I went to an FRSC office today and they had no idea what driver's extract was. Until I told them it was meant to be used abroad then they told me to do the international driving license.

Should I go ahead with the international driving license?

It's mostly called driving record/history.
International driver's license is useless in Canada.

We are in the UK been here since 2021. But I have continous urge to go to Canada. With this new Nova Scotia Nursing Board Registration, I am thinking of using this to come in. But I have fears.
Will Canada be better than the UK for us.
My wife is a Nurse and I am a Business Analyst.
In fours time we will get our ILR aka PR at a fee of £10k.
From my research and understanding, assuming we enter Canada this year with work permit, we will be getting PR earlier at $1400 Canadian Dollars.

I need someone to help with information on life in Nova Scotia. I will really appreciate facts on cost of rent for a 3-4 bedroom flat/house.
Schooling for children and Family values.
Tax and bills.

Both myself and wife gets taxed 40% and when we return home with the 60%, we will pay Local Government tax aka Council tax. Then after 5years of this taxing I will have to pay £10,000 for ILR aka PR na this one dey vex me pass.

the Chinese are rich and have money to buy those franchise. The Indians come together to buy the franchises like gas station and fast food. Unfortunately we are a one man mopol. We don’t really trust each other or some have had bad experiences. 3 Indian families can stay in one house so that they can acquire it faster and use the equity to buy other houses. Ordinary mother in law or sibling of the other spouse comes to visit some Nigerians are always irritated and want them gone asap 🤣🤣

Nigerians are still very far from coming together to achieve a goal. Ordinary purchase/ shipping of vehicles and parts from calagry to naija.. some 9ja ppl dy hide the infos of where to get them very cheap.

I met an Indian neurologist, he imports Mangos to Canada..Doctor wy dy import mango...he belongs to a group and they have been doing this together for 15years.

I wish our people can just come together for a reasonable goal. They can gather for parties, gossips, drinking e.t.c Nothing positive

Getting your papers will certainly be faster and cheaper than in the UK but only you can decide what really is the best for you considering your unique situation. Taxation varies by province but the least tax in Canada is around 22 to 25%, if you have children however, you will get freebies in the guise of Child-Care Benefits from both the Federal Government and Provincial Government to alleviate the tax pinch on your finances. There are tonnes of Government-sponsored programs to get you integrated into Canadian society and land a good job, you just need to dedicated and discipline. It is almost guaranteed that you if you come into Canada as a PR, you will get your Citizenship in 3years.

I have no first-hand experience with living in Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, PEI, Nunavut etc) except that they are smaller provinces compared to Mainland Canada (Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, BC & Sask) and they sometimes have tax incentives over mainland Canada. In all, if you don't mind the weather, you can not go wrong with immigrating to Canada, other things being equal.

I lived in UK for couple of years....Personally, I prefer Canada. The more I see the crown spending that TAX+NI the angrier I get..lol.

I miss the UK.. clubs, relationships, friends, girls, clubs

I lived in Birmingham, now residing in Calgary, no doubt you can never compare the lifestyle. If I were you I will plan my escape now.

Vex ?You make life decisions based on emotions.
Do you think you will like living in Canada . Will your family like it.
I suggest you go to visit during winter for like a week or two.
If you can get residency in both countries it is good,always better to have options.
Just remember a Hunter who pursued two animals at once might end up catching none.

I have no experience with any of the two countries above.Will be moving to Calgary in a few weeks time,having lived in China for 7yrs( great place,just not having favourable laws for longterm stay and lack of some freedoms).I think your choice of movement should weigh far above the PR fees.Because in the grand scheme of things,the PR fees are negligible compared to the longterm benefits you will get regardless which country you choose.So you need to weigh the pros and cons of both the UK and Canada, and thoroughly go through these with your wife.
There are already generalities between both countries that we all know.You have to dig deeper before deciding.

Change your naira to Usd when u arrive you can easily change the Usd to Canadian dollars because inflation in Nigeria seems to be driving up the Usd
