Its alright to criminalise mob action or what we know as jungle justice....however,have we asked or investigated about genesis of mob action or what led to it in Nigeria? One of the apparent reason is due to the complete breakdown of trust for the security operatives by the citizens! The inaction of the security operatives to properly do their jobs effectively has led to citizens seeking self help just to protect them selves! If you catch an armed robber or a cultist or kidnapper and as a law abiding citizen, you hand them to the police,in 24 hours that criminal will be released by 'powers from above' and they will start looking for those who handed them over to the police! Most times,it gets fatal! Hence,as there is a bill to criminalise jungle justice, there must always be a bill to ensure that policing becomes state and local based which we all refer to as state and LGA policing! This will ensure that policing is decentralized and states/LGAs will be in control of their own security! 2 Likes |

Igbos always putting laws that will backfire them later. From zik written off peaceful seperation.. To ironsi made a degree for death sentence whoever try to split... To Nwabueze drafting constitution to kick against referendum. To ironsi again turning federation to unitary system.. Now, to this one drafting a constitution to penalized protesting....and this will only affect his own igbo people in nearest future just as what the pasts ones did that is affecting them today. maybe igbo policians need proper education. |

I would like to call the attention of the Obidients who are in the habit of castigating IPOB and making fun of our sit-at-home orders and remind you that the New Nigeria you are seeking has gotten Newer. In case you are NOT aware, your New Nigeria has just banned you from protesting should your so-called stolen mandate is NOT returned. I know most of you had been planning how you would hit the streets in protest should the election tribunal fails to nullify Tiefnubu's selection victory as was surreptitiously declared by INEC. I do NOT see how you would accomplish your planned protests with the passage of this bill criminalizing protests without getting shot down in the streets like dogs by the Nigerian military and the police. I guess you guys might employ like the IPOB the sit-at-home tactics that you so derided and mocked. To all of you Obidients, I say, Welcome to your "One New Nigeria." |

bentenny:Agreed - the temptation to resort to lynching would be nowhere as strong if the country had effective, accountable local policing. Any bill of this sort can only be an ineffective attempt to treat the symptom rather than the disease, as it will do nothing to change the failed policing at the root of the problem. 2 Likes |

The difference between PDP and APC is now very clear to everyone unfortunate to find themselves within the iron cage called 'Nigeria' The mistake was already made since 2015, now it's too late to stop APC and the gloomy days it has brought in its wake. Nigerians are in for it. I can only hopelessly hope that we won't see another episode of shameless 'converted wailers' when things turn contrary to their expectations just like former 'Sai Baba' crooners later mocked their supposed messiah. |
