1. Spiders don't have “ideas" only instincts & behaviors.

#2 Via of an evolutionary pathway that, at best, arachnid evolutionary biologists can only surmise.

Most likely an excellent example of Speciation via Mutation, Environmental or Ecosystem Changes, Radiation, Survival of the Fittest &/or Punctuated Equilibrium. (Take a class in, or read some books about Evolutionary Biology).

No matter what, ancestral spiders, particularly one with a mutation that could do some very rudimentary sort of this behavior, better survived for some reason, to reproduce, likely better, birthing yet more, and more, more survivable offspring.

Or, that one spider’s mutation was benign, no true change to its survivabily to birth progeny, so its mutation, by pure chance, simply spread throughout some the species via it’s offsping.

Then, sometime later, new environmental or ecosystemic pressures made the bubble making subset survive better to reproduce.

Or some natural phenomenon split the species in two (or more) geographically, with very different environmental or ecosystemic pressures on each, one in which the basic bubble making behavior was truly adventageous.

Either way, eventually most, or all of the basic species, or geographically isolated subspecies, did that basic thing, or the species split (radiated) into two species, with one doing it, the other not.

Then later generations of the basic bubble maker spider populations, that had acquired yet further mutation(s) the same way from single individuals, that allowed many to do a slightly better bubble thing even better, then better survived in some manner, to then do even more better bubbles, to then more better survive, etc. etc. etc. and so on and so forth.

In the same way that branches grow on trees. Just because the branch split into two others, or because it grew offshoots, does not mean the branch dies. That only means there are more branches. Our very veins work the same way: look at your wrist. Do you see the veins, the arteries? They branch off. They still exist, there are simply more of them as they continue onwards towards their eventual destination. The three chambered heart did not necessarily evolve ‘into’ the four-chambered heart so much as the four-chambered heart evolved from its predecessor.
