Munachimso30:I am not frustrated and my online business as a forex trader is okay for me but I want conducive environment so that I can feel happy for my life. I don't want to live in Europe, American or Asia but I prefer to live in west Africa because of they have all the basic amenities I suppose to have in Nigeria but I was denied it without a good reason. If I live in west Africa where I have access to light, pipe borne water, security and effective laws then why should I complain. Please is my life I want to enjoy it in fullness not managing . Everything about Nigeria is managing which not suppose to be. 5 Likes |

[quote author=BJanta post=121789741]You're a liar .it's so difficult to make it in Benin unless you're involved in smuggling. Most of them bring their goods and ware to sell in Nigeria. Go to Seme, go to Idiroko border. Go to Golo ,behind Idiroko border. Then you DON'T mess up with their nationals. Once you do they gather up to beat you up. It has happened to me some time before. As I was walking down the road in one of their dry ports , and Okadaman just carelessly rode along and splashed muddy water on my clothes. I was livid with anger, and as I charged to attack him, my friends who were with me shouted " Haaaaaaa' ,and pulled me back. They said if touched him , showing me other Beninois around, they would all pounce and strt to beat. The neither ran away nor apologised. And all the other young men had their eye fixed on me, waiting for what I would do. I'd lived in a border town before and used to go to not only Cotonou, but so many other towns in Benin , like Baningbe , Port Novo , Sakete ,Pobe , Mowo |

For all you 419 thinking relocating to Cotonou would be nice because big steady light. Just stay in Nigeria o. Don't go and add to our dented image. If you are caught in Benin, you might live the rest of your life in their jail. They are not corrupt like Naija security agents. 4 Likes |

Thats it,with zero natural resources and they have made great improvements. From city to the North, if you see the roads they have constructed, you would pack your load and leave nigeria. They are not has rich as nigeria but, they are comfortable. Its good for family man. He can work in lagos and leave his family in cotonou. Good school for the kids.By boat to cms lagos it's only two hrs journey 1 Like |

Cotonou sucks, I think it's a very boring place and there are much nicer places in benin than that. Porto novo is way better although it's small and less international, the people in porto novo are much friendier too. It's just the buziest, dirtiest, most polluted and fastest growing city but it has zero character and people go there just for work. The economy is oversaturated with nigerians moving in to offer all the same old services so there's no money to be made in any usual, basic business so if anybody comes here to hustle don't expect to make a single naira more with your business over here than you would in nigeria. In cotonou this is a big issue because if there's one customer wanting to repair their phone or buy a pair of shoes, there's ten nigerians pushing their services so at the end nobody makes good profit unles they can offer a unique service that has no competition. Benin is not a hidden gem, most nigerians are not doing well here. It's still a nice country but it's nothing special. Cotonou is overrated, benin is underrated. 5 Likes |

Valentineboy1:It's good to have an international passport but not mandatory. I have been researching the best transport mode too because of number of check points between Lagos and Cotonou by road where travellers are extorted. I found this informative video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUpAnxjmoVI detailing alternative routes with cheaper travel cost. Crazy extortion happening at our borders. You might find it pretty helpful. |

Hello guys, I recently heard about Cotonou and I'm eager to go for a mini vacation there in July. My budget is not much, say 50k. I would like to know: If it's possible to get a shortlet (not hotel o) for like 3 nights and what it might likely cost me and my partner? If it will be relatively cheaper to cook our meals from foodstuffs bought at the market? If there is a way to not use my Nigerian passport at the border? I'm open to suggestions on all the listed for that budget (no insults please). Coming from Lagos. Thank you in advance. |
