Hello house

Please advise on what to do. I applied for study permit sometimes last year, and was meant to resume latest January this year.. but then my ppr just came out last month. And I'm looking to change university and the area. Should I do that while still here in Nigeria won't it affect my Visa or when I get there?
Do not try to change institution while in Nigeria. If you try it, you will reapply for visa. When you get to Canada, you can change your mind grin

When you get to Montreal, you can take a flight (if you plan to). Otherwise, you can use a train/bus (Greyhound or MegaBus to Toronto). I recommend Mega Bus (they're kinda fast). You may book it in advance. Feel free to send a DM. If I'm available on your landing day, I can pick you (for FREE) from Airport and take you to the Toronto bus station.

Please can u reach me on my email for arrangements on arewa963@gmail.com

Safe Journey

Please what is the best way to show "ties to homeland". I don't have any landed properties in my name, just a car. And I currently do not have a job. How do I best show that I'll come back to Nigeria after my study.

You can use your car, family as home tie

Your parents can gift you a landed property.
You can swear an affidavit of return.
In most tribes, first born sons are in line to inherit the properties of their parents. You could use that.
You can claim to have a pet.
You can claim you're the one solely responsible for running errands for your parents

Your wife do not need to write a separate SOP. One very detailed one is fine. SOWP is the way to go for whoever is "not" the principal applicant. The kids get a Visit visa. Whoever have more documents to show especially financials is advised to be the principal applicant ( you I'd suppose). However, if you wife submits a SOP as well, it dosent hurt anything.

The above is on the assumption that you are applying together. If separately then she must submit a separate SOP.
Not quite sure about the gift deed part. One way wil be to include in your SOP that you both will finance the trip. That way the gift deed counts for both of you.

You didnt ask this but if you need it: If finance is an issue. Apply alone and your wife and kids are automatically strong family ties to 9ja. When in, apply for SOWP for them. Sure die!!

Your family is your best bet. Your car and pet ARE NOT home ties. The VOs are not mumus na

Aside from solid financials and assets, you can use a good job to demonstrate ties back home. You can effectively show this by supporting your application with a leave of absence. You can also submit a written letter requesting a leave of absence. If you are self-employed, your business is another reason to return after your studies. You should state who takes over the management of the business to oversee its operations in your absence till you return to take over.

Family members, including parents and siblings, are forms of home ties. Discuss how family values hold great importance to you and how they rely on you for emotional support and vice versa. Also, discuss the activities of any organization or clubs you belong to and your roles. I am sure you can build on these and other points others have proffered.

I am also in this situation. I don't have any property in my name but my dad has. As the first son, how do I coin it to show home times. Can you help with 2 or 3 lines on how to add that to my SOP.
Currently I already added that as first son I am managing the properties and I have shown evidence by showing rental increment, repair notice all issued by me to tenants. Don't know if this is enough.

If in dollar, with card or in the bank?

Thanks.

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by horlabeesie: 10:20pm On Apr 17, 2023
Hello everyone, please I want to clarify something. I plan to apply for a family of 3.

My husband sold a part of his land to come up with 80% of our POF. My mum gifted me 10% and 10% is from me. When he sold the land, the payment was made directly into my bank account (I hear this is where we made a big mistake).

My husband and I are gainfully employed, and will present all our employment details, pension, pay slips and any other necessary document. My husband also has a small business he runs on the side.

We plan to present 3 bank statements which are both of our salary bank statements to show proof of employment, and the account we intend to use for POF, which is also my personal account.

Now, this is my question, is it better to say I am self sponsored but with support from my husband, backed by a letter of support, as my husband’s account balance won’t show huge final balance in it? Or is it better to say he is my sponsor since 80% of the funds came from selling part of his asset?

Please I’ll appreciate any advise I can get as to how to better present this to the VO.
