going back to David have been lost, apparently having been destroyed when the Romans conquered Jerusalem in 70 C.E. a Since that time, it has not been possible for anyone to prove that he is of the royal family of David. In contrast, though those ancestral records did exist in Jesus’ time, not even his enemies successfully challenged his claim of being a descendant of David.—Matthew 22:41-46. How many Messianic prophecies are there in the Bible? It is not possible to specify a definitive number of Messianic prophecies. For example, the method of numbering prophecies can vary even for passages that are clearly Messianic. The passage at Isaiah 53:2-7 mentions several prophetic features regarding the Messiah. Some might count this entire passage as one prophecy, while others might view each feature as a separate prophecy. Some Messianic prophecies fulfilled by Jesus Prophecy followed by Fulfillment Offspring of Abraham Genesis 22:17, 18 Matthew 1:1 Descendant of Abraham’s son Isaac Genesis 17:19 Matthew 1:2 Born of the Israelite tribe of Judah Genesis 49:10 Matthew 1:1, 3 From the royal line of King David Isaiah 9:7 Matthew 1:1 Born of a virgin Isaiah 7:14 Matthew 1:18, 22, 23 Born in Bethlehem Micah 5:2 Matthew 2:1, 5, 6 Called by the name Immanuel b Isaiah 7:14 Matthew 1:21-23 Humble beginning Isaiah 53:2 Luke 2:7 Young children killed after his birth Jeremiah 31:15 Matthew 2:16-18 Called out of Egypt Hosea 11:1 Matthew 2:13-15 Called a Nazarene c Isaiah 11:1 Matthew 2:23 Preceded by a messenger Malachi 3:1 Matthew 11:7-10 Anointed as Messiah in 29 C.E. d Daniel 9:25 Matthew 3:13-17 Acknowledged by God as His Son Psalm 2:7 Acts 13:33, 34 Zealous for God’s house Psalm 69:9 John 2:13-17 Proclaimer of good news Isaiah 61:1 Luke 4:16-21 Public ministry in Galilee a great light Isaiah 9:1, 2 Matthew 4:13-16 A miracle worker like Moses Deuteronomy 18:15 Acts 2:22 Like Moses, he spoke God’s thoughts Deuteronomy 18:18, 19 John 12:49 Cured sicknesses of many Isaiah 53:4 Matthew 8:16, 17 Did not draw attention to himself Isaiah 42:2 Matthew 12:17, 19 Showed compassion for the afflicted Isaiah 42:3 Matthew 12:9-20; Mark 6:34 Revealed God’s justice Isaiah 42:1, 4 Matthew 12:17-20 A Wonderful Counselor Isaiah 9:6, 7 John 6:68 Declared Jehovah’s name Psalm 22:22 John 17:6 Spoke in illustrations Psalm 78:2 Matthew 13:34, 35 A Leader Daniel 9:25 Matthew 23:10 Many did not believe in him Isaiah 53:1 John 12:37, 38 Stone of stumbling Isaiah 8:14, 15 Matthew 21:42-44 Rejected by humans Psalm 118:22, 23 Acts 4:10, 11 Hated without cause Psalm 69:4 John 15:24, 25 Triumphal entry into Jerusalem on a donkey Zechariah 9:9 Matthew 21:4-9 Praised by children Psalm 8:2 Matthew 21:15, 16 Came in Jehovah’s name Psalm 118:26 John 12:12, 13 Betrayed by a trusted associate Psalm 41:9 John 13:18 Betrayed for 30 pieces of silver e Zechariah 11:12, 13 Matthew 26:14-16; 27:3-10 Friends abandoned him Zechariah 13:7 Matthew 26:31, 56 False witnesses testified against him Psalm 35:11 Matthew 26:59-61 Silent before accusers Isaiah 53:7 Matthew 27:12-14 Spat upon Isaiah 50:6 Matthew 26:67; 27:27, 30 Struck on the head Micah 5:1 Mark 15:19 Flogged Isaiah 50:6 John 19:1 Did not resist those who struck him Isaiah 50:6 John 18:22, 23 Government leaders conspired against him Psalm 2:2 Luke 23:10-12 Nailed to a stake through his hands and feet Psalm 22:16 Matthew 27:35; John 20:25 People cast lots (gambled) for his clothing Psalm 22:18 John 19:23, 24 Counted in with sinners Isaiah 53:12 Matthew 27:38 Reviled, insulted Psalm 22:7, 8 Matthew 27:39-43 Suffered for sinners Isaiah 53:5, 6 1 Peter 2:23-25 Seemed forsaken by God Psalm 22:1 Mark 15:34 Given vinegar and gall to drink Psalm 69:21 Matthew 27:34 Thirsty just before death Psalm 22:15 John 19:28, 29 Entrusted spirit to God Psalm 31:5 Luke 23:46 Gave up his life Isaiah 53:12 Mark 15:37 Provided the ransom to remove sin Isaiah 53:12 Matthew 20:28 Bones not broken Psalm 34:20 John 19:31-33, 36 Pierced Zechariah 12:10 John 19:33-35, 37 Buried with the rich Isaiah 53:9 Matthew 27:57-60 Raised from the dead Psalm 16:10 Acts 2:29-31 Betrayer replaced Psalm 109:8 Acts 1:15-20 Seated at God’s right hand Psalm 110:1 Acts 2:34-36 1 Like 2 Shares |

