Then get your government to remove subsidy so that NNPCL has the cash to compete with Dangote in refining, and more investors can come in to build more refineries.

NNPC can never compete with Dangote because of nepotism and corruption

If they take out the subsidy and we have a refinery in operation will the fuel price still go up as predicted?

edo has two modular refineries - 1. Edo refinery 2. Duport Refinery

Imo has one modular refinery

No talk wetin you no know

This government has really tried in promoting infrastructure... we needed these guys back in 1999 when the general macro economy wasn't suffocative.
Cyberterror:
Recall that so many oil refinery licenses were given prior to and same time as the Dangote refinery but only him made good of his licence while others used theirs for petrol importation fiat or sold the license outright to other con business men like them. So when you see people especially Igbos hating on Dangote for his patriotism to Nigeria, you begin to wonder what offence Dangote committed against them.

Dangote could build a refinery in like 3 years, yet Nigeria govt couldn't, they have been fixing the existing every year with no success for 8 solid years, 8 solid years of waste.....wahala

Then put heat under your governemnt to stop the corruption.

(Though removing subsidy would end nepotisim and corruption, because NNPCL has to make money, and since privatisation and removal of subsidy means reduced government allowance, they have no choice but to cut the nepotisim and corruption.

I get what you are saying....however

1.Only1% of the cars sold in the USA are electric

2.Theproblem with electric cars is firstly the battery. Batteries have the problem of depreciating with every charge. (It is the same issue with your phone battery.). Until we can develop a battery that does not easily depreciate, the issue is still a pain.

3.Second, electric cars are more expensive than your usual petrol car

4.Then you need to rejig the transmission system of electric power to accommodate electric cars charging points. A problem in developed world, talkless of developing world.

5. Most countries worldwide for now are still using petrol cars.
you are kidding electric cars aside it being expensive and another reason is low power output thus making it infeasible for trucks and heavy duties, it’s selling fast in the state now. Though the batteries depreciate fast but compared to the cost of maintaining combustion engines and parts replacements not to mention its zero noise emission it is worth every penny spent on it.
Do you realize the amount of damage these exhaust smokes is causing to this plannet, most cancers have been traced to it.

At this era when everyone is working towards every option to phase out combustion engines, even top car brands like jaguar, volvo, benz and others have announced they will be shifting production into electric cars. Toyota is exploring more into electric cars since their hybrid variat performance was poor with bad reviews they ve announced to invest more in electric vehicles meanwhile dangote is here throwing billions buying steel pipes to convey oil, misplaced priorities.

You want to know why nigeria is yet to have 24hours electricity meanwhile small ghana here has moved on from darkness, these billionaires are the reason we are still suffering in this country. I even heard power distribution companies take bribes from filling stations to turn power of hust to sell fuel.

No one has been able to explain why the nation's four refineries aren't refining products for over a decade despite the huge sums spent on turn around maintenance .
Good investment decision by dangote but he shouldn't use his connections to the powers that be to stiffle competition.

The amount of money wasted on almost non functional railway system is enough to setup a modular refinery. Government can build functional refinery if they want to. Do you know how much loan this administration took within the last 8yrs? Do you realized they just applied for another $800m despite the fact that they have only 2 weeks for this present administration to come to an end?

Building a refinery is open to every investor over 250 people given license only dangote don start

You all don’t want to take business risk and quick to call someone a monopoly

Well, if you want enough power, you have to deregulate completely the power sector, which means we all pay higher for power, and stealing of power stops. No buts, no ifs, just the plain truth. Want something to work, make it profitable.

We also have to bring in nuclear power. Which most Nigerians hate. Yet one station can supply up to 5000MW if not more.

And even if we did bring in electric cars, like I said, we would have to improve generation...yes, that includes countries like Ghana. You have to provide the supporting infrastructire, and a host of things that go way beyond having 24 hours power supply...and all that costs money, which takes me back to number one.

It's not that simple.

There's something we call scale of preference in economics

How much have we realized from the railway service?

How many times have you board train this year?

How many times have you bought petrol this week?

You get my point now?
