I hope Ten Hang or any other United staff watched this match? The two CB will definitely do a better job than Maguire. No cap...

One thing I don't like about Ugbade is his decision to always take only the first eleven to tourney. He made just 2 subs today FFS...are there no other good players?
He did the same thing during the WAFU B

Yahaya Danjuma Lawali. #2

This lad isn't just Rolls Royce. He is a right wing machine. Although needs to work on his cutbacks in the final third. We could have scored more than 1 if he got a few right.

In the end, a Baller, this one.

The gap in quality and Chemistry between the Midfield we paraded at the Wafu B Qualifiers and the midfield at this Afcon is obvious.

Ebube Okere, Raphael Oyebanjo, Basil Mbata/Ozor Okeke definitely showed more grit, control, tactical discipline and decisive verticality compared to Tochukwu Ogbabido, Hope Linus and Usman Owoyemi.

But then we can excuse the quality gap due to the MRI situation that decimated our first choice midfield from the Wafu B.
Ugbade literally had to assemble a new midfield structure. He's done okay but improvements can still be made especially with the other MF talents we paraded on the bench in Simon Cletus, Ifeoluwa Olowoporoku, Umar Abubakar and co.

Among the 3 midfielders, Hope Yusuf Linus, #12 impressed the most. His turns on the ball to escape pressure, his press resistance, his tackles, his passing, his calm and strength in duels. Lad really impressed.

Ogbabido, #18 did okay but fizzled away somewhat as the game wore on.

Usman Owoyemi showed his industry but nothing much beyond that. He did have a cracking at goal in the first half.

Nduka Ugbade has to look at the quality of each midfielder brought to this Afcon and really bring in that player that can be some kind of "Ebube Okere" for us at this Afcon and I suspect Olowoporoku, Cletus or one of the others benched for today can offer something better to what Ogbabido showed overall.

We need more vertical creative drive through the middle. That quickness of thought in transition through Central spaces in sync with the wing channels.

Ugbade has more work ahead of the Morocco game.

Lawali was brilliant and has insane stamina. He is also tactically astute. His decision making in the final third needs lots of work. If he can refine that, he can make a huge impact.

What is the name of the right back. His defending is good but I found his ball playing wanting.

Our defenders are really good with the ball and I must comment. Odoh is unbelievably good. Very sharp goalkeeper and in full control of the 18 yard box. His clearances are good and has a good long throw.

Found him interesting.

@Emboldened... Yahaya Lawali is the right back of the team.

Do you mean to ask about the left back?

And yes, the CBs too were just sweet on the eyes. Damn, their ball playing combined with their physicality in duels make them a joy to behold. True mix of brains and brawns. Just the way I want them in the Super Eagles.

Richard Odoh's showing came as no surprise to me. He showed me enough at Wafu B. He has only gotten better.

From today's game, I agree. He was better at the Wafu B though. Let's hope he steps up in the next game vs Morocco.

Currently seeing Morocco play SA.

Morocco leads 1-0. A penalty caused by SA captain's handball.

The Moroccan Captain, Abdelhamid Boudlal, showed no mercy. Shows how to hammer a penalty past a GK.

Morocco gifted a second. SA GK, Jansen clashes with one of his defenders in the box. Poor communication and the Moroccan #9, Hanni capitalises to make it 2-0.

We play Morocco on Wednesday.

Mhen , I just saw a video of Gift Orban with a boy of about 5 years old, which he had captioned as his son. If that was really his son , then it means he had him at 15 years. I will not say anything

SA's dangerman is #20 Siyabonga Mabena of Mamelodi Sundowns. Good on the ball, fine two footedness, composed player and quite fast but there is only so much one player can do.

He was top scorer in the Cosafa Qualifiers with 9 goals. The Highest across all the qualifiers for the U17 Afcon.