Jokanem:Well articulated. He that would be damned would be damned and he that would be saved would be saved. Church-goers, Atheists, Muslims, Pagans, Worshippers of false gods, Sconers, Cultists, and all those who do not know the Living Jesus; Behold Your Messaih. The One anointed by God to save your soul. |

But you are taught that Jesus is not your Mediator by Watchtower. You also don't acknowledge that he is the means to Salvation as the word Messiah implies. Watchtower teaches you that Salvation is only by following the JW Organisation. In other words, your organisation has replaced Jesus which is a warning given by the same Jesus to beware of people who would do so. You also barely mention Jesus. Recently, a speaker in a Morning Worship video in your website says that the Voice of your Freemason Governing body is the voice of Jesus and submitting to them means submitting to Jesus. In other words, Governing Body = Jesus. So, make that make sense. 1 Like

Is it right to equate yourself with the one and only Messiah, Jesus? Is that not the definition of an Antichrist? Why is it that in your religion you are taught that Salvation can only gotten through your organisation and not through Jesus as the Messiah? Why are you taught that in order to gain Salvation you must be close to the 144,000 rather than being close to Jesus? 1 Like |

FxMasterz: They do have such doctrines. Jesus is only a mediator for the 144,000 "anointed Christians" and not for the rank and file Jehovah's Witness like Jokanem and MaxInDHouse. As evidence, here are some quotes from their own publications: "So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the "mediator" only for anointed Christians." Watchtower 1979 Apr 1 p.31 "Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members." Worldwide Security Under the "Prince of Peace" (1986) pp.10-11 "The "great crowd" of "other sheep" that is forming today is not in that new covenant. However, by their associating with the "little flock" of those yet in that covenant they come under benefits that flow from that new covenant." Watchtower 1979 Apr 1 p.31 "He(Jesus) mediates the new covenant between God and those taken into the new covenant, the congregation of spiritual Israel. The total number of those who are finally and permanently sealed is revealed in Revelation 7:4-8 as 144,000." Insight on the Scriptures, Volume 2 p.362 Mediator As you can see, Courz was not lying at all. 2 Likes |

FxMasterz: Do you see the way that Mad Max replied you telling you to ignore my Lies? He actually called the doctrine a Lie. He said that because he is ashamed of his doctrines. He knows that what Watchtower teaches him is Bullshit. So he told you that I misunderstood their doctrine whereas If you go to their website jw. org, you will see this outrageous doctrine there. Mad Max is doing what Watchtower trains them to do, that is Lying. JWs have many outrageous doctrines that are not Christian. And in their hearts, they are ashamed of them. So, they select what they preach about outside. They will not tell you these strange doctrines. They will keep it away from you and not be honest with you so that you won't run away since Watchtower is desperate for members. They lose so many members every year. It is until you have gotten baptised into their Cult you will start to hear many strange doctrines and rules. By then, it would be too late for you. You will now be expected to follow all their Man made rules including doctrines that are not in the Bible and you can't question anything. You must be a Robot willing to obey. You can't leave because if you do, you will lose your friends and family who are in Cult as they will be ordered by Watchtower to stay away from You. It is when you don't have friends and family in the Cult that will make your leaving the Cult easier. You will be called Satan's Child. They will say you have turned your back on God for leaving and for that God will destroy you. Is that not a Cult? If you still think I am lying about this strange doctrine, just go to their website, type Jesus Mediator in the search bar then read the articles you see there. This Cult thrives on Lies and withholding information and forces their members with fear and Manipulation to accept these lies else they will be destroyed by God at Armaggedon. 2 Likes

