No, we don't have the money to build a city worth 100bn dollars.

Nigeria doesn't have the money, we already use our entire budget to service the debt our chinese masters borrowed us.
What do you mean by "We don't have money?" Do you think these towering skyscrapers and highrises belong to the govt over there? They belong to banks and other corporations. What the govt does is to enforce strict city planning in such a way that only skyscrapers are allowed in certain districts and they're aligned in very beautiful ways. Our problem is that our town planning officials are not doing their works, that's why we see jaga jaga building arrangements even in very high-brow districts in Abuja and Lagos.

The actual cost significantly depends on building transport infrastructure including roads, railway lines and underground metro systems (subways). Skyscrapers or high rise buildings do not cost that much unless the clients are more interested in luxury. Building a few skyscrapers (30 and above) can make cities look like these from above (drone shots). However, if the road infrastructure are poor, the street view may not be appealing. Examples include cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Napoli, Luanda, Johannesburg, some parts of Manila and so on. Besides, quality of life is much more relevant than having skyscrapers everywhere (I can’t live in one). Imagine climbing up and going down using busy lifts just to go to work or anywhere each and every day. Skyscrapers become a necessity when there is insufficient land and the population is very high like in China and most Asian countries. This is why most people consider Dubai a fake city cuz the amount of buildings do not correspond to the very low population density. Though having some skyscrapers in the the downtowns (North America) or city centres/business districts (Europe) make them look modern, they are only necessary when the population is very high or growing exponentially (China for instance).
Below are pictures from Napoli in Italy and the city has a mini skyline. This can easily be replicated anywhere in Nigeria provided that the governor in that area is serious minded.

Cities like this were not built in a day

This takes decades of careful planning and investment.

Cities like this doesn't take decades to build anymore, find out about Hong Kong, Seoul and China.

It only takes committed leaders and citizenry to do it.

Yes they are. Their annual budget is 130 billion dollars for 70 million people.

Nigeria's is 50 billion dollars for 220 million people.

The oil and gas revenue might have been somewhat sufficient 20 years ago.

Today, it's a pittance cos of our population growth.

We need further diversification and better taxing systems to generate more revenue for development.

Is it d the tax that one person will go there and embezzle undecided . Nigeria can never be fixed sorry to say. No be swear or anything, just dat it is what it is.

To answer your question,
if Nigeria continues on its current path - NEVER!
If Nigeria changes course and continues on the new path with corruption decreasing yearly until it gets to like 20% (it is at 98% now). then in about 200 years time.

Nigerians worry about the dumbest things based on imagery and not things that actually matter in the scheme of things.

Skyscrapers aren’t “modern’ and they’re mostly for cities that don’t have enough land. Most of the skyscrapers in Chicago and New York City were built in the late 19th century and early 20th century. There are tons of videos of New York City and Chicago in 1910 and the skyline of those cities look almost exactly as it’s today. Most European cities don’t have skyscrapers and they’re more beautiful than these skyscraper cities.

Most of you ought to be more worried about quality education, social amenities, basic infrastructure, job creation, quality of life, etc., than lousy skyline with skyscrapers when the average person can’t afford basic things.

Even Chicago with all its skyscrapers, as the first city with skyscrapers, is one of the worst cities in the world once you leave downtown Chicago. There’s no city with drug addicts, gun toting kids and extreme poverty in the Western Hemisphere like Chicago.

Nigerians are too obsessed with US but most lack the requisite knowledge/education to understand that the US isn’t a country you can emulate in building a nation. It’s a very flawed country that only thrives due to the power of the dollar - not its institutions.

When we see a good leader, with vision, less corrupt and not tribalistic, we will collectively vote.

For now, there is nothing close to a good leader, so I do not know the leader that u feel wants to stand for the people that went to war.
I don't trust your mental ability to recognise a good leader. Make you dey play, dey wait for that saint wey your spirit go bear witness, maybe like john the baptist did with Jesus.

Since 1985. And they continue building. As fine as Dubai is, it doesn’t have good sewage system. Na agbego (onye buru) dey go suck pooo every morning. UAE is still a work-in-progress.

We can, but the looters we call our leaders would rather use the money for their own benefit than to advance the economy of our nation.

Bros no vex, just try to understand the emotions of those people. They want a better Country just like me and you. Once we have the right person in power, every other thing falls in place. First of all we need to erode corruption from the system, uphold Accountability, and the Rule of law. Obi may not be the messiah but people after him and those in the process will change this country for good. You need to see this country is hijacked.
Anything Obidents have done against you I plead on their behalf.
My problem was never Obi, Tinubu or Atiku, as far as I am concerned, they are all equally corrupt.
My problem is the supporters that will insult me when I criticize a candidate.
It is my democratic rights to criticize.
No be only Obidients deh attack but their own too much

Absolutely correct. If we continue allowing leaders without vision to rule, the standard of the country will remain like this in 100years from now. Things like these are planned and deliberate
