This question can be seen in both ways due to perceived notions, wether hooking up its good or bad it depends a lot what does the person values. It is a fact that the person’s likely hood to like hook ups is dependent on culture, upbringing and life experiences that forges the development of it. Hook ups don’t possess any sort of emotionally fulfilling experience, solely focuses on the pleasures of the flesh and the sexual gratification that a person can get, most often than not short lived because you were just another one and that fact doesn’t boost anyone’s morale, but its addictive a person may be chained the rest of their lives trying to prove themselves and to others that they are desirable, once your grace period is over and hormones plumet your realize you actually have nobody. A person who hooks up is not in touch with words like, respect , dignity, honor and humility and specially emotion that is usually accompanied with sex, culturaly could be because is was frowned upon to show sentimentality, perhaps they had parents who never where in touch with their emotions and thought their children to neglect theirs aswell or a traumatic experience that makes them believe a stable sane relationship is a burden, whatever it is you’ll always find that people who hook up are flawed in a way, and constantly detach from their humanity. Most hooking ups take place in drug and heavy drinking environments or under their influence! where doesn’t matter how much u get laid you gonna forget it the next day cause you were never present to begin with, why have sex if your semiconscious during the act? what’s the logic if you tryna forget it the next day? Easy sex Easy gratification it becomes transactional and meaningless the more you practice it, carrying someone’s filth that’s is filled with a hundred dicks and the essence of half of the town, can be easy chucked away with some, ecstasy and lsd, desperate for validation, desperate for release. People would often say how prude, sex is fun and should be experimented with, sex is the greatest gift human kind was given, and that’s an absolute truth!, but why do it like you were an animal in meeting season? not really aware of anything. We are sexual beings, with our own set of fantasies and desires part of what makes us human is our capacity feel, to connect and to bond and that is also mixed with ur desires and most importantly our gift of reasoning trying to choke that away with pills, drinks belief methods seem utterly destructive and inhumane! but that’s what society promotes nowdays and that’s what people buy! there’s nothing more pleasurable in life than having sex like a human being, fully conscious and with no remorse, with somebody who you love and you are dedicated too! Sexual freedom is misenterpreted for promiscuity and the idea that your truly free, if you neglect your humanity. sexual freedom is being completely vunerable and naked with the other under the environment of trust , mutual love and desire here you can break the bed and wake up the next day satisfied because what you did was love making not some sort of fukery/sluttery. No one is obligated to be in a relationship if love has waned feel free to end, but im sure you’ll be thankful for the amazing sex you had and how confortable was it. You don’t get to drink fine wine everyday! Hooking up is a fancy word for prostitution, all is left to do is to charge money and perhaps learn how to find unatractive people attractive ,wich easily can be done with some weed, lsd and ecstasy if you ’d like, gulp it like nobodie’s business and get ready to work! Thank you! and that was what my eyes have seen and filtered! can’t change opinion haven’t seen other wise! Lesson of the day people buy , what you sell and for what you’ve been bought, you must fulfill your role! Cheap or expensive quantity or quality is all measured on your values and self worth! 4 Likes |

I feel “Hookup culture “ is a Bullshit. The hookup culture in Nigeria is garbage and destroying people. It is a gateway to psycopathy. People have become so obsessed with such fleeting short term pleasure. They are treating another human being as an OBJECT. IT affects your psyche no matter how in control of the situation you think you are. From a psychological perspective during sex your hormones are released to bind you to that person. And hookup is a meaningless ,non intimate ,just raw casual sex without emotions involved. It leaves people empty inside. “Casual” and “Sex” can’t go together because there is nothing casual about it. -Jordan Peterson. There are few millenials who have tried to make me understand 3rd Wave Feminism: to have freedom to explore to be an empowered women to choose and have multiple partner and sexual freedom. Many men have tried to preach me this bullshit. (Beware of it, its a trap sweetheart.) People are collecting people by getting intimate as trophies nowadays. People have deluded themselves nowadays. Hooking up? With random people Its all cool. But when its 3:00am and all you want is to be loved. YOU won’t find anyone you will be empty inside. Personsally I consider sex to be a very intimate and special which I can never go play around with and have it with anyone who doesn’t emotionally invest in me as I will in him. It literally makes people emotionless. Brief moment of self satisfaction(ego) outweighs the happiness you will have with your spouse/partner. Hooking up is very common in meteropolitan city. We feel its a cool thing. Cinema has major impact. We are highly influenced by movies and tv series, socail media nowadays. It shows how casual and normal thing it is. But it has its own consequences. Maybe I am born in the wrong generation. Nowadays maximum people seem to care about one night stand and hooking up with no committment. It has become a norm and unwillingness to participate is a shame. But I refuse to indulge in this meaningless activity. I think at the end we all want to be in love withsomeone who is afraid to lose. As a hopeless romantic I am afraid to exist in this culture. Era of lusted by many and loved by none! Everyone is entitled to have their own opinion. 6 Likes 1 Share |

Between a bank and a customer, it is the bank that has the responsibility to safe guard it's money, and same dynamics apply to sex. Hakimi safeguarded his asset via his mum since he is the primary looser. So for hookup culture to end, it's women that can single-handedly end it. Women suffer the most in hookup culture, not men. You can tell men not to engage in hook up, but one method is far effective than the other. 15 Likes 4 Shares |

Dshocker: You're getting it wrong. The western countries, with the way their systems works, should even encourage the ladies to go into hookups, You think poverty is not in the west. If you don't work, won't you face poverty even in that same west? Overhere, our culture is even fair to ladies; there are jobs reserved for them: cooking, saloon, secretary, and nursing unlike in the west were there is no gender roll for job's, and where they don't get to share bils with the man they get married to or even pay for the marriage arrangement. So what are you talking about, eblike you still watch home video around early 2000 when prostitutes gave this silly excuse? With this generation, most people work online, without transport costs or anything, and they get their money in full, but you see, most girls who sell online are into hookups as well, out of pure greed and a lack of good parenting. You summarised greed on thier part and not poverty 2 Likes |

IyaTola: Men have always paid for sex, there is a reason why prostitution is one of the oldest professions in the world. You won’t find computer engineer in the Bible but you will find prostitutes. The only difference is more women especially those who are not poor or from broken homes are now willing to unashamedly exchange their bodies for money. In such an environment you will always find willing men. 7 Likes |

OP divorce laws in Nigeria… makes the couple split everything halfway? I doubt that Abeg. Find another excuse. As for those mentioning poverty as the cause… most of these hookup babes are relatively well to do. Most of them even live the “fast” lives. It’s simply loss of morals. On the part of both parties involved. People don’t even hide these things anymore. It’s just a new trend that has become a norm! 5 Likes 1 Share |

This later turn to habit they find difficult to stop, because they are getting huge easy money from it. Most of the girls you see charging 100k per night started with 2k per night. 6 Likes |
