Ask yourself why then are the Awori still the Land owners of Lagos Island and the Oba of Lagos on the same Island doesn’t own the land and the Land on which his Palace was built was a gift From Aromire the Son of Olofin whose descendants still own a huge part of Lagos Island Land

it is not up to them, this is what history says meanwhile the same inconsequential Oba of lagos that supposedly did not control any land by your arajugbo history(which you usually never have any material to back up) ceded lagos to the British in 1861. How ironic, how clannish of a people to have watched a king that did not control any land to have ceded lagos to the British in @1861

Your brazen denial of the Oba of lagos strength in lagos history has no place anywhere in historical analysis. It was this stool, the Oba of lagos not the Olofin, not the Oloto that ceded lagos to the British in 1861. An inconsequential king cannot do that we can see your argument has a place in delusion and self denial. Unarguably, going by lagos history and politics, the Oba of lagos seem to have been the numero uno among kings in lagos state

Going by our account, he was a son of Oba Orhogbua

Oba of Lagos only influence is between Idumota and Obalende Markets on Lagos Island

he doesn’t even control Ikoyi on the same Lagos Island

He is the Head of a District in Aworiland

Oba Ado was the Son Asipa had with a Benin Princess

Oba Ado was an Isheri Man With an Benin Princess mother

There is a very big difference between having an Oba of Benin as your Maternal Grandfather

and being the son of the Oba of Benin

Oba Ado was Awori from Isheri Olofin his mum being a Benin Princess didn’t change that fact

you have any material, eye witness accounts preferably that corroborate your partitioning ?

Why was it the Oba of Lagos that ceded Lagos to the British in 1861

Badagry and Whydah were under the Alaafin of Oyo
especially after Benin began its decline in the 17th Century
Benin May have had some Influence before 1730 but not afterwards or at least definitely not in the 18th Century
How many kings did Benin install there absolutely none
Hope you know the Alaafin of Oyo is still the Sovereign overlord of the Oba of Porto Novo

This is what I wanted you to see now

According to Edo traditions, Lagos itself was founded by a Benin army, and Oba Orhogbua is said to have made it his headquarters about the middle of the sixteenth century. His son left there to rule on his behalf is claimed to have been the founder of the Lagos ruling dynasty, and this is confirmed to some extent by Lagos traditions

I will like to politely remind you that Lagos is Yorubaland

I am repeating myself telling you there is a basis for it, it did not start today and it is not what we can wish away, it is something to count on. Sir Alan burn certainly consulted Lagos tradition for his write up while Bradbury consulted Edo traditions

I know Lagos is Yoruba land, but when it concerns Lagos and Other tribes as it involves her affairs, there tend to be biases on one side especially when the historical narrative is coming from the indigenes of Yoruba land herself

There are Histories that only the People themselves can confirm because others were not there

Can any white man confirm what happened in Yorubaland or Nigeria 2000 years ago

To be honest with you the White man doesn’t even have any Clue but our own People do

For example we hear that Ile Ife was already existing in 300 BC because Oduduwa met the 77th Igbo king at Ife

The white man heard the Story from the Natives did escavations around the Palace and found Artefacts carbon dated to 300 BC

Confirming what the Black Ife Natives told him

Let me agree for the sake of argument, Oyo only became an empire in 1680, before then, who was Ikoyi under?

Land grabbers in their wild imagination will never give up. The presentation made to the Privy Council as far back as 1921, was clear.

About 1790 Lagos was successfully invaded by the neighboring Benins. They did not remain in occupation but left a representative as ruler whose title was the Eleko.

The only connection Bini Oba, a Yoruba dynasty that overthrew the wicked Ogiso had with Eko, was giving his daughter to Ashipa the First King of Eko. Some called him Eleko, others called him Olofin. Whatever you called Ashipa, he was the truce King of Lagos that married the daughter of another Yoruba king that conquered Bini after brutal Ogiso King killed a pregnant woman and others like the Urhobo, Itshekiri, Onitcha etc ran away despite the wall to keep them in

The rhetorical question about Oyo Empire means that some people think Oyo only come into existence during the Empire.

Oyo was the same as Yoruba, Anago, Olukumi etc found along West Africa and Americas with different names.

How can anyone ask for proof that Oyo or Yoruba occupy Eko, their land before anyone else?

What a question.

occupation in military warfare is keeping your army Down to ensure obedience, so that is supposed to be clear enough,

The Oba of Lagos according to our tradition was the direct son of Oba Orhogbua who went to take charge of Lagos as a representative in the Oba’s stead

What is the proof that that part was ever part of the Oyo kingdom because googi said it I should take it as fact! what is the proof that Oyo even when it was a mere kingdom ever extended to that part

even your own article already had variants of history of where the title Onikoyi came from.

When did the Onikoyi title start?

Do you have any proof that it was independent of the Oba of Lagos up till the time of the Oyo empire or he was just another sub chief who was under the Oba of lagos

You do not post all your materials on time, if it is a tactic I don’t know. Someone must have responded before you post the others.

I have read your work, the Onikoyi was certainly an Idejo. One of the Sixteen white cap subordinate chiefs to the Oba of Lagos.

Imoba is as Ancient as the Awori Tribe itself

Imoba was where the first king of Ilesa went to fetch Water to Cure Oduduwa’s blindness when he was Old

That is why Oba Ilesa is titled as Owa Obokun

Obokun means he who fetches Sea Water

Onikoyi is the Oba Of Ikoyi and Imoba in Lagos

and a White Cap Chief at Isale Eko because he owns land in Obalende

a white cap chief is subordinate to the Oba of Lagos

According to the Benin law,the king is the sovereign owner of land, and as the territory was conquered by the Binis, it follows that during the conquest the king of Benin was the real owner, the control exercised by the chiefs under the Eleko or representative being exercised as part of the machinery of government and not in virtue of ownership. It might be for a considerable period prior to 1850, the control of the king of Benin had been been relaxed until it became little more than a formal and norminal overlordship, and that in this period, there had been a tendency on the part of the minor chiefs to arrogate to themselves powers to which constitutionally they had no claim. Including independent powers of control and management. There is a possibility of this, this is a point of view of the argument on who own Lagos

Onikoyi is an Oba in his own Right

In the Eyes of Yorubas he is higher than Oba of Lagos because he has an Ife Crown

It is like calling the Olowu one of the highest Yoruba kings a Subject of the Alake of Egbaland because the Owu live at Abeokuta

Moba and Ikoyi
has never been under the Oba of Lagos please don’t make that Mistake

For Example the Queen of England was also a Legitimate German Duchess at the same time she was Queen of England

Moba is too Ancient to have any Business with Oba of Lagos

You are going back to the Oduduwa Period when the Princes were sent out