FxMasterz: According to God's word the Messiah is coming to gather the Jews in other to prepare them for a global campaign about God's Kingdom {Psalms 110:3} that is why Jesus sent his disciples only to the Jews {Matthew 10:6} he must first gather his co-rulers whose number is limited among the Jews {Matthew 19:28} note that his twelve apostles were mainly Jews yet he said they will judge the twelve tribes of Israel. So the limited number (144,000) will be chosen only among the Jews because the other ten tribes of Israel has abandoned God's covenant long before the coming of Christ, Jeroboam their king dismissed the Levites serving as priests in all those cities and they all returned to Judah! 2Chronicles 11:13-14 That's why God promised that it's only among the Jews that the co-rulers of Christ will be chosen and they will be the group through which all other nations of the earth will be blessed {Zechariah 8:23} but before then that wasn't God's promise the co-rulers of Christ supposed to be selected from all the twelve tribes of Israel. Now after Christ began his earthly ministry the majority among the Jews also rejected him and it became difficult for the Christ to get the number needed among the Jews so he told them that God will pick co-rulers for the Christ from different races throughout the earth! Matthew 8:11-12 He even used an illustration to emphasize this! Matthew 22:1-14 So instead of chosing co-rulers for Christ only among Israelites or Jews God decided to choose anyone who embrace Christ in any part of the earth! John 1:11-12 This limited number is 144,000 they are the ones Jesus was referring to when he said: “Have no fear, little flock, for your Father has approved of giving you the Kingdom" Luke 12:32 They are the ones having a direct dealing with the Christ not everyone who wish to {Matthew 22:11-13} their invitation was prepared by God Himself not even Jesus! Matthew 20:20-23 This is the truth about salvation, the 144,000 started with the 12 surviving apostles of Jesus who made it to the day of pentecost that's why Revelations said they are the foundation of God's Kingdom in heaven! Revelations 21:14 So Jesus Christ foretold that whatever this little group bind on earth has also been bound in heaven and whatever they loosen on earth has also been loosened in heaven! Matthew 16:19 All others who will gain everlasting life are like the second group of sheep belonging to Jesus {John 10:16} but they must STRICTLY OBEY the first group of 144,000 if they're going to be saved! Hebrews 13:17 But whether you're among the limited number of little flock {Revelations 7:5-8} or the great crowd {Revelations 7:14} it is Christ's ransom sacrifice that opened the way for your salvation! Matthew 20:28 compare to John 3:16 That's what the antagonists are misconstruing! |

FxMasterz: Good. You noticed his tactics. If you watch Mad Max very well, he is still a Muslim. He uses Muslim mindset to explain JW doctrines. Watchtower loves to lie and teach JWs how to do so as well. They are not aware of it until they wake up from the Cult. So, if you need to discuss with a JW, be very prepared and knowledgeable. Once you do that, no matter how many times they twist words for you to confuse you, you can easily destroy their doctrines before their very eyes. They are usually scared of people who drill them with heavy questions that prove the absurdity of their doctrines. And their own Publication is their enemy. 2 Likes |

Re: Do Messianic Prophecies Prove That Jesus Was The Messiah? by MaxInDHouse(m): 10:26pm On Apr 16, 2023 |
SeniorMan715:Highlighted is the correct answer the only little addition is how God's Holy Spirit works. God always promise His people because they are ever worried about the coming generation of faithful people how such ones will identify those practicing pure worship in the presence of Satan and his agents who are everywhere to create confusion and mislead many. God often tell us what His spirit will make possible as sign to IDENTIFY those in the faith. So if anyone claims he is of faith but deny the activities of God's Holy Spirit in the gathering of imperfect humans yet he's unable to present a practical application that could serve as the works of God's Holy Spirit to nullify others then such individuals are blaspheming God's Holy Spirit as they can't present any other better performing group of imperfect humans in whose midst God's Holy Spirit is working! 1 Like |
