Thastie: He should be more worried about losing his wife/family assuming he still wants to be married. Can't these issues be resolved? - counselling if needed. With a bit of effort many women can be wooed/won back, if the issues are not abuse related (physical, verbal, emotional, financial, sexual etc ) 1 Like |

lightnlife: Lol I was shocked at how long it took for the results of the Nigerian GE to be finalised. It took like a week? Usually we know the winner of the UK elections from the exit polls as soon as voting finishes at 10pm! 😂 |

His visa will be revoked and he will be given about 2 months to switch to another visa or leave the UK. He's at risk of incarceration and deportation. Thastie: |

AKALAMAGBO: Why would she bring him to the UK only to bully and then divorce him? 🫤 Surely she would have made him suffer more by just leaving him in Naij? (While updating her whatsapp status daily with pics of the good life in the UK 😂) 3 Likes |

Thastie: If he longer wants to be married to his sponsor, his visa will be curtailed and he would need to find a new sponsor before he runs out of status and is either deported, or has to go underground and live in fear of deportation. You should advise him that it's much easier and cheaper to support his wife and stay married. |

AKALAMAGBO: I only responded to a part of what Zahra posted. If you noticed, I quoted the part I was referencing. I take exception to your "na where we dey always see una be dat" you should know better than to generalise.......and yes I am calm, it is you that needs to take a chill pill. 2 Likes |

Thastie: That is common especially when husband is the dependant and refuses to take certain jobs just to help with bills or wife's tuition fees. Like others have said..he needs to find a way to switch to student visa or other type of visas else..... 2 Likes |

Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by Nobody: 8:26pm On May 06, 2023 |
AKALAMAGBO: Thanks o. I'm pretty sure the word 'exploitation' would have come up if it was the other way around. I'm getting more than a whiff of blackmail but maybe I'm just overly cynical sha. Anyway, all of that is irrelevant. OP - The visa will be curtailed. Your friend's best bet is to work to find a job that'll sponsor his visa. He's in the UK so he has that advantage, all things being equal. There's also the student visa option. He should look to care work or NHS. Those are the ones I have heard of that give visa sponsorship more 'freely'. He has to move fast though, because I'd imagine that there'd be an update to his visa status 'right to work' page which might deter employers. He might also consider trying to convince the wife so they still divorce but give it some time before initiating the process. Maybe they might even fix things during that period but he'd be working like hell to get his own visa ASAP regardless. Best of luck to him. 2 Likes |

Lexusgs430: Not at all, just to try harder and be more motivated to save his marriage. You know marriage isn't always easy and sometimes we need something else to push us to keep going those hours/days/weeks lol when love seems to have gone awol Maybe the fear of deportation will help him find the motivation he needs 😉😂 2 Likes |
